Not that bothered about the red card shit happens.
I just want him to do well
We know hes got pace, goes past players and can finish.
It's a short life a footballers this is league one he needs to commit himself 100%
or he could drift into obscurity and that would be a shame.
You should be bothered about the red card situation Lane Ender. Che's stupidity has dropped us in it in the lead up Xmas. I keep saying, can accept red cards for mistimed tackles etc, but for dissent or violent conduct, I can't.

Yes noted.

Yeah, but who is there, really that can play on the left side, even JCR is injured, Woolford is shite and unless Done plays the wing, then it leaves Adams being the only other player with pace.

If Adkins is sensible he'll start playing freeman down the right midfield
With whats availiable I,d prefer Flynn there with Brayford it worked before

If Adkins is sensible he'll start playing Freeman down the right midfield
Been saying this for a while now. Freeman has lots of quality going forwards, and decent pace, but he gets forward quick and back slowly a lot of the time. I think he's more winger-cum-RB than pure RB. A RWB role with 3 CBs would probably suit him, but we'll never play that way and nor should we, as we struggle enough with a traditional formation as it is.

Ive had plenty of pops at Freeman on here only for his his inability to defend.
If Adkins plays him at Right Midfield it could be different.
He gets forward quick, gets searching balls into the box , goes past defenders and can score.
Fucking Hell play him there Sunday:D

He came on as a sub on the right side of midfield against Coventry last season and got at least one assist: the game where Baxter got sent off for a muppet tackle, we went 2-0 down then scored twice in the last 15 mins to snatch a point. He also linked up well with Brayford so there could be something in that idea, particularly if Adkins insists on playing 4-4-2. Sorry, "1-4-4-2".

This thread could be applied as much to Louis Reed as it does to Che Adams. I hope the club direct the necessary resources into these two young talents and we eventually enjoy the ultimate benefits. On the pitch that is and not just money in the bank.

Thats the point i was trying to put over not having a go.
Both are promising talents but at the end of the day its mainly down to themselves.

He's a talent but seems completely incapable of playing professional football.

What the fuck? Can you elaborate please. Scored 6 in 17 from left wing this year before having a natural blips. Being young and his dad.

I despair when I come on and people are having a pop at the younger players when clearly more experienced and more expensive players let us down week in week out.

You're being disingenuous here. From the left wing? All 17? half were up front. He also scored most of those goals in a small number of games and contributed almost nothing in the other games.

It's a comment about a player who is a good footballer but seems incapable of playing a role within a team. As a left winger he looks lost. As a striker he looks lost. As a diver he's proficient.

I could think of loads of different things to complain about before a lad who has had personal tragedy.

Lay off adams ffs surely this 20 or 30 more expierenced players down at bdtbl who deserve the flack more than him? And who can with the right guidance become a real utd hero in years to come...so all in all give the lad break.

Adams is raw. today he showed it on two occasions

1) the ball was cleared onto the half way line from a corner, Che had 20 yard head start on the Wigan full back but the Wigan full back got there first, this is Che, probably our fastest player.

2) keeper picked the ball up in the 90th minute, clear as day that he was gonna see if the young winger was gonna run away and not stick around for him to drop the ball, Che ran away, keeper drops the ball and wastes more time.

He is raw, he's a talent, but Raw. Would rather him start on either wing.

How old does he have to be to be criticised? He's on several grand a week.

It's a horrible tragedy to happen to anybody, let alone someone that age. Yet he's been incapable of playing either as a forward or a winger for the whole season.I agree with how Adkins has handled the situation around his loss. Doesn't excuse a season of inability.

I think that at times he is plain lazy. He clearly has pace, he clearly has talent. The first example above highlights that. He never looked like he wanted to get that ball. It was only when the Wigan player came on his shoulder that he bothered to run, then he was brushed aside.

He is one of the players capable of providing a spark and previously as soon as he got the ball, ran straight at the opponents goal, creating chances and unsettling defenders.

Yesterday it was crying out for Che at his best. Either he is low on confidence or following instruction but until Done came on, we had nothing other than spance down the left. JMAC had no one to give the ball to.

When Che did get out left, he immediately turned back an into the middle again. Why??? Run at the right midfielder / right back.

I think that at times he is plain lazy

At one point he made a fantastic recovering run yesterday as we pressed and lost the ball.

On a separate occasion they broke down our left and got a ball in and he flew in and cleared it for a corner from the edge of our six yard box. The defensive responsibilities of a rounded professional footballer are developing in him. Credit to Adams, Adkins and whoever else is involved.

Lazy?

Hes new to league football, has a total of 25 appearances a lot under 20 minutes

give him a chance to lace his boots up right
That's fine, let's give him time. In the meantime let's refrain from predicting the coming of the next footballing messiah. He's a prospect with lots yet to learn and prove - period.

How on earth have you come to this conclusion? At what point did he become a 'big time Charlie'? From everything I've seen & heard from him, he's a hard working level headed character who understands he's still learning his trade. You sure you're not thinking about Baxter or McNulty?

"A long way to go and he needs to pick it up. Apart from scoring he hasn't as yet developed an all round game. If he doesn't score, his overall contribution is poor."

This is the biggest load of shit I've ever read on this forum. Aside from the fact Che has played a TOTAL of 32 professional games of football (league & cup... Some of those being as a substitute), he's currently our second highest goal scorer whilst being played, out of position, as a winger. You cannot expect a 19 year old with less than a season of professional football to have 'developed an all round game'.

Che is potentially the best young player we've had on our books since Walker & Naughton. He needs support from our coaching & development staff as well as from the terraces to properly progress as a footballer & people lambasting him for not having an 'all round game' at 19 is rediculous.
Where have you dug this one up from?

SwitchBLADE, ignore me. Appears I got a 'quote alert' from an old post???

Pre Christmas thread that was resurrected a couple of days back.

I would say that he is a "lazy" player at times. I think a player can make plenty of runs but still be lazy (as you mention, he certainly showed some movement on Saturday).
Similar to Baxter, a lot of his touches and passes are what I would describe as "lazy", bouncing off him, skewing off at angles like he hasn't fully committed to it (I.e. Lazy).
Another example for me was Coutts' corner towards the end of the game where he didn't beat the first Wigan man. It was a "lazy" cross.

Yep. Well done. You can read. Lazy. Not all the time like I said. But at times, yes, plain lazy. Simple.

He'd be in my team every week, and I'd be spending a lot of time on the training ground with him. He is one of a few that could potentially do big things for us next season so its common sense really. He's a babi who's had a swift rise to prominence.

I thought he looked decent when he came on. His positional sense is improving all the time, as his his defensive work. He also seemed to play in 3 different positions after coming on which was bound to confuse him a little.

Lay off him, he's developing pretty well for a 19 year old.

I thought he looked better playing on the wing running with the ball than upfront, When he came on Saturday I was disappointed he wasn't out wide on the left wing and we left it to McEveley to push forward.

I was struggling to work out where he was playing!

Talk about overcomplicating things, he started wide left, then up front, then in the `number 10` role, confusing us more than the opposition.

Felt the `diamond` switch in the first half helped Wigan more than us too, we had, had the games 2 chances up to that point, but Wigan grew into the game once Adkins made the change.

Despite that, think Adams did enough to earn a start at Donny on Saturday.
