Your match thread for United's return to Sandy Lane.

Cant make the Sheffield FC but (hopefully) going to this one, what sort of team do you think DW will put out?
Also anybody know how much the ground holds?

Hi guys, my neck of the woods this one - DW has said its the first team ''squad'', so hopefully a decent side will be put out.

The ground holds around 2,000 when full - £10 to get in.

£10 to get in. Thats pretty steep for a pointless game at a rubbish ground where we play every year. Was thinking more like £5. Ridiculous Our friendlys at home are only £7.

It helps support a local team that doesn't have the big purse strings of multimillionare chairmen.

Suppose thats a good point. If they get 2 thousand against us and Wednesday they will have made 40 grand. Not bad for them.

We haven't played at Worksop since Robson took over...........then again neither have Worksop. Even now they are renting the ground from Parramores.

Worksop away Tues 12th July.

Ventured over the border last weekend, and whilst waiting for my train, I got chatting to the landlord at the mallard pub on worksop railway station. He's a blade, and said he was planning to open all day next Tuesday for any blades fans making the trip over for the match.

It's a decent boozer, a little pricey, but the cask ale was spot on.

From t'OS:

A number of United's experienced performers are expected to be on show at Worksop Town on Tuesday evening (7.45pm kick-off).

Boss Danny Wilson has already confirmed that he will take a strong squad along the A57 to face the Tigers.

He said: "We gave a lot of the youngsters a chance to shine at Sheffield FC, whilst supporters will get the chance to see more of the recognised first team squad on Tuesday as the pitch at Worksop is in very good condition - it should be a good game."

Wilson could also run the rule over a couple of trialists with German defenders Alexander Kruk and Oliver Stang currently spending time with the Blades.

Worksop Town have recently returned to the home ground on Sandy Lane - newly named The Windsor Food Service Stadium - and United's visit will be Northern Premier League side's first 'home' game after a couple of years in exile.

Former Rotherham defender Martin McIntosh is Worksop's manager and a healthy crowd is expected for the fixture.

Admission is pay on the gate and the prices are £10 (adults) and £5 (concessions), whilst two kids will be admitted free with every paying adult.

Both players are currently with Onsabruk in Germany...Thats about as much as i can find.

Kruk is 24 and the other is 23...Neither have played many games.

Kruk - left back, just over 6-1; Stang centre back, 6-4. A couple of monsters. Throw in Matt Duke at 6-5 and we have the beginnings of a master race!

A lot cheaper than buying a house down here.
Looks as if it would convert into a nice property.
Development costs say £50K, not bad for what must finish up a 4 bedroomed property.
UTB

You should look at its surroundings before you think its 'not bad'.

The Grafton is the next nearest ,I'll be in the Romans Rest.

We can confirm that the Colliery is still open.

So, are we supposed to make anything of those not yet in the squad - Monty, quinn and Ched????

Also, subs so looks like all-change at halftime. Hope folk are not paying too much for this - a real trial match.

Reckon we line up like this:

Simonsen
Kozluk Collins Maguire Jean-Francois
Gregory Doyle McAllister Tønne
Bogdanovic Philliskirk

Subs: Duke, Lowton, Stang, Krük, Chapell, Conneely, Harriott, Murray, Williamson, Cresswell, Slew

Yes, may mean that Quinn and Monty is leaving. And Ched!

Tonight's confirmed team:

Simonsen
Kozluk, Maguire, Collins, Jean-Francois,
Gregory, Doyle, McAllister, Tonne
Philliskirk, Bogdanovic

Subs: Duke, Slew, Cresswell, Harriott, Williamson, Kruk, Conneely, Lowton, Murray, Stang, Chapell.

The positions of Gregory, Tonne and Philliskirk I've guessed. Duke and the German triallists on bench. Willo a surprise inclusion given all the others linked with exits aren't involved.

Ah I saw 5 of the players (Simmo, Koz, Collins, Doyle, Cressy) in meadowhell this afternoon around 3 they must have been waiting round to go to the match, I was also trying to see if I could spot more with them due to the game being tonight I couldn't though.

Amen to that, brother. Can't happen quickly enough!

Why on earth is The Joke playing at right-back (or anywhere else for that matter)? I thought we'd released this particular numpty?

Hope to see Matt Duke play the 2nd half. Had a few decent games for Hull in the Prem & would be a good a signing in my opinion.
I'd imagine Simonsen is on a higher wage aswell so i think it'd be a shrewd move to bring Duke in and move Simmo on.

I think it's still too early in the pre-season too look into squad selection for transfer stories. DW will still be getting a look at the players with less first team experience. I won't be surprised if at least one of ched, monty and Quinn are still here in August 6th.

Wilson mentioned a while back he was looking into the possibilty of bringing him back in.

The official site refers to Kozzy being 1 of the 4 triallists we are playing tonight. So no new deal yet.
