There is a distinct lack of decent fish and chip shops around the Sheaf Valley, out of town.

I know this is an old post, I just checked the food rating and it's now rated 4/5 so they must have addressed the issues they previously had.

It's defo the best place for value and quality. Cheapest but also the tastiest. The mixed grill they do is on another level for 8 quid.
I love a chicken wrap from there.

However, I would love to know how you get a zero star rating. Washing meat in the toilet that sits in the middle of the kitchen?

As far as I know, the main way to get a 0* rating is if your premises doesn't have a source of clean, running water

It's not that difficult really. Most domestic kitchens wouldn't score well if they were to be marked. Look at the list below which would all be items a commercial operation could be marked down on. The only item in the list below which wouldn't apply to a domestic kitchen is record keeping.

Incorrect storage of food.
No record keeping*
Poor cooking practices
Poor staff hygiene
Cross contamination
Pest issues
Lack of confidence in management and their understanding of risks

And yet it still tasted so good and I never got the squits.

Ah it's all changed now, in my younger days your Fish & Chips were cooked in fat, and potatoes were rumbled and chipped in shop,. Thi made their fishcakes and battered their fish in front of ya, and you used loads of salt and vinegar that was like paint striper, then they wrapped it all up in News paper, (this was back in the days when the print contained arsenic ) and they tasted fantastic....

Youngens today eh !!
Di don't know di born...........:tumbleweed:

Either way if they did have issues its good to see they have resolved them now with the new rating.

Fair play to them it always seems busy, the value and quality is very hard to beat.

Be a poor state of affairs not being able to buy a greasy chip buttie near the ground

It follows the police moving on the prostitutes outside Hillsborough so there's no longer any Hi hoes sheffield Wednesday

No the 'new branch' is a franchise of some sort.

The original Kebabish does a fantastic, full mixed kebab in a Naan for £ 6.

The same guys also own the jacket potato shop further up, if you want a healthy option.

A'salt'N battered is owned by the Admiral fish bar at Crookes, I'll ask what's happening. Though it only opened on match days for the last few years.
All these students want exotic/healthy take aways.

Kurdistan is good. I don't worry about hygiene ratings having travelled in india and south east asia. Manor top chippy is pretty terrible and very expensive IMO. They are living off the reputation they had when they were beckets. they are nowhere near as good as becketts.

Is this still/definitely closed? Fancied some fish and chips before the game on Saturday.
