Thought he was very hot and cold so not that bothered he’s gone, I just think it makes us look a bit tinpot selling to a potential rival

Very disappointing. Not just the fee. But we've let one of our brighter young players join a potential rival.
And without being disrespectful, I saw Norwich as a bit of a nothing, middling club. Their PPs are long gone, they aren't a side I first think of to be challenging, etc. Which is why it makes me worry, about the level we're set to be at. Are we saying that we can't compete with that?!

Given you some extra clarity there.

One would hope that our recruitment department are looking at how Norwich have managed to have £8m to spend on one of the Championship's better prospects despite being a year down the road to despair that we're currently travelling.

Josh Sargent (now 26): bought for £8.25m in 2021, sold for £16.25m rising to £20m
Borja Sainz (25): signed on a free in 2023, sold for £14.25m
Marcelino Núñez (26): signed in 2023 for £3.3m, sold for £7.5m rising to £10m
Jonathan Rowe (23): youth prospect, sold for £14.25m including loan fee

The pattern is that the three players signed by Norwich came from abroad and were 21/22/23 when they signed. We, on the other hand, sign players at the other end of their career from British clubs and then release them on frees.
...on the other hand, that it some very good recruitment. I can understand a Chris Mepham at Sunderland if it helps to get you over the line. The trouble is we've dabbled in Holding, Mee, Ings and the like.

Selling someone for, to paraphrase what you say, half way short of decent money, because of perceived "financial necessity", is how poor clubs stay poor. Both on the pitch and on the balance sheets.
Newcastle and villa are loaded , the rules dictate even they have to sell

You joke, but I once had to evidence gather, intervene and tweak results back "right" due to a players family members and friends voting them 10/10 en-masse every week to boost their ratings 🤣
Give us some initials at least 🤣

Why? If I’m wrong I’m wrong just thought it was to stay within the rules?

They are doing it (if they are) to stay within rules, not because they are skint. We are doing it not because we are breaking any rules (at least I'm not aware we are close to breaking any), more because we have piss poor adaptation to relegation (i.e. are relatively skint)

If we use the funds to bring in 3 or 4 up and coming lower league players (like we did with Stevens, O'connel, Baldock etc) then it could be useful funds to rebuild.

However as many have suggested the worry is this brings in more Rothwell types or wasted on someone like Cannon.

I do think though, there is 'the market factor'

If you stick something up on facebook marketplace, for it to be bought it has to be a competitive price, there has to be someone who wants it and whoever is buying has to have the funds to afford it.

Transpose that onto Brooks, and no Premier League clubs, including those promoted, have come in for him (because we would have demanded a larger fee) so that shows his inconsistency impressed no one. A move to Norwich is a bit indicative of what he has heard backstage at BDTBL that funds are tight (yet again) and bringing squad improvements this coming transfer window won't improve our chances of top six finishing and he's clearly not a fan of CW either. Rather than have a truculent straphanger on our books next season, we are offloading him and getting the best price we can from a team who have funds and a Brooks-shaped hole, given he still has contract to buy out too.

This amongst other things was one of the reasons Knill resigned as he was unhappy how Wilder was treating some players along with Wilder not open to any suggestions.I don't expect Jones to last until the end of next season.
I heard the very same (sorry but , who’s Knill?)

I'm sure you'll make up for it though, by slagging him off all summer.

Do you think there’s any benefit to Wilder’s glorified drinking buddy spouting shit like this off all summer? Makes us seem like a Sunday league team.

What annoys me the most with this are we are constantly selling off all our top young talent, we barely even get to see them play for a season or two.

As soon as they are worth anything they are gone, usually for the buying club to realise huge profit on.

Then we sign has beens with zero resale value or absolutely overpriced useless shite. We will never progress as a club.

Nothing wrong with a mate having your back, but he does shoot from the hip and should keep his trap shut more.

Of course it's the usual broken records, that really make a meal of it.

Norwich are not on a £ par with us.

For a start , they haven't pissed away money on shite like we have in recent years.

Money which has now run out so we've finished our "7 years of plenty" with barely a pot to piss in.

3 years of PL money and 4 years of parachutes
What have we got ?
A bang average half-baked squad and a field at Dore. A recruitment team that needs shooting.
And distant half-baked owners who gambled on a quick-flip and lost.
But according to Wilder , his pal Bettis is a great CEO.
The whole shebang is probably the most unprofessional outfit that's ever chewed it's way though £500m.
And no one at the Lane can think beyond the Bettis Wilder combo.
Inspiring eh ?
Had it not been for Wilder in the first place we would never have been in the PL in the first place.l and that was without parachute payments. Bettis was there when Hecky got us promoted too and it was Wilder who brought in Hecky. The recruitment team have also signed Osula, Jebbo, Lankshear, Peck and Ndiaye, all under Bettis' control.

In more recent times under Wilder in our first season back in the Championship we signed Campbell on a free who was one of the best forwards in the league in his first season and not many would have predicted tha. Souttar on loan who was definitely one of the best centre backs we've ever had, Burrows who was in the league team of the season in his first season, McCallum on a free who has since proved to be an excellent addition. The fact that the free transfers were released by other Championship clubs tells you they were not considered as worthy of keeping and yet Wilder signed them allowing us to spend money on other players we needed on loan or permanent who cost more like Souttar and Burrows.

Wilder also signed Bamford and Jairo on frees.

If you're looking for blame I think it's COH sports who have very little idea on recruiting in any shape or form whether that be players or the appointment of Selles.

His mates in a high profile position, he’s openly slagging off his mates employers, insinuating about his mates staff or leaking private information for no other benefit than to stroke his ego. If he was any mate, he’d keep what’s discussed solely within the pub and not on social media.
