Crewe game has been re-arranged for Tuesday 23rd April and Doncaster have got there game against Carlisle that should have happened last night re-arranged for April 9th which means when all other teams up there have just the one game left we will have 2.

Good or bad ?? i know it is difficult to say but does hunger and adrenaline kick in for the last few games?

It would be nice knowing that a win at crewe would send us up taking the pressure off the last game especially with that being at BDTBL.

Promotion at Crewe, champions at Bramall Lane.

I'd take that.

Promotion.

I'd take that.

Fixed.

Be it by bad football, amazing luck, 10 points behind top and goal difference above third.

By hook or by crook, get the fuck out of this division.

Knowing us like I do I can see it playing out that we have to win it to go up, everyone saying "its all in our own hands". However unlike other teams who can see promotion/escaping from relegation/getting into the play offs as in their own hands, we won't take advantage of it and will choke in the big game.

I have a slight cringe when anyone says those words: " Its in our own hands " (No puns please) as we always seem to cock it up. I have that nasty feeling in my stomach that many are again going to utter that annoying football gods displeasing phrase and we will.... as it is our way, choke in the big game.

( sorry to be the morbid bastard who can't see a bright future :( )

But when it's not in our own hands (cf Exeter last season, Palace 2009), we still don't win.

In fact, we never win. Ever.

Ah but thats where your wrong fella, last season it was in our own hands. Ok I can accept Ched's circumstances and injuries to our strikers however for me the choke game was that against the pigs. Don't forget the gap we had built up and threw it away, Stevenage at home comes to mind as well, where we only started playing 60 mins into the game.

the derby match was a typical derby match , all tension and no quality , we didnt choke a judge choked us

the only decision that upset me was letting loan players, in their last game , take penalties, and bringing one on to take one who missed
when we could have gone 2-0 up after 3

Jury actually.

Well yes, but it was out of our hands on the last day and we still could have gone up had results gone our way. Of course they didn't.

Isn't the Burnley - Hull game the only time in history that United have gone up or stayed up on the basis of a last day result going our way?

I suppose 1990 is another example - we would have gone up anyway had we not beaten Leicester as Boro turned Newcastle over.

I remember the 1989/90 season we went to Blackburn the Tuesday before the last day where a win would have took us up and we drew 0-0 to take it to the last day. Thankfully that ended up to be a day to remember.

when we won div 4 we won a must win game at crewe 3-2 with a last minute goal , I remember being scored by ex owl King , IT COULD BE A SIGN

We lost at Stockport in 98, but Birmingham could only draw which meant we got into the Play-offs.

Thats the only time I can remember thinking we had got out of jail free...

If we need to win to reclaim second spot, its a bad thing (as we will be in a worse position than now).

If a win would send us up its probably a good thing

If a draw would send us up, its a great thing

If we are already up - WE DONT GIVE A SHIT!

all it means if we mantain things as they are, and the table after 45 is configured as it is now, we will be in pole position, front 2 in F1 terms . say if we add 2 points per game average to everyone

doncaster 45 84
the blades 44 81
brentford 45 80
swindon 45 79
yeovil 45 79
tranmere 45 77

would leave it like this. which Id take now

I remember a penultimate game in 1990 vs Blackburn away. Went to that, saw Paul Wood in the chip shop after.
The score - Nil nil....

I’ve recently passed 50 years of “going down the Lane” and normally I agonise over it when we get in this position.

But this season an unlikely hero emerges after returning from loan.

Oh! Mister Porter, what shall I do?
You should have scored at Portsmouth
But you stuck one in at Crewe,
Send you back to Shrewsbury as quickly as we can,
Oh! Mister Porter, what a silly **** I am

I'll get mi coat

I would take that too seeing that Brentford play Doncaster in the final game of the season
