So long Akinbyi

First transfer out, off back to Burnley.

According to BU, it's 650k now, 100k in the summer, and I guess the rest conditional on appearances etc. So we lose some money on him, but he's off the wage bill. Probably best for all concerned as he seemed out of the picture. Was always committed when he did play, good luck to him, and a bit more for our transfer kitty. ;)

Cool we just pissed a million down the drain with him then.

Well, compared to what other clubs have lost on players (eg Boro paying about £7 mill for Maccarone and never playing him) it's small change! And who knows what difference the winning goals he did score last season (Derby away springs to mind, and the goal at Pigsboro which ended up a difference between a win and draw) made towards promotion? This is a pretty good deal for everyone - he gets to play football again, Burnley get a profit and a decent striker at that level, and we cut our losses and make savings on wages to invest in someone else.

More or less what I was going to say, his goals helped us to 6 points, and although we went up by 9 it's the confidence thing it brings in. A loss or draw in those games could have cost automatic promotion if we went on a bad run afterwards, who knows? If as the official site says, the fee could go up to £1.125m, with Burnley missing Andy Gray he is likely to get games. If our fee went up to £1.75m for him then it's only a possible loss of £625,000 not that bad I suppose.

Don't get me wrong, not that i'm too sad to see him go, it's a good deal for everyone concerned here.

on burnleys site it said he has gone for £650,000 with £100,000 payable in the summer, glad to see him go though but he did get some important goals so thanks ade

yaaaay!

Good luck to him, like whats been said he scored some important goals last year...he's just not premiership standard:)

Bye bye Ade, although you weren't so good we will always remember you for your goal against the Pigs.

according to radio sheffield on the way home from boro... it could raise to £1.125mil

Ah so not a total loss then if we can get the 1.25mil.

Lets just hope he goes back to burnley and is a success.

Always wish the best of luck to players who gave their all but just turned out not to cut the mustard.

His lack of appearences in the reserves even showed he wasn't going to do much with the Blades this season.

Best of luck Ade and thanks for the goal at Hillsborough.

Watching Walsall v Chesterfield.
Chesterfield have a regen of Akinbiyi upfront. Lad called People.

He's strong. Never looks to be in full control of the ball. Bit clumsy in the challenge. Had some good half chances and messed them all up

He was hopeless and Chesterfield bored me rigid passing across the back one way then the other how they got near the top heaven knows

We were linked with Aribim Pepple many years ago. Sure it was under Wilder first time and if my memory serves me right he played for Canadian side Cavalry F. C.

That said he was terrible against Walsall he couldn't hit a cows arse with a banjo.

Just goes to show, that Widler can spot a striker for sure.

Brewster may as well be up there for me in the “Akinbiyi category” scored a what turned out to be a winner away at the pigs. Still to this day don’t know how Akinbiyi managed that goal and wished it was in front of us but easily a goal similar to Brown, the free kick routine on bouncing day and Bash’s goal against Leeds away that I have watched time and time again
