I like it overall but I’m not sure the black pinstripe works within the red band. Surely it’d be better separating the red & white bands?

First impression - Not keen.

The material looks like Decathlon own brand and the pin stripes don't look right at all. Maybe if they were in between the red & white it'd look better but as it is, it just looks a bit odd.

One thing you can guarantee with Adidas shirts (apart from a solid back) is the quality of the shirt so bit surprised you say it looks like a Decathlon shirt quality. Worrying if true.

If the team have to play with a plain-back shirt, ok, but why can't a shirt with full stripes on the back be produced for supporters?
I thought this also, but there's no rule saying we can't play with striped backs, so surely the question needs to be to Adidas of why can't they produce a striped back and front shirt!

It's the same fabric as the GK kits from last season, with the little hexagons. They're fine for my money and better than last season's home kit material by a mile.

Very soft and silky, but it's definitely a football kit, not as breathable and cotton like as the material on the 18/19 and 19/20 home kits.

I'm only basing my opinion on seeing the photos, I haven't seen it in person yet so I may change my mind once I've seen it properly. You're right though, the quality is usually really good.

Another really poor effort from adidas IMHO:
  • collar should be red
  • pinstripes inside the red stripes ok close up, from a distance it looks like a cheap knock-off that's not been printed properly
  • plain back
  • plain sleeves
  • socks should be white
Is it a poor effort from Adidas or us? Reading that we work closely with adidas for a long time prior to launch and this was signed off.

That's the most frustrating thing about the lack of stripes. Just this thread alone shows the vast majority of fans (the ones who actually part with money to buy the things) want stripes on the back of the kit.

Surely someone from the club or a supporter liason officer or someone has seen these threads every year for the past 4 seasons and would give adidas a nudge to sort it out.

If adidas had turned round to the club and said its cheaper to have a plain back or whatever then we should be fucking them off for a company that will produce what we (the vast majority) want

Or said that it knocks £15 of the cost of the shirt.

I'm sure Elev8 would be glad to make us a shirt with stripes back and front, probably in double quick time as they have spare capacity at the moment🤣

Our alpharooms shirt is the best since the laces one. No argument. This one isn't too bad. But I'm not Gok Wan so can't go too much in-depth.
If you were Gok wan Ainsley it would give you free licence to walk up to women and fondle their tits while talking bollocks . He's been getting away with it for years! The jammy twat.

6.5-7/10 for me.
One day someone will make the perfect shirt for us it will have red and white stripes front and back and stripes on the sleeves too. Collars and cuffs will be red and any sponsor will be in black with no boxes simple writing much like the old 'Laver' effort of the early 90's. The United badge will be blood red too not the almost orange of the last few years, manufacturers logo will also be black as will numbers and player names.

If they made the perfect kit though, then what?

We need a new one every season for the accountants.

You can variate a very popular kit slightly. For example, metal blades post above but with pinstripes for a year then no pinstripes. Individual preferences but both would be hugely popular kits.

The material does look cheap but I very much doubt it is. It’s been used on most if not all of adidas’ elite clubs over the past couple of years.

Seems that Barca and Newcastle have been able to incorporate stripes on their back for the forthcoming season, so this rule saying striped shirt backs are banned by Uefa/PL is crap. That's my first point. Second and more pertinent point: we've had solid back stripe shirts for FOUR consecutive seasons now - including this season. Surely they know that producing a striped shirt all over would be a winner apart from the fact that the history of the club has always had striped shirts, minus some of the very early pinstriped ones. Can it be that hard?! Do the club have any influence in this also, or are they fine with solid back home shirts? Would Man U be ok if they had a red and white front or back, I don't see the difference to us having to have a solid back!

It may be only a tedious issue to some, but I'm really not in a good mood after last night and seeing the latest shirt has somewhat annoyed me as have every home Adidas shirt if honest, bar one. Was really hoping we'd not extended the Adidas deal for this reason but think we're staying with them for years. I will not be buying it, but will, again, be looking out for quality retro United shirts from when we managed to have striped shirts on a more regular basis - like at least once every four years! Hopefully the club will do this themselves, rather than having to buy one from an independent.

Finally, red socks the least favourable over white or black, that seems to have become a recent Adidas trend also.

I feel your frustrations brother.

Rest assured, head of commercial Paul Reeves answers all your questions in this article - https://www.examinerlive.co.uk/sport/football/news/inside-sheffield-uniteds-adidas-kit-20793263

Not.

do we still get season ticket discount on the shop this year? definitely going to buy the away kit but a little discount wouldn;t hurt

Same collar. Same cuffs.
Same stripe design, albeit rotated 90 degrees.

Yet somehow replicated on the sleeves and the back. And this for a team who will play in a European competition - the only competition with regulations regarding the back of shirts.

Well spotted!
I'm no seamstress, but surely it would cost Adidas more two incorporate 2 different materials into the back panel of a shirt with a stitched joint too?
Have they really told us that it can't be done?
Someone's talking bollocks!

UEFA claim it's finding a contrast for the number. Apparently it's hard on red & white.

I'm sure you agree that it's easier to read numbers on Celtic's than Brentfords??

Yet Newcastle have Black/White stripes with Red numbers
