Actually, I do not believe it was Morgs fault. It was the dying seconds of the game, everybody knows B'ham are going to lob the ball into the box, so why weren't Halford and Speed back on the edge of the D blocking up the middle? If they had been anywhere near, either the ball would not have got to Philips or they could have blocked the ball. No, the team fell asleep thinking the back four can handle it, leaving Morgs isolated one-on-one, something any striker would love. Mental error, but not from Morgan.

I do agree he should have had some help. Granted.

However Morgan could and should have still done better.

Didnt see the goal as was having a piss, but everyone i have talked to so far has said that morgan wasnt to fault for the goal. A striker did his job and beat his man and was a good goal on accounts.

As for cotts starting, they had Mcsheffry down the wing, a very attacking threat and after some games cotts played last season and the neshed challenges he put in i would have started halford too. I would have brought him on though when Mcsheffry went off.

I would have probably put monty in for speed to help with counter attacking and started webber, but there are plenty more games to go.

You're speaking sense, Keenzy.

Morgan was NOT at fault. If he were any closer to Phillips he'd have needed the KY.

I'd just like to provide the above link for people who believe the word "close" means at arms length............

If you watch, Morgan is holding on to his arm with one hand and pushing him away with the other.

If none of you can't see what Morgan is doing wrong here, then I think you should stop watching football.

i think you should stop watching football if you think morgan is in the wrong there.

First time i have seen the goal, morgan is running back, both got arms on each other and phillips has got a good turn and hit it before morgan could think of doing anything.

That go for Blackwell too?

pretty much most people too, robbie will be the only one with a season ticket this year ;)

Oh, and I don't think Blackwell is going to come out and publicly abuse Morgs now is he?

He won't for two simple reasons. One, he won't have a go at his own players in public, especially when they are not at fault, and two, it's Chris Morgan, a man who is scarier than Freddie Kreuger, harder than titanium, stronger than diamond, fiercer than a Siberian Tiger, and from Barnsley.

It's a well known fact goalkeepers know nothing about football.

If Blackwell thought Morgan was at fault, he wouldn't have to come out and "publically abuse" him would he? He would however elude to "individual errors" or "lapses in concentration".

What he most certainly wouldn't say is something like "I thought Morgan was close enough but he's bent the ball just outside of his reach"...

I think words were edited from his interview.....

It should read along the lines of "I thought Morgan was close enough - if he was a keeper - but he's bent the ball just outside of his reach"

;)

Sun Jihai wins our first MOTM poll :)

Considering we had a greater number of attempts on target, would this not mean we actually successfully played a more attacking game than the eventual winners? :)

Just coming back and looking at stats for this game......

I don't agree with the below figures by the way

Birmingham Sheff Utd

Shots Off Target : 3 2

I remember someone once said something about "stats used in the right way" :D

On a serious note though, did someone drop the abacus or what? or are we counting goal kicks as shots on target now?

Like I said, I don't agree with said stats, but thats off both SUFC OS and Blues. Seems bizzare if you ask me.

They only had one shot on target all game, where did they get 5 from?

Could be counting the shot blocked by Killa but that's the only other one I can remember.
