So who is going? And here's the first new post in the reinstated Match Threads bit. Hurrah!

Yeah i'll be going. Im hoping they open the KOP up though so not ordering tickets just yet.

Is anyone going to the open day?

Still debating it, I'm in Derby this week on cricket tour, so funds may be a bit light...

£15 is steep for a friendly

I don't mind paying a bit more to see some decent opposition.

Presumably we will be giving them a fee for coming over. Could explain the ticket prices.

I'm travelling back especially for this one. Actually put my holiday on hold until Monday much to the dismay of the bird...

Can't wait. Buying on the day though in the slim hope they open the Kop. Gets no sunshine on the Stando Southio

I'll be in the Lion prematch. I wonder if the the Ladies of the Lion will be modelling the new shirts ? :)

From the OS:
Tickets will also be available to purchase from the Blades Superstore until 9pm on Friday, the evening of the new home kit launch, and from 9am until 4pm on Saturday.

Fans are urged to buy in advance to avoid expected queues on Sunday.

So I guess that means that tickets will be available on Sunday, might be hard getting hold of them though what with the open day being on.

That was over the line from Ched right at the end.

Played very well today, some good passing football, some excellent stuff.
Hope they can keep it up next week.

I thought so too. Would have been nice if they'd put a replay on the big screen to be sure though.

They did after the game but it was a very poor angle to show anything.
I was up in the South stand on gangway A and could see it perfectly.

If it had been a proper league match I think the players would have reacted very different to how they did today.

First of all, the Open Day was excellent. I'd taken two of the little Disorderly's and we had a great day. They got shirts signed, photo's with Capt Blade, look round Legends of the Lane, Changing Rooms (with long black hair in one of the baths.), media centre, Met the Estudientes team who dutifully signed autographs with good humour. We saw Prozone which was genuinely fascinating, although I have some concerns about how we and presumably other people use it. Anyway, some nice speeches and presentations, and off we go with the rather strange experience of the away team in red and white stripes...

A decent enough performance. We started brightly, making a number of good passing moves with a noticable absence of hoof. Although the Estudientes team were really their juniors they looked well organised and skillful. Morgs did his normal 'Welcome to Bramall lane' challenge on their No9, and all was well. After 20 mins Taylor was injured in the lower back from an innocuous challenge. I think it was nothing more than a tweak or a jarring injury and he will be OK. It was a shame as he had been one of the brightest sparks until then. Bit of too and fro, nothing to get excited about. Half-time.

Second half we opened up the game a bit more. Yeates and Wardy getting more involved and as much as we looked more of a threat, so did they. Lovely freekick hit our post, and then it was time for the substitutions. Once Boggy and Ched came on we looked much more potent in a more conventional 4-4-2 and started to get a bit more space for crosses (none really threatening though), then we got the goal. A corner from the right fell to a bit of pinball and Lowton was on hand to put his foot through it and win the game. Just enough time for Ched to get the ball beyond the keeper but not beyond the lunge of the last man who got it off the line.

So the Sabella Challenge Trophy was won (£17.95 from Castle Market including VAT and engraving) and our second addition to the trophy cupboard so far. Will someone remind Birchy to put our 'contents value' up £50 when he gets back?). So we, and the other 5.600 souls gave everyone a warm round of applause, and legged it home for dinner/to the pub. Yes, a good day...

Nice report thanks Dunc. All the alco family in attendance commented on the lack of hoof. Encouraging.

Enjoyed the game & Yeates was MOM IMO.

Ched played well when he came on.

Encouraging for Cardiff!

Pretty much agree with Dunc but wasn't their post hitting free-kick in the 1st half :p

I thought Ertl played well and added some much required height in the middle. Britton looked tidy and tenacious, very rarely wasted it and we need to get him involved as much as possible. Thought we passed it around well, resorted to a bit of hoof in the last 15 of the 1st half, mainly when Kozzy had the ball but encouraging. Wardy and Yeates in particular played better the longer the game went on although I wonder whether it was the fact we went to 4-4-2 and there was more space in the middle as the game opened up a bit.

Lowton looked pretty composed in the middle of defence, not sure whether that's supposed to be his position or not, the triallist did OK, a bit clumsy at times but tough tackler, got forward a bit and lasted the full 90 considering he was supposed to be unfit.

All in all, encouraging enough for a friendly but worrying that KB has started the last two friendlies with just Cressy up front. Looks odds on that we'll start with that formation on Sunday.
