Nobody is disregarding the awful season we've had but you're only as good as your last game. New system, freshened squad. 6th time lucky? We may have played well the last few games but that is zero excuse to totally disregard every game before it. After what this club has been through, three games of playing well shouldn't even scratch the surface for encouraging optimism, and if it does then you have an extremely high acceptance level. The majority of the evidence from this season suggests nothing is going to improve any time soon, I'm sorry that's just the reality of the situation.
It's actually pretty grating to see threads like this as it lets those at the club that have subjected the supporters to such disappointment year after year off the hook to a certain extent. It makes it seem as though we're not bothered about finishing outside the play offs in league division three and we'll let 'em off. Which is an insult to all those that have shelled out season after season and are generally and genuinely pissed off with the sheer amount of underachievement we manage every bastard season.
If I remember correctly Sunjihi didn't mention any names when he made that post did he ? It was just assumed he was referring to Adkins by other postersIf Sunjihi and Mike Stephenson are right, Adkins is out at the end of the season,so we are in eessence starting from scratch again.
Very much hope so but nobody can dispute that on the balance of evidence, it doesn't look good.Nobody is disregarding the awful season we've had but you're only as good as your last game. New system, freshened squad. 6th time lucky?
But he did state that CW (Chris Wilder) was favourite to replace him and then that we would get a DoF too. I don't know what else he was talking about. I'm hoping he was wrong though. If I remember correctly Sunjihi didn't mention any names when he made that post did he ? It was just assumed he was referring to Adkins by other posters
I think Danny you can take it as read !! Adkins will be here next season, all the signs point to this I would be amazed if we changed managers again.I've been excited for every upcoming season while we've been down here and as always it turned out to be a major disappointment every time. I think we will be better somewhat next season but we still might not even be in the promotion mix so I'm not going to fall for it/get carried away again this time.
We're not even sure if NA is still going to be here after the summer, I hope he is as I don't think changing the manager yet again is the right answer.
McEveley and Flynn are just playing for a new contract in my opinion, they have been solid but I reckon once they've got their new contracts under their belt they'll probably revert to being their inconsistent selves. They're only average players, we need a little more quality in the first team than these two if we want to gain promotion.
when did Mike Stephenson say that TB?
Edit: just read back through his tweets and he mentions hearing rumours and that there's no smoke without fire etc
I hope he's got it wrong as I feel we'll be going a further two steps back after already going one step back this season
Generally speaking, and despite the lower league position, I am more optimistic of our prospects for next season than I was this time last year. I think it's taken longer than it perhaps should have for Adkins to shape the squad and style as he'd have liked, but I think you're starting to see things come together. All we need this summer is:
– sensible recruitment
– moving on the deadwood
– a nice lovely red & white striped home shirt
Sign Baptiste or similar and that will be a good starting point.
Good point that it really is crucial

favorite with who ? The bookies ? I think he was being a little mischievous . it reminded me of the posts EIGHTEEN89 used to make on Blades Mad. Very vague and didn't really give anything specific just so he.she could say they were right all alongBut he did state that CW (Chris Wilder) was favourite to replace him and then that we would get a DoF too. Yes it was after Sunjihi had posted.
Hoping he's just jumped on the original post, one or two on VIP Blades said the same regarding Adkins.
Would be insane to get rid of Adkins now, Sunjihi hinted we are going down the Director of Football route, time will tell, but I can't recall the lad being wrong before.
He did once say that the guy representing Ched Evans had never lost a case which was nonsense.
.
Never lost an appeal, he said
Been playing extremely well though, can't be denied
Yep. But absolutely no evidence of anything to give us optimism for next season. This lot are playing for their jobs. Amazing how they have suddenly started to put results together now the day of reckoning is amongst us.
Agreed. Great win. The real work now starts in the close-season.
pommpey
As soon as I read the story about Baptiste, where a clever get touched his wife's arse in a bar, and he chinned the bloke and knocked him out with one punch, I knew he was the sort of bloke we needed in the back line, no nonsense!, OK we might not be able to sign Baptiste, but someone like him with the same attitude is what is needed for starters.
Every team needs a hard nut (more than one if possible), and he is a good start.
If we can't afford Baptiste, then someone similar please.
Same physicality and mentality in midfield, no nonsense, hard as nails.
Hopefully we are already scouting these types.

It just goes to show how badly this club is being run when Blades fans are easily content with the possibility of having such low calibre players in McEveley and Flynn remain at the club, especially despite what is probably the second worst darkest period in our history.
Although football especially in the premier league is slowly becoming a non contact sport...
