As much as there is a lot of pressure on Clough to produce results (personally I'd wait with any judgements 'til the end of the season and then take stock)

There are also a load of players who need to step up if they want careers in the 2nd division or above (with or w/out Utd and with or w/out Clough).

Howard - back from injury, needs to return to calm, assured form which helped with so many clean sheets last season
Brayford - done OK since he returned but nowhere near the standards he set previously
Harris - doing well as far as I can see
Basham - has had a good season so far - keep it up
McEveley - was a revelation for a while at CB but increasingly looking like a potential weak link, needs to be more solid
Flynn - back from injury, a very in and out season (inc a good, but short, spell at RB) - needs to go on a run of good form at RW and run at full backs consistently (a few goals would be nice too)
Doyle - has been steady all year for me - keep going, maybe feels he "owes" fans and club promotion??
Coutts - OK start, doesn't seem fully fit - a lot to prove
Baxter - jury is out, flashes of excellence but doesn't stamp his quality on games anywhere near enough
Murphy - Player of Season so far I think, needs to keep going (and keep scoring goals)
Done - great start with lots of goals, keep up the goal record

Kennedy - has done brilliantly, really unlucky timing of injury - could still come back in to play a major part
Collins - maybe, just maybe him returning to the team at some point could help shore up the defence, give the team a boost as he's a bit of a leader/shouter and also help re-establish fans-players link (he always really claps the fans etc at end of games)
James Wallace - must admit I've not seen much of him, but everyone seems to think he's top drawer, no good if he's never fit though...
Reed - has obviously done very well but can get better, if he gets a goal that'll boost his confidence further
JCR - always looks a threat, some bizarre crossing but sort of player you wouldn't want playing for the opposition. Strange decision to let him go to Notts Co - hopefully he'll come back with a point to prove (another one who can get the odd goal)
Scougall - one of my fave players but not brilliant so far this season - could be a real boost if he can rediscover top form (can also score goals when playing well)
McNulty - good finisher, all round game a bit questionable sometimes but definitely knows where the net is
S Davies - can't comment as haven't seen him yet...
Higdon - never say never!! Has done well as a sub on a couple of occasions - late winner at Wembley in front of the Blades hordes?

Probably stating the obvious with a lot of this but...IF and when we rediscover some form and if we get in the play offs then this set of players DOES have a chance of sneaking promotion IMO.

UTB!
