Around a year ago I was at the Proact to watch the runaway league leaders comfortably beat Chesterfield.

Today I saw United playing the same 3-5-2 system that Bristol City used that day do the same. Im not a big Adkins fan at all, but maybe, just maybe, he's found a system that works.

I still think the personall need some tweaks but we looked comfortable today.

MOM - Paul Coutts (deseves a goal)

Shame we don't really have any goal scoring midfielders. Flynn had enough shots on goal today.

Seems like a good performance though, hopefully we can keep building on this.

The triangulation options that 3:5:2 gives as opposed to 2 flat lines of 4 is something not lost on me. Long been an advocate of 3:5:2.

But as has been said, having the right personnel is key !

Isn't Adkins generally a 4-4-2 man? Ok a 1-4-4-2 man?

It'll be interesting to see how he recruits over the summer.

3-5-2 definitely suits us atm.

Presuming he's staying, I can't imagine Hammond as one player in a four man midfield.

We'll see.

Agreed - however - who'd have thought that Chris Basham would perform better than John Brayford in that position?

Reckon the "Brayford question" will be high on the agenda close season. For me, unless he plays as one of the CB's the money would be better spent elsewhere.

If we want him off the wage bill I bet a deal could be done, and he certainly likes their manager.
I'd imagine we're paying well over 10 grand a week, and I'd be surprised if they could stretch to two, so if we do a deal it won't really be helping us out much.
