Seems like he met most of the local press today - here's Radio Sheffield's.
Summary for those who haven't heard it:
- players being brought back in earlier (June 29th) so he can access them more fully for a couple of days, but has some idea of what's needed already as he's looked at performances/stats from last season
- looking to take the squad away for a few days as part of the process, everyone is starting from a blank piece of paper. Will be a lot of interaction with them on the training ground. Important to look at what's in house before recruiting people in - e.g. players might have been appropriate for style of last regime, but might not be now needed
- conversations already with agents, so seeds planted, not being idle while assessments of squad happen. Have to be the right players.
- not looking to let anyone move on yet till that initial assessment has happened
- on the retained list. Decisions made for certain reasons by last administration. Those released players are in the mix with everyone else
- looking at the obvious, last season conceded too many and scored too few
- wants a united football club, everyone pulling in the same direction
- on getting old boys in, attitude and behaviour so important so getting people in that you've worked with before is only really because you know exactly what you're getting. Have an open mind on everything with recruitment - this country, abroad, old, young. Dean Hammond was an outstanding captain - wouldn't be surprised if he's still at Leicester next season
- has been up Ecclesall Rd a few times already, and joined up with some random walking group one occasion
Also, called us Sheffield early on, and immediately corrected himself.
