On a side point, in the 25 years of the 21st century, United have finished higher than Wednesday in 18 seasons.

Bit of a turn around from the previous 25 years when they were higher 19 seasons to our 6.
ooh dont mention that in here , THEYLL TURN ON YOU. slghts against the owls are tabboo

interesting when people keep telling us how crap we are

100 points more than owls and played 32 games less

only countrie top 5 clubs
worth billions above us

There is a reason for this.

We've spent most of our history in the top flight (Premier league) and don't have a great record at that level
however outside the Premier League....we must have one of the best win records in England.

When outside the top flight we have finished in the top 10......2 on every 3 seasons.
A surprisingly large amount of time in our history we been involved in promotion challenges.

This explains why most people expect us to challenge for the top 6.......that's because we usually do.
We've never had spells of boring mid table safety outside the top flight.....where in the top tier we've had long spells of mid table safety.

Strange as Ive been watching football 60 plus years and obviously under the mistaken idea that in leagues the objective was to amass points

thanks for the heads up

be ok when we lose now as points arent of any use

Teams that finish lower mid table in the Premier League might only win 10 games in a season.

In this table they're constantly being outperformed by competitive teams in League One and League Two.

It's useless.

again no its shows us as the biggest points collector in the EFL FULL STOP

ITS NOT HAPPENED IN ANY CHAMPIONSHIP TABLE , THIS CENTURY THE OWLS FINISHING ABOVE US SO ITS NO SURPRISE IS IT
So I cant claim it as a new thing from that aspect

which is why owls are not even remotely mentioned in the opening post
Read it again.

Measuring by pure points tally is a highly redundant metric of success.

As a hypothetical example, you could have a team finish 3rd in the Championship for the last 25 years, missing out on automatic promotion by goal difference only, and then losing in the play offs. An upper play off position tends to require somewhere between 80-90 points each season, so for the sake of argument, I'll assume 85.

85 points for 25 years, works out at 2125 points. Such a team would be in 1st place in that table by more than 300 points, yet would not have won anything in that time.

And they could be ABOVE a team that got promoted in that first season and won the Premier League every subsequent season. Better!

STOP SHOUTING! My ears hurt.

we have made the play offs several times and been promoted 4 timeson average every v 3rd year top 6 places
if you dont think its worth anything ,,,, why do we bother at all

we all play against our peers and we ave collected more points than any other efl club, but as you say if you dont care you dont care
is it just the pies that keep you going
Utter nonsense reply. No-one is suggesting we haven't had any success or good times in that period.

I go to about 75% of games every season but don't need some contrived stats to make me feel better or put an unnecessary positive spin on things.

That table is akin to a cricketer scoring 10,000 Test runs in 250 innings and claiming they're much better than the one who has 8,000 runs in 175 innings.

It's a bit like the tennis player who wins more points than their opponent in the Wimbledon final but loses the match and isn't the champion.

Points achieved are a meaningless metric in many circumstances.

The year 2000 did though.
Let me break it down for you. There was no year 0. The calendar went from 1BC to 1AD. Therefore the 1st century ran from January 1st 1AD to December 31st 100AD. 2nd century from 1st January 101AD to 31st December 200AD. 10th Century from 1st Jan 901 to 31st Dec 1000. 11th century from 1st Jan 1001 to 31st December 1100 and so on. The 21st century runs from 1st January 2001 to 31st December 2100.

It least they are playing the same game.

With this comparison it's like me beating the bloke I play sometimes at the local uni tennis courts and claiming I'm better than Djokovic because he just lost to Alcaraz in the Wimbledon final.
