Wilder in the Yorkshire Post says he's removed the "energy-sappers" from the squad.
Who on earth does he mean ?
As far as I know ,
the only one we've removed apart from last season's loans and the ones we've recently sent on loan ,
is Brooks !
Surely he doesn't mean Brooksy ?

His statements get harder to fathom.
What he means is he’s removed players who question his tactics or authority. He's circled the wagons and just regressed to Bradway FC and that’s where we will be shortly.

He went out the back door of Wembley like your mate Wilder, who skulked off. Maybe you don’t remember?
That's right folks, 6 appearances for Colorado Rapids in the MLS, who finished 11th (out of 15). It's like we had Maldini on the bench and didn't play him.

I'll stick with my mate Wilder's assessment of players, ta.
He didn’t get a chance to be bang average because Wilder preferred the culture carrier that was Jack Robinson. As ever that worked out well didn’t it.
11 appearances for us. Came in as back up, played like a back up, left to see out his career in an uncompetitive league.

With the underlying statistics of brooks, combined with age and the fact he’s been nurtured in our academy. He’s a far better player than hamer, the ndiaye type we let go far too early. Norwich will make a killing on him.

I still can’t believe he’s not ours, if this was a wilder type fall out. Then what an absolute mug he’s made of our club.

Some players develop later than others. Some players aren't good enough to play in the Championship at any point.

How many academy players have been stifled, left us and gone on to have careers which suggest they should have played?
I agree that some players mature later than others. That is understandable.

As for turning out better at other clubs the pool is small.

I would say Reagan Slater, Will Osula are the 2 standouts. Brooks will be another he has had plenty of games with us but sporadically. but he has all the attributes needed to be a great player. Wilder for some reason has difficulty getting along with both Seriki and Brooks.

On a slightly different path, Ramsdale, and A Ben Slimane. Foderingham.

Baptiste and Curis will both end up end up with decent careers but probably not with us.

Don't quite remember the timeline, but wasn't Slater coming into his own as a pro while we were in the PL? If he were coming through now, when we're having to move on big wage earners rather than bringing them in, he'd have likely got his chance.

Osula got plenty of game time and was significantly backed by managers while he was here. Had he gone to Newcastle, played often and ripped it up, there would be questions to answer. That didn't happen.

Brooks has played plenty, Wilder came in and started him in the PL despite him clearly not being a PL player at that point. Despite them seeming to not get on, Brooks has played a lot in the last two seasons, winning awards and a big transfer.

Ramsdale was highly rated by the club and left for a significant fee. Surely you're not arguing he should have been starting in our toxic league 1 years at 17 or however old he was?

Not sure why you've mentioned Slimane and Wes, both came to the Blades as senior pros.

Given we know the level to which Curtis has played in the past few years, are you suggesting he should have been getting games for us?

And who is to blame for him not wanting to be here?

Did the board not offer enough cash? Did the fella who managed him have a predilection for outing him whenever he was below par and then pull him from the team when he played well?
I’m not debating, or arguing why he didn’t want to be here. All I’m saying is that for whatever the reason, he decided he wanted to leave, so let’s get over it and move on, or are we going to continue commenting on every game he plays for Norwich if he scores or assists.

Riedewald wasnt brought in on loan.....

Our loans have been getting worse and worse recently - which is depressing as we hit a good streak of quality loans whilst we was on the up as a club.... not sure whats happened, the loans seem to have got worse the worse we have got.
That's logical then

Did you hear wilders interview yesterday?

To paraphrase he said - "if hamer didn't want to hold contract talks... it was the same with Andre Brooks"

What Are we meant to do if players won't renew contracts? Better to get rid, surely?
We have to accept we are a club in the shit and on the slide.
Even decent agents are gonna be reticent about us in present circs.
Owners sued in the US by Bord.
Owners sued in the UK by the Prince.
Parachutes gone and can't balance the books.
We are anything but solid.

Surely we need to be looking at why so many of our best players never want to hold contracts talks in recent years?

Yes Slater was coming through at that time. But remember we had one good season in the Prem and the other years were poor. We had an aging squad but spent alot of money on poor signings.

Osula has played more games for Newcastle than he has for us and has done well for himself. He is still improving?, The good thing for us is that at least got a decent fee. On the other side of that he is worth double that now.

The overall point I am trying to make is that we don't have a clear development strategy. We are kind of making it up as we go along. Ramsdale was originally sold for less than £1M, who we bought a few years later for £18M and who we later sold for an additional £10M.

I mentioned Slimane because we bought him and rarely played him. Wilder didn't take to him. He has been playing well for Norwich. Wes was ignored until given a go after the failures of Grbic and Olsen.
WIth Wilder its always about the here and now, but strategically we need a DOF to balance things out. As a club we have signed a lot of players since 2019 for quite a bit of money. Last season we brought in Ben Mee and Dany Ings because that was all we could afford.

This season we should have Curtis in the squad as cover for Seriki, giving him ago. Instead we got Gary Doherty. If Curtis isn't good enough at this stage, then why did we buy him? Cannon cost £10M in a January window. Tanganga cost £8 and McGuinness cost £3M. Just taking the latter who is now not in Wilder's plan, we would be better off last season playing Baptiste and seeing where he is at.

We are fans who pay good money to support the team at games. We are entitled to our opinions. Wilder is a successful manager and not infallable. He gets it wrong sometimes too. Brewster, Cannon, Rothwell, Chong, etc.

Not having a coaching badge does not disqualify a person having an opinion on what they see with their own eyes. Our coaching staff should be accountable too. in particular when it comes to defending.last season where our back four lacked any kind of defensive organisation.

I have coached in 3 different sports. Funny enough its the 1 that I didn't have any badge for that won the most trophies.
Yes coaches get it wrong and I imagine everyone didnt agree with your coaching methods in the 3 sports you mention ,everyone has a right to an opinion !
especially an educated one.Our academy has turned out a lot of good players with some special ones.I trust Wilder and his coaches to continue doing this and as I say there is a right time to give them there chance! If earned!.
As fans we are all frustrated at how the window has gone so far !
Throwing kids in that arnt ready is not the way to go.

Brooks was very popular within the squad. He was also the players’ player of the year. He was definitely not an “energy sapper”.
Some of the Wilderettes will have nothing critical said against him no matter how much truth and evidence there is. There certainly were a few times last season when he gobbed off about Brooks and Seriki,he ran them into the ground some matches when there was no need. He’s deflecting the pressure that is building on himself.

Yes Slater was coming through at that time. But remember we had one good season in the Prem and the other years were poor. We had an aging squad but spent alot of money on poor signings.
The signings in our second season were mostly young players with potential for exactly that reason, we signed Berge in the January, and Brewster, Ramsdale, Bogle and Lowe in the summer. What is the argument, regardless? Slater has eventually developed into a decent, midtable Championship player, he'd have been no help in the PL as a teen.

Not sure what the argument is again. We utilised the academy perfectly in his case, we played him as a young player to bolster the squad, developed him into a player that a bigger team would want and sold him for a large fee.
The overall point I am trying to make is that we don't have a clear development strategy. We are kind of making it up as we go along. Ramsdale was originally sold for less than £1M, who we bought a few years later for £18M and who we later sold for an additional £10M.
The strategy is develop good players and use them as we see fit, same as any other club. When they're good enough to bolster the squad they play, when we get good offers for them we sell to help reinvest. We didn't drop modern club legends like Fleck and Norwood for Slater because he wasn't good enough, but we did drop Didsy and Sharp for Osula because he was.

Ramsdale was sold for a million to help us get off our arse in LG1, a good fee for a player that had proven nothing at that point. We bought him back later when we needed a keeper and sold him for a big profit again. All good business.
I mentioned Slimane because we bought him and rarely played him. Wilder didn't take to him. He has been playing well for Norwich. Wes was ignored until given a go after the failures of Grbic and Olsen.

Hecky didn't take to Slimane either, or more likely both recognised that he wasn't good enough to play in the PL. Both gave him minutes regardless given our lack of options. Wes was brought in for free as backup for Ramsdale wasn't he? When Ramsdale left he became no.1 without being outstanding so was given competition. Hardly a misused talent, we got the most out of an average, aging keeper.

We clearly make poor decisions as a club from time to time, as does Wilder as a manager. Perhaps having a DoF would help, but we aren't underperforming massively relative to our natural level and have achieved more than most recently with our "outdated" model.

Curtis was awful in league 1 a few years ago and had a decent 6 month loan in league 2 last season. Wilder will have watched his games, seen him back in training and decided that he's still not up to it. We signed him because he was a young player with potential that might have become good enough. He still might. Why did Brighton sign Tommy Watson for £10mill, loan him out to the Championship last season and now to Leicester in LG1?

We did see where Baptiste was at, he was playing every week at relegated Rotherham in LG1. Before loaning him out, Wilder will have seen him in training. I also want to see young players given a chance now, particularly given our financial situation, but it's no good playing kids that aren't even close to being ready; it's not fair on them and would be a disaster for us.

Sigh...... the straw man argument again.

I defend Wilder, not because I am in love with him, but because much of the criticism he gets is way over the top, repetitive and tedious.
Of course he has flaws, plenty of them in fact, so don't pretend people like me just gullibly support his every action.

'Widerettes' - nice one. implying we are teenage girls screaming adoration for our hero.
I don't know for sure, but I'd suggest that most of those who generally support Wilder, are mature gents, who have been watching United home and way, for many years.

Baptiste was the best player in the pitch (not hard admittedly) against Cardiff in the Cup 2 seasons ago. Since then hardly a sniff behind a succession of ageing journeymen CBs.

He’s the captain of the ship and from the shitshow that is going off again,he and the owners draw deserved criticism. ‘Mature gents’ have you seen some of them that are attached to him ?

I’m on the other side of this argument Coco, in the fact that I absolutely don’t dislike Wilder, quite the opposite, but do think it’s time for a change in direction. However, this anti-Wilder/Wilder haters vs Wilder Fan Boys/ Wilderettes slant is pathetic.

I’m not aiming this at any specific poster but this is a forum where people share options - and they’re going to differ. That’s life… but clearly not on the internet 😂
