I didn't realise Geoff Horsfield was that old. No wonder he was fucked when we signed him.

Mick "Windmill" Channon. Great player - not as great as Woody though. ;)
Remember Mick was a TV studio pundit once and he couldn't pronounce 'Lineker' to save his life. It was quite comical.

What a player Woody was. Sadly I don't think I'll see another like him in my lifetime.

Frank Worthington - the footballer who thought he was Elvis. Once went to see Brighton play when he was there. He rolled up half awake in the passenger seat of a car about 20 mins before kick-off, wearing a grey flecked suit (it was the 80s...) that looked as though he'd slept in it. Still the best player on the pitch though.

in classic English manager style i seem to remember that in the Poland game TC played 'on' the wing.. they did that with all the great players in the 70's and still do (Paul Scholes anyone?). they love a nice lad plodder over anyone with a bit of style and class. i remember Alan Hudson destroy West Germany by himself once and he didn't get picked for the next game

Rodney Marsh on Sir Alf.

"The last time I was picked by him for England we had a team talk before the game and Alf told me we all had to work harder. "Rodney you in particular," he said in his accent. Then he said: "if you don't work hard I'm going to pull you off at half time." And I said: "Christ, at Man City all we get is a cup of tea and an orange."

Nobody laughed. And not only that, but it was the last time I ever got picked."

Yes, for a few months in 1972/73. He played for Wendy too before going to Cardiff as John Toshack's replacement in November 1970
I remember Warboys in Cardiff's line up on that great night in '71...also remember Frank Worthington used to be quite entertaining when came out for the warm up,which was more of a kick around..no cones or drills...he used to be juggling the ball around and doing a few tricks..some great strikers in that list.

I bet Cardiff appreciated that deal what I remember of Warboys he was a bit of cart horse

He was but he had a good partnership with Bruce bannister that year - they were nicknamed "smash and grab". They scored 7 times between them when they won 8-2 at Brian Clough's Brighton, which was on match of the day and is no doubt on YouTube.

Before the match the Cardiff team warmed up at the Lane End. I was in the BLLT looking at Warboys, boos rang out when the PA mentioned his name when reading out the line ups. Warboys smirked

Scored twice in Bristol Rovers fightback to beat us by 3-2 at BDTBL in December 1976. Ex-Blade Dave Staniforth was the other scorer

I was trying to be clever by quoting the first line of the Dad's Army theme. Either the reference was lost on you or you ignored it because it wasn't very funny :(
Ah! The penny's dropped now. Good one! Thankfully, you didn't call me 'Mr.Hitler'.
