I went to visit Yellow Arch Studios a while ago. Wanted to show my granddaughter and her boyfriend where the Monkeys recorded their first material. Bumped into Richard Hawley - bit of a miserable git, but we were in his control room in his studio time but a little politeness and cheerfulness doesn't go amiss, does it?
Anyroad, round the corner was a proper one-shop chippy, one counter typical queue in the street, servers in white lab coats with white mesh trilbys on.
We all had scran, and I introduced my grandaughter's boyfriend to proper three times fried chippy chips and a fishcake with said breathtaking amounts of salt and Hendos on. I don't think he realised where the food ended and his fingers begun. Sure he bit into them a couple of times.
I had a small chips (which was really a large) and a fishcake butty, proper flat white floury breadcake with cheap margerine, all of it soaked in Hendos and salt.
It was manna from heaven
