Agreed.

We'll end up with 5, but a shock loss for Bournemouth next Sat will give us all false hope...

I am hoping DW had the sort of moment of realisation in that first half that NW had in 2006, when it was clear it wasn't working with Akinbiyi, so getting HMS back in was required. Today Porter did everything Kitson hasn't in recent weeks, and McFadzean has shown more in his two recent 2nd half stints than Barry Robson has done in the last 2 months.

What is it Danny - do we want to blood people in form that haven't let us down, or shall we plod along with those that currently are doing so?

It's very simple - Wilson grow a pair and stop being sh!t scared of losing and go out and win the next three on the bounce
Again his ultra negative tactics resulted in a crap first half with little or no attacking intention - fortunately Walsall scored just before half time which had to alter his thinking!
For the rest of the games they must go out as if they are going to steamroller the opposition - we will then see if the players have it in their locker.
If Wilson persists will his ultra negativity then there is only one outcome - and I for one will not be visiting Wembley again!

Do his tactics force players to not be able to control a football, out-muscle an opponent and try defending too?

I agree we should go out with plenty of attacking intention, but we have more problems than the intention of trying to keep it tight.

Hi Foxy, I'm trying to be positive here!!
I agree that controlling a ball, putting through a measured pass, attacking the second ball, actually 'thinking' in some cases seems to be beyond the majority of our team but they are supposed to be professional footballers - I agree that for most of this season they have looked more like professional clowns but I challenge them to start 'earning' their wages instead of stealing them which they have done all season.

Robson has completely unsettled the team's style of play. He is so slow and one footed but wants to be involved in everything so he buggars up everything. Again and again play is slowed down as he gets the ball on the right wing and then comes inside to deliver the ball on his left foot giving the opposition time to get back to defend. Against Tranmere McDonald was imploring Wilson to sub him early in the second half as he was repeatedly giving the ball away and he was no better against Carlisle or again today. A player who is living off his reputation but for whatever reason Danny can't bring himself to drop him.

What I don't understand is why we as supporters can see how crap he and the likes of Doyle are and yet week after week they keep getting picked. Then again we've known for the past 10 years that we've not had enough pace in the side but a succession of managers have seen things differently.

Disagree Foxy. Playing with fear in a formation that is geared towards not making mistakes actually has the opposite effect.
We need to be offensive and take risks in the attacking third. Problem is that we are not playing enough of the game in those areas.
These are professional footballers so no one can tell me they cannot control a football properly. Sometimes you need the freedom to express yourselves and I think there are too many constraints placed on them.
We need to up the tempo and get it forward quicker. Not hoof but pressing and playing our game in areas that can hurt the opposition rather than giving the ball away in areas that hurt us. How many goals have we conceded recently that we're as a result o us gifting possession and getting punished? Not really good play from the opponents but where our own negative tactics have been our own downfall.

Forte and Robson had the freedom to stand looking at each other while their man skipped down the wing, only for the defenders to then back off, not really attempt to win the ball and watch them score... That wasn't caused by tactics or a formation (in fact, they were out of any solid formation at that point).

Sometimes it has to be asked why the players can't grow a pair and take responsibility for themselves, whatever system we are playing.

I agree with everything you've said here, he runs around like a headless chicken and leaves us wide open in other areas of the pitch.

Totally agree Foxy. Why as supporters can we see it pretty much week in, week out, yet our management do nothing about it. This lack lustre attitude is all too common for my liking this season.

Responsibility is something that no one in the team can grasp. Plenty of times various members should have held there hands up and said "I fucked up". A few weeks ago Billy Davies apologised to the forest fans for a dire performance, Wilson should take note.

got to throw the kitchen sink at them on tues, its time for the lads to earn our respect and prove they are good enough. brentford and swindon are beatable but we've now got ourselves in such a pressure situation where we basically have to win all our remaining games to avoid the playoffs, argh!

I don't think we're capable of all out attack Gav. Mcfadzean has to start and play with a 4-4-2 with him and Murphy out wide.

Agree we are better when we play 4-4-2. We need to work on corners and set pieces as these sounded woeful today.

Only for the pigs being in this league last year , this is probably the team we'd have been watching last year after being relegated , we all thought they would have been a fire sale of our better players , Danny has been loyal to his under performing players for a long time and they've let us , and him down earn the respect of the fans and the players danny and bring in the changes we all want and our team needs 7 from 9 and its auto anything less and my told you so speech may have to change. Sorry if it rambles a bit but winning over 600 notes on the national will do this all the polish beer is taking its toll now. U.T.B.

another first half like the last 3 home games we can throw our automatic promotion in the bin. Come on blades get out there and fight for it. we have to show passion in the first half, and not just be happy to get in at half time 0-0. surely these players have got to be playing for a new contract, if anything.

I think we'll need 9 points from the next three personally but:

Play 4-4-2
Up the tempo
Stop giving the ball away cheaply
Find someone who can take corners
Start McFadzean
Shoot rather than fannying around

UTB

We need a captain with balls to steer us through the next 6 games. Unfortunately we have Mr Shrinking Gonad Doyle.

Do you read this forum Michael ? up for the challenge are you ??

I agree we should go out with plenty of attacking intention, but we have more problems than the intention of trying to keep it tight.

Unfortuntely I think that's the problem Foxy et al, some of our players can't control a football to a professional standard. They can't follow instruction and all they can do is pretty much the basics. We're in the 3rd division with 3rd and 4th division players and we'll be very very lucky to get promoted. Wilson could be a tactical genius (he isn't) but if you're as limited as he is with this set of players then it doesn't mean a lot.

Think we may scrape a win Tuesday to get the giddy boys pissing again, but with no rose tinted glasses on even the most deluded must admit that if we were half decent we'd have guaranteed automatic promotion by now. Some of the defeats/draws we've had at home have been pitiful, and no matter how you flower it up, good teams don't mess up as much as we have.

Promotion? That'd be nice but realistically I don't see us getting as close as we did last year, and what a mess we made of that didn't we

Robson should be shown the door now your are not what we need at this time.
Dave Kitson sorry pal you just ain't got the stamina to see it through.
Danny for fucks sake let's get at them early tues more of the 2nd half performance will see us crush them mugs.

Some of the wins have been shit as well.

I seriously cannot remember a time when we have been challenging for promotion & lots of the fanbase think the team are rubbish & the football negative & boring.

I think it's easier than that, the season rests on Tuesday. We need momentum and nothing less than a victory, hopefully convincing, will do. The fact we've only scored more than one goal once in the last 8 games and scored 2 in the last 5 doesn't bode well but it's now or never, no more excuses.

Find our home form and we're up.

Muddle along how we have been doing and we're in for a playoff struggle, and a likely (IMO) final loss to Brentford...

Hurrah :(

Totally agree with this, but how many times have we said the same over the years?? 'It's in out hands.....we need to be positive...lets get behind them etc etc etc' All this is true but we need something from Wilson and the team to get the crowd behind the team and create a hostile atmosphere for away teams. Can Wilson send the team out with fire in their bellies and rocket up their arses when needed? I am yet to see any evidence that he can. 6 games left, 4 should be easily winnable with some positivity and gumption. The other two are home games against teams which we can't lose against. Here we go again.............

Realistically, the whole season rests on these last few games.....................
Wilson may be 'a nice bloke' and I for one are pissed off with his mutterings every week..................
theyr'e a good team, so and so (their manager) has really got them up for this game, it will be a tricky game, they will come to Bramall Lane and get men behind the ball, a game at Bramall Lane is their Cup Final.................
Well Danny Boy we have got six cup finals to win and we go up -it's as simple as that!
If you can't get the team focussed, wanting to run through brick walls, go out and smash the opposition from the start - then you don't deserve the job of manager of Sheffield United FC
