I don't recall the pigs being told that they had to be in an hour beforehand. If they had, perhaps hundreds of United fans wouldn't have been held up on the tram, missing the first two goals.

I'm going to get to the ground late now, out of spite.

That's what time SYP kindly ask that we all take our seats. 6:45pm at the absolute latest.

Due to 'enhanced searches', they say. Sounds like a finger up the bum for every man, woman and child entering the stadium.

I don't really 'look forward' to derby games, but this lot really know how to put a fucking downer on the whole event.

An hour before kick off? Fuck off.

“Wednesday fans will be asked to voluntarily stay behind for 10 minutes”

2 things. Firstly, if we win, no Blade will be leaving for 10-15 minutes. Secondly, it’s only “voluntary” because it’s nof an actual law and they won’t even put it in place. Even when it is in the interests of safety.

I’ll be leaving the pub around 7pm

I'm always amazed people are surprised when the pretend desk jockey coppers make a bollocks of planning an event like this, leaving the poor sods on the ground to deal with everything.

It's really quite simple to get right. You invite everyone to have an enjoyable evening whilst at the same time ensuring a sufficient number of officers are knocking around to
a) arrest anyone who behaves like a twat
and b) protect everyone else from the from the former.
This will allow the 99.9% of us who are quite capable of following the laws of the land to go about our business of shouting at 22 men for 90 minutes without needing to be told where to go, when to get there, when and how to leave and via what route, what, where and how much we are allowed to drink and the removal of our rights to independent thought and free movement that would ordinarily be protected by our civil liberties which they choose to disregard just because there happens to be a game of football occuring.

The same copper who made shit up at the last derby game and lied about the events to press Now wants us to help them. How about you go fuck yourself Morley. Amanda from Fss fair cop is invited to join their ‘operation’ after last derby game’s fuck up. Will very interesting to see her report compared to syp’s version.

This is just an excuse to fck up our drinking habits and make life easy for SYP. Their obsession with drinking is pathetic. After stating they are content with an evening kick off because there won't be as much drinking reality kicks in, a large number of people will be drinking all day it will make no difference.

As others have said I was of those held back by SYP in September and missed two goals. If they had cleared Hillsborough corner an hour beforehand there wouldn't have been a problem. Hindsight's a wonderful thing. They are now obviously asking us to get there early so they can escort the pigs to the game on time. Bllcks to that I'll be getting there at 7.30 let the pigs miss the start of the game.

Advice to all Blades ignore SYP when they tell you we won't get in the ground if we don't arrive by 6.45. 500 extra Plod will not be enough to physically search 30k fans.

Cue SYP closing down pubs early near the ground. Amanda from the FSF needs to give them a lecture on how other forces manage big games.

They kept us in at the sty, then held us back a good while outside, penned in on Leppings Lane, what's so different, apart from our ground not being a death trap?

Its so those big hard OCS blokes can rampage round the ground 5 mins before kick off (again)

An hour early? Not happening is it. Waste of breath to even suggest it. Let people make their own fucking decisions.

Have any of these police officers ever been to a game of football in their lives?
Almost everything they come out with would suggest not.

Additionally, they are planning to keep Wednesday fans in the ground "for around 10 minutes" after the final whistle.
Yep brilliant thinking that, if we win, stay behind to clap the players off, that 10 minutes should perfectly ensure their fans run into ours after the game... well done officers... well done.

I'd hasten to add to this to plod on the door probably aren't the blokes who's made the decisions, so don't treat them as such. Daft orders come from those higher up, no point giving grief to those who don't deserve it (Not saying you have specifically, I'm speaking generally).

18:30 is obviously a bit much, but it we really should all be aiming to get there early, be well in time for the teams coming out, lift the roof of the place. Get there and support the team and intimidate the little piggies. Don't leave the pub 5 minutes before kick off and risk missing KO, and maybe the first goal. A rocking Lane under the floodlights is truly magical, besides If we start like last time we don't want t be celebrating in a half empty stand, again!

I agree the ones who were ok at Hillsborough Corner were from Durham. If they are as clued up about where the ground is as they were last time then they are likely to direct the Pigs up onto Park Hill Flats.

I think McCabe has told them to say that so he gets a load of money from booze and pies

Funny thing is in the 70s & 80’s we always got to the ground at least 30 mins early but for a big match at least an hour. The kop would be heaving, atmosphere building and if lots of oppo fans present there could be a few attempts to “take the Kop”. Damn good fun with lots of noise and anticipation.

Fucking trains strike are on strike too. I'll have to drive straight from work and spend an hour trying to get parked.

Always makes me laugh at games. We are normally in the ground pretty early, and we always get stopped and searched. I always say that people who are most likely to bring anything into the ground will be entering 10 min before kickoff, when it is too busy to do any searches and they obviously get things in

Pies reach there sell by date at 7.30 that day so they getting us in early so we might get bored and hungry and buy one that' the rumour I heard Oops.perhaps I should have put this on rumour site

Everyone to take their seats by 6:45pm at the absolute latest?

I finish work this Friday at 5pm. It’s a minimum 2 hr drive on a Friday to get there from where I work, I then have to park.

What are they going to do if arrive at the corner of John St around 7:15-7:30 ? Refuse me entry?

It is common practice in Germany, all fans are searched before going through the turnstiles, and bags and rucksacks not allowed in the ground. Some of the games I have been to it can take up to 30 minutes just to clear security, long queues.

Only ever seen long queues at Dortmund and Bayern myself. Then again over there you can drink a decent reasonably priced beer in your seat so there's less incentive to stay in the pub until ten minutes before kickoff

Spot on, Bayern and 1860 (well 1860 in the days of big crowds).

Fucking hell, there's more coppers than fans there!!!

The police in Brighton trying to maintain the pretence that the Palace fans are pwopa nawty after they got called out for making up reports of weapons and violence at the last match.
