We turned down blackpools offer of Clarke and philips for squinny anyone heard the same? Apparently both quinn and McCabe turned it down i personally think that would be good business. I know the rules on sources but I can't reveal who this is however they are a former Director at the lane.
I was really asking if anyone had heard this rumour???

Lot of these 'former director' rumours going round at the moment.

Yes this is correct, Quinn told me hes holding out for a move to Real Madrid..

Actually, I've a friend who is an ex-director at Madrid and he says they have no intention of signing Stephen Quinn.

Good move for both ,Quinn to a higher division and McCabe offloads a big earner why would either turn it down.

because we can't afford 2 big earners to replce him ? And Quinn knows his level ? To be honest he looks like hes playing in a level too high now on current form.

Given their churn rate, approx 17% of the average home gate are former directors.

It is what i thought but i would expect Blackpool to pay less that quinn is on now

I think it will have a lot to do with wages quinn is one of our highest paid players and i would expect Blackpool would be wanting to pay him less.

2 big earners? Blackpool pay small wages i would bet there 2 wages combined would be less that quinny is on.

Blackpool rate Phillips and Clarke higher than Squinny and whilst Oyston is as quick off the mark to accept offers as McCabe, I can't see it personally. I still think a deal will happen but more likely Squinny for Clarke, undisclosed and all that. Holloway has been glowing about Phillips in the local press this week.

whenever i read one of these threads the first thing that strikes me is how much of a major overhaul of the squad we need
stronger quicker centre backs full backs who can defend ,midfielders who can pass and strikers who can score

i would also chuck in a manager who can work on a shoestring because wilsons contacts are virtually invisible

'apparently':p holloway put in a cheeky bid of 450 grand for quinn.. which was turned down

and on current form monty and doyle will be turning out for Firth Park WMC

It's a no brainer. I'd take a straight swap of Phillips for Quinn, let alone him plus Clarke.

Is this one of those ITK chaps who assured us James Beattie would be signing by the end of August? If there is any truth in this expect a swap sometime between January 2012 and the next ice age.

It was less than that. It was also obviously turned down :)

Philips is better than Quinn & Clarke is on a par with him - so I don't believe this rumour for a minute.

Phillips started his career with Blackpool the way he played with us. He's hardly featured this season, Holloway loaned him out and the Pool fans I know wouldn't be sorry to see him go. Make of that what you will but let's not get carried away after a half a dozen game loan spell in League 1. Don't get me wrong, I'd love to see both of them if only for the fact they offer something we haven't got but Squinny has played at a higher level than both of them for most of his career.

The Donkey's Union (Blackpool Beach Division) probably don't want their monopoly breaking up! Ahem...

Surely this can't be true. Philips AND Clarke for Quinn??? Naaaaah.

I can see a swap for Clarke and Quin in Jan but think Philips may go to the Prem, if Slews good enough for the Prem then Philips certainly is

fingers crossed hes completely useless for Blackpool then and maybe we can get him back

Interestingly enough we have done better without the Blackpool boys than with them

with P6 W2 D3 L1 pts 9 - pts per game 1.5
without P13 W8 D2 L3 pts 26 - pts per game 2.0

Yeah Id realised that but from what I saw of Philips in a Blades shirt he was absolute class, skill, pace and trickery. Exactly what we need. We also played some tough games while they were here.

Interestingly enough (again) we took 7 points in the 3 tough games (Wednesday, Preston and MK Dons) and only 2 points in the "easier" games (Orient, Exeter and Stevange).

Maybe we should only play Clarke and Phillips against good teams :-)

I rate him, at league one/championship level. He's young, hungry, quick and and exciting player to watch.

Whats not to like. :D

Could it be that Phillips hit a purple patch with us? It seemed that everything he hit went in.

It would perhaps be too much to expect him to be scoring wonder goals every week with us.
