Easy to get carried away.

92 point on the field after an almost compete rebuild was very good. The play offs we blew again.

But as any Benjamin Bloom watcher knows, it’s the teams that show continuity and stability that in the majority of cases kick on.

Farke last season and look at Coventry today after some stability under Lampard.

Meanwhile, at S2, it’s all change and we’re. Rock bottom.

Price swallowing time. COH tried to be too smart and found out they aren’t. Time to admit that.
There's 2 types of owners who are very successful in one aspect of life but know nothing about football

1. Those who realise they know nothing about football, get in a manager with a proven track record and let him get on with it.

2. Those who think they know everything and have some great ideas they want to try out.

Unfortunately, we have a 2.

I will be put in the happyclapoer camp and I'm sure people will question my sanity, but i thought a draw at least would have been a fair result.

I say the next bit as a 'i was not calling for Wilder to go, but i did have questions/concerns about him', but i don't think todays performance was any different to a heck of a lot of the performances last season.

Obviously, the result was totally different.

Having said that, imo, a lot of last seasons wins by one goal weren't because of a watertight defence, but because of the poor finishing by the oppo (like us today).

Generally in the happy clapper camp too. Whilst I don’t necessarily disagree the draw would’ve been a fair result, that was only due to chances created at the end once the game was stretched and players were tiring, not down to us having an actual style of play or approach to our attack. We can’t rely on that and need to find a way to actually create chances from the start of the game if we want to win games.

In fairness to Selles, the 2nd half was a big improvement as we finally carried an attacking threat . We were unlucky not to equalise 3 good Millwall saves, 2 efforts off the post & 2 cleared off the line. But you cannot be as woeful as we were in the 1st half and expect to keep digging yourself out of a hole.

I hate to say it, but after 25 years of watching football I know how ruthless the business is. Positive performances don’t pay the bills. Looking ahead, we have to get a result against Boro, because I can only see us losing away at Ipswich. If that happens, Selles’ job would surely be untenable: 5 defeats from 5 & bottom of the league.
I think our improvement second half was more to do with Wall gradually sitting back, oh and taking off the absolutely useless Cannon.

Last season the Burrows inside of the post piledriver and Campbell off the line header go in. Not having any luck when the pressure is on.
We keep coming up against keepers having worldies too. That tip round the post from Hamer was fabulous.
Saying that we lost it first half. Millwall did the job, quietened the crowd, nicked a simple goal and then defended like Trojans.
That’s often all it takes in this division.
But they did have a few other chances 1st half to bury us I can recall

That game had two basic phases, before Brooks and with Brooks. Brooks himself did nothing special but as soon as he came on, everyone suddenly started passing to each other in a way they hadn't before, there was link up play that actually got the ball into attacking areas and created chances.

No matter how bad Cannon was individually, there's no real reason why the rest of the side should suddenly start to function as a team the second he was removed.

I think Selles is typical Spanish manager
sacking Selles doesn’t fix this team but fuckin ell we need to do something
I know we don't want to keep harking back to Wilder but he brought in a tea load misfits and blended them into team, no way will Selles manage to do that, he's an average spanish manager as most Spanish managers are

I'd say 20 minutes of the second half were ok. Pretty decent. Where we pressed, took chances and showed desire to win balls. The rest was utter shit.
Yes half the second half showed promise. Partly because we had players in the positions they are meant to be playing in, and partly because we didn't have Cannon literally leaving the ball behind as he tries to back off between two Millwall defenders.

Well, my prediction was a much improved performance but a frustrating 1-1 draw, how wrong could I be, that was worse. Never leave early but I did today. Some of those players are a disgrace and my message to Peck is, if you don’t want to be here, hand in a transfer request and feck off.
Pecks not good enough mate!

I think our improvement second half was more to do with Wall gradually sitting back, oh and taking off the absolutely useless Cannon.
i agree on that. it helped that millwall stopped attacking, because our defending was still suspect. a better team wouldve been 3-0 up by the time we started to be "dominant" around 55 mins. even with all the chance it felt like we were looking for moment of magic & not deserved pressure

100% this. I felt like the players had said fuck this and tried to get hold of the game on their own without any instructions.
This, I've said for ages, surely when you've got players like Hamer, Campbell and Barry the coaches/manager must discuss with them where they prefer to play, what their strengths are and play to their strengths, we have some talented players, but unfortunately Wilder brought in players without having a system for them to slot into so had a lot of them playing out of position and it's still the same, manager seems clueless as to how to alter it, even the fans turned on Wilders £10m man Cannon, but don't get me started on him

Ok calmed down but …
I am not a football manager or coach but .. why did we persevere with Cannon wide on the right up to about 60 mins ?? And what’s this tikka takka bollocks about ?? Play to our strengths fuck sake

What on earth has happened to the regulars on the match day
thread from last season that frequented this thread with constant
moaning . Are they happy now ? , or embarrassed . :)

At the end of last season we had a manager who led a team to the very edge of promotion to the Premiership. I was rather glad we didn't make it. But now we have a manager who seems unable to get a team to win. It's not always the manager, but Wilder was a good manager, and we needed to keep him, not sack him. I wonder how long we are going have to endure with Selles?

I don’t want to take sides on Wilder, but he hasn’t done to bad out of this club. He is set up for life financially and if not he is not a good manager.
He hasn’t done come in twice and to be honest has given the club and us the best years of our lives, even though it’s not really been in the Premiership.
New owners have come in and let’s be realistic we do not have owners who want to or don’t have the funding to fund a successful club in the Premiership.
The reality is clubs often have to go through periods of transition, the style of play comes to an end and a period of rebuild is needed.
The difference between the top premier clubs and us is don’t have the structure or finance to do it. So unfortunately we have to suck it up

Another bad result, shaky defence, poor midfield, nothing up front. Bad tactics from the manager, our best player, Gus Hamer, why is He playing from just outside our penalty box and no one to pass to? He is a midfield playmaker and should be starting from the halfway line. Peck should be breaking up the opposition attack and giving the ball to Hamer, who can pass it to the wingers. Attack from start to finish selles told us. I have not seen any of that, so what is He doing? He has no idea? The players have no idea what he is trying to do. Selles has never played professional Football. The Owners have no Idea what they are doing. Why get rid of Chris Wilder? A club legend just failed to win the playoff final, got 90-plus points. Played for us, managed a thousand games. The owners have made a mistake. It would have been better to keep Wilder, no way would not have lost three league games, leaving us bottom of the Championship with zero points. Plus, lose the caribou cup game. Selles must be sacked; otherwise, we will struggle to stay in the championship. The longer the owners wait, the situation will not improve. I go to every home game and some away if I get tickets. been supporting The Blades since the early sixties. This is my opinion, so some people may disagree with me; that's fair enough with me.

Called it weeks ago.
The bloke is another imbecile
Iron lung for Mr Peck please our ONE midfielder today.
AGAIN
Burrows must be shitting himself if the muppet Floorboards OHare is in front of him.
ZERO width ZERO CROSSES until Hamer runs wide - apart from dead balls where we are generally poor for various reasons.
If they are big lumps as some have suggested Barry running at them may work
and it could be argued crosses are useless.
But I do not - I argue the opposite.
Get it forward EARLY, get it wide, get them turning and beat them to the ball (and goals and chances) by your mobility.
Is he making it even worse for Cannon on the left where him and Barry have failed but he at least is using to wasting himself there? Surely not.
Difficult to predict when you are dealing with the WTF are they thinking.
The elephant in the room.
Imbecilic zealots with fixed demented totally insane 'ideas' not genuine football managers
I've given everyone average or above based on their (predominantly TOTALLY MISDIRECTED) efforts.
The imbecile Selles got his deserved 1 again.

That was a dreadful performance. The players looked like they had never played together before.

Decent post. But your second sentence makes no sense whatsoever.

Decent post. But your second sentence makes no sense whatsoever.
whereas putting in someone whose teams have never challenged is a work of genius

wilder won games
I may be wrong but I always thought that was the gist of challenging for promotion

this giving other team 3 point gifts every game is poorly thought out plan

watched liverpool v newcastle last night they won 3-2 , very very luckily,, their fans will be screaming to get rid of their manager not winning comfortably , or perhaps they realise you cant dominate for 90 minutes every game, even Liverpool ,take the 3 points and smile , job done
