It seems what's happening here and with Olsen - and potentially others - is we're trying for players who have multiple options and are weighing them up. That's probably why things have been so quiet and will likely continue to be. Suppose it at least shows we're going for quality, but the problem is how long do you stick around waiting?

If this loan move comes off then it would be a statement of intent from the board.

I don't think Man Utd mind him coming to us but I get impression the player just doesn't want to come here.
OK. if he genuinely wants to come here for game time and get himself noticed, if he doesn't want to come let's forget it and move on.
Last thing we need is manure forcing his hand and him sulking about the place once he s he's here

Seems I was sort of right, although looks like it's the kid that turned us down rather than the club.

I think he'd be wasting his time playing with our lot. Brighton, Palace, Southampton etc. all play decent football and would give him a platform to showcase his abilities.
Assuming he displaces one of their regular PL players for enough games to make the loan worthwhile (which is surely more difficult if teams are already playing 'decent football'?

Yes,
These players on the likes of Man Utd's and Roma's books don't want to move to a struggling club with no prospects.
It's much better for players like James Garner to sign for........errr, the only club lower in the division than us.

Yes to a club he knows, with a manager he knows.

Amad is available for loan, but it's not quite that simple.

Too good for the u23s, #MUFC want to guarantee he gets regular games & at the right club who play the right style of football.

Wolves now apparently interested but only loan to buy

we won’t get him but that’s nonsense

It’s all about squeezing as much out of loan fee and wages as possible for him - nothing else

if you were bothered about style of play and game time - that could have been resolved with a 30 minute chat with prospective clubs months ago.

If Liverpool wouldn't "loan to buy" for Davies, Man U won't him, he actually has a future there and cost them a few quid.

Someone said reason Palace went cold was because they wanted to pay max 1.5m loan fee but manure wanted closer to 5m.. seriously wtf

if that’s what they want we should walk.

I don’t mind the loan fee if we can’t afford a player atm. Like Davies but may sign him eventually.

but 5m for one season of this lad is insane, he’s never coming here and for 5m we could find a competent player to sign permanently giving us an actual asset

In a fantasy world where everything is perfect, if a club sees their player has a big future with them, there should be less emphasis on the finance side of the deal and more on player development.

We're pinning all our hopes on this kid aren't we!?
It could be a turning point if we get him but what a kick in the nuts this is going to be when he signs for Palace on deadline day and we have to see what Jamal Campbell Ryce is up to these days.

Can Palace guarantee him the game time though?

Think he’d take Townsends minutes as he’s not really been replaced but reiss nelson is palaces number one choice

No chance.
We can, even if he fancies a go in the net.

Its just the drop in division that is holding us back I think.

Man Utd know he will get the games with us. I think it is a toss up between us and his old club.

I don't see a problem with that. They paid the best part of £30 million for him. Palace get £100 million plus in TV money. If you're loaning a player that is good enough to start PL games from a top PL club then that seems reasonable. You're basically paying £5 million to sign a highly rated player on a one year contract.

I reckon they will land Nelson.
They will if he signs a new deal at arsenal he’ll be unveiled at palace the same day. It’s whether he’s up for being an arsenal fringe player for the next 4 years or not

Surely a new challenge would be better suited for him, especially in the country where he hopes to really kick on.
He's been there and done it with his old club and Man U still don't think he's ready for their first team.

Not sure what he's been and done with his old club, only played 4 games of senior football there and didn't get loaned out, just them 4 plus youth leagues
