There could still be a slim chance of the play-offs, as Gillingham could be the ones to drop out. If we beat Gillingham at home on Saturday, we would only be 6 points behind them. And their run-in isn't easy:

Blades away (8th)
Walsall home (3rd)
Port Vale home
Rochdale away
Shrewsbury home
Burton away (2nd)
Millwall home (6th)

So, even though Millwall and Southend were seen as our last chances, could Gillingham be our real our final shot?

It's a fight between us, Dingles and Millwall for 6th. The only real way to do it is to win all matches before April 23rd then beat Barnsley.

Unlikely, but then I had Walsall as a nailed on defeat.

Still, at least there's something resting on the Gillingham game now. Win it and we're 6 points behind them with 5 to play. Other teams must slip up too of course, but making up a 6 point gap over 5 games isn't impossible

There's a slim chance. I reckon Gills will turn us over, though. The odds of two top-six teams in a row coming to the Lane and dramatically under-performing ain't great.

Nothing to fear and a good time to put a run together, but we've seen too many false dawns this season for anyone to really think we've turned a corner with that Walsall victory. Take each game as it comes.

Walsall didn't under performed we played well and stopped them playing, let's be right about this.
Now we want a repeat against Gills
onwards and upwards

As I thought Walsall would, was not looking forward to that game at all. Depends which team of ours turns up on Saturday, one that gives a fuck or one that thinks the Walsall performance was enough for a while. Don't think we have a prayer of the play-offs but I'm looking forward to the Gillingham game now, not really sure why.

Gillingham won't beat us. Look at their recent away form. They never score more than one.

I hadn't thought about this but beating Gillingham and then catching them probably offers us the best of the hopeless possibilities.

We can't win consecutive games though so I think we'll draw.

I'm taking nowt away from United in that victory. We were much sharper than we've been in ages and we played very well. But Walsall had a cracking away record and are third in the table. To say they didn't under-perform on Saturday is to imply that they were at the races and we still beat 'em. I didn't see it that way, and nor did their fans if Roy's 'View From...' is anything to go by.

Ha you think Tomjonesblade will ever give Utd any praise ? Come on

???

Are you confusing me wi someone else? I've been accused of quite the opposite not too long ago.

It would be unusual.

I think you'll find it's not

Just a crappy and oblique reference to your username mate.

if we can win all our games we could should make it as history says 76 points would put us in it as others wont make that
if we lose just one more 73 is far less likely to achieve it
5 wins and a draw and 74 would be the minimum we would need , unless 3 or 4 teams collapse

when we have made play offs our final 6 results have never been great
teams wobble under the pressure now more than anytime in the season

Keep your hat on :)

Just let it go Dk....
It's the hope that kills ya'.
It will be all over by the weekend.

Just done a predictor league thing (bizarrely on the Grimsby Town 'Fishy' site (?) and based purely on other team's recent form and Blades winning every remaining game, then we will finish 5th (level points with Bradford in 6th). Walsall and Millwall miss out.

So, to answer the question.....probably not!

We had all the answers on the day Tom for Walsall fans to say they under performed is sour grapes.

I got us finishing 7th and Barnsley 8th. It passed a few minutes anyway ;)

Have to agree to disagree there, fella. They were bobbar on Saturday. Can't get to 3rd by being that shit, which makes me think they've probably performed far better than that on many occasions this season.
