1-1, typical...

Fonz, how did Colin Nish perform??

5-4 winners on penalties

439 Blades travelled. Anyone on here who went to comment?

Have to say I am a little disappointed with the team selection again. Did he go 4-5-1 (4-3-3) with Creswell upfront and Willo joinin Monty and Doyle in the midfield. Would like to have seen Monty or Doyle rested and either McAllister or Harriot, or Slew infront given a chance. I guess Slew and Davie Mac both got a run out.

Edwards said it was a decent performance, but I always take that with a pinch of salt. Overall the result is pretty good. I would have liked us to have won, but at least we are through. Hopefully we can take some confidence and momentum into the next two (very winnable) home games.

Collins the second taker. That was very brave.

Well done.

UTB

Collins is going to step up to the plate and lead us to glory

listening to that penalty shootout was agony and how ironic that collins & monty scored when i weren't confident but then i have confidence in quinn and he missed to put fans through wringer even more, also hat to to lowton & phillskirk as the pressure on there penalties must have been huge. also pointless fact that was the first cup victory in 19 months as last cup victory was v qpr in january 2010

Apparently Monty's penno was bang in the top corner...I told you he's world class ;)

Didn't manage to get to or listen to the game, but it's always nice to make it past the 1st round, especially after recent years.

Due a cup run maybe?

Mendes Laing was either up top with him or wandering for the ball.

Was a great strike too.

Apparently Monty's penno....

It was one of those that you just can't save.

Bed time now, Quinny had another good one, Mendes Laing looked to offer something different and there's underlying signs that Cresswell may find another lease of life playing in position.

Got vids of a few chances and all pens, will upload tomorrow.

>Would like to have seen Monty or Doyle rested
i'd like to seem them face a firing squad but hey :)

Mendes Laing was either up top with him or wandering for the ball.

So did Wilson play 4-4-2 with a central midfielder (Willo) on the right and a winger (Mendez-Laing) up front? Or was it a 4-5-1, but Mendez-Laing was told to support Cressy as much as he could??

(anyone who went to the match) How did we perform?

We played well enough to convince me that even if Monty and Quinn do go, we won't go down. That is a positive.

I don't think anyone else has said that before the penalties this was a hugely enjoyable match to watch. Both sides gave it their all and played some excellent football. United with a technically better passing game and Hartlepool a more direct approach.

For £15 it was a bargain.
