In the event that the forest matches come too soon for Billy, I’ll be honest I don’t like the idea of us having to stick one of the young strikers up front for half an hour in each leg of a play off semi.

I rather us just put Hourihane in, push Berge forward and play Fleck in a more advanced role.

Either that or play Osborn in that more advanced role (assuming Baldock is fit) that he played a few times in the 2nd half of last season. Would give us the kind of energy and movement that fits our attacking play of late.

I think we only did that because the game was won on Saturday.

He's notoriously slow at taking our best players off when the game is done usually. He will keep the forward three on unless and until Ndiaye cramps up. If that happens, I don't think we have much of a choice really.

Osborn isn't creative enough to play there and Berge will be way out of the loop up top. Best we make a plan to just play with MGW up front on his own.

I thought Osula looked pretty good when he came on, his movement and hold up was decent. I think he gets it, I don't have a problem with him getting the last half hour at all. Obviously I would rather have Billy or Brewster fit so we didn't have to rely on such a young lad but I don't think it is the end of the world.

Agree. He made poor decisions once or twice (unsurprising at his age) but has the physical and technical attributes to make a decent contribution. He's also shown the knack of getting into the right sort of positions.

Poor decisions once or twice? The lad may be strong and eager but he takes too long on the ball and doesn't know when to release it. When we create goalscoring chances it's normally due to the ball being released early to runners, creating an overlap. Osula didn't release the ball early once.

Billy's probably out for both legs, but if we're chasing the game I hope Plan B isn't to stick on one of two 18 year olds who have potential but are norhere near the finished product.

I think that's just the same thing as I said but framed in more critical language. He held onto the ball too long a couple of times but he's made 5 substitute appearances for a total of 71 minutes and he's 18 years old. I think it's a little early to be despairing about his inability to do x, y, or z.

Your point seems to be that we'd be better off with an experienced pro or two on the bench rather than a couple of very inexperienced, very raw kids. Stating the obvious, no?

If we weren't cruising against Fulham, would either of them got as long as they did?

Agreed, was more wanting peoples thoughts on what changes they’d want to see once N’Diaye has to go off and we don’t have Billy to bring on.

He is a bit unit for a young lad.

I know he wasn’t a forward but anyone who saw Tony Currie’s debut v Spurs in 1968 will know that some 18 year olds can be a bit special and it’s obvious straight away. Let’s hope that Jebbison and Osula have equally careers.

This reminds me of the palace playoff final when we didn’t have a striker. Think Matthew’s played forward with a cracked bone in his arm, but I was verrry, verrry druuuunk and I’m knocking on so that might have been a parallel universe

Didn't we have one striker (Katchuro?) who went of injured? It is a long time ago and I'm kind of blanked the day out of my mind.

If Berge got injured, I reckon Hourihane could play the Duffy role.

I agree, but their defence cannot assume that he always gets it wrong, so will have to be alert to his runs.

We had two strikers, Katchuro and Fjortoft. Katchuro went off for Gareth Taylor after twenty minutes or so.

I was thinking the same thing earlier, while I probably should have been working. The kids aren't ready for such massive matches.

I said more advanced nob rat, attacking midfielder rather than center mid.

Something like

Norwood. Hourihane
Fleck
Berge. MGW
I agree. Something like that, when Ndiaye has to go off, makes sense (though I've not done any intense tactical an analysis on Forest!)
