When I backpacked across South America in 2009, I took in a few matches, one being River Plate v Estudiantes de La Plata. Sabella was manager of Estudiantes at the time (they had just won South America's equivalent of the Champions League - The Copa Libertadores de América - under his guidance).

Seeing him on the touchline spur on his side playing in red and white stripes, black shorts etc was a surreal moment, and the years went rolling back. Veron spearheaded the Estudiantes side that evening, another Argentinean with a Blades connection.
