There's something going wrong if we don't sign anybody. We all can see that this side isn't good enough for promotion. And Adkins is no mug, he's been up out of the league three times so he knows better than anyone. You can all say "we need to get rid before any come in," but every man and his dog knows that the vast majority of our players are out of contract in the summer. So even if we can't get rid now, surely with a bit of ambition we can take the hit financially for a few months and at least appear to have a go at getting promoted. What's the cost of not trying? Fans lose faith. Another season in League 1.

Unless we genuinely are that near to the FFP limits. But I doubt that.

But it is a signing. We had him on loan until end of December, when that contract ended we signed him up again. Technically/factually a new signing.

Im sure some people would rather have us sign 2/3 average players instead of getting rid of all the deadwood.
We haven't signed a SINGLE PLAYER and we're outside the top 6 as it is. So are we writing the season off already? Pathetic.

They've got to keep some cash back for the arrivals in the summer.
How else are they going to generate S/T sales.

something to lighten up the day:

"I've bumped into John Terry on occasion and asked him many times to join me," Pardew said. "He always sniggers at the suggestion.

FFS even got PC World's know how team's official twitter taking the piss out of us now:

I'd be smug too if we'd just signed McGeady. Quality signing that.

It's already looking unlikely that we will see anyone sign. To be honest I'm not really fussed either way. Would be nice to see them surprise me but by now we would surely be hearing some real sounds from decent sources.

Once the forum meltdown starts at 9pm I'm steering well clear for a couple of days.

With regards to John Terry, I spoke to Nigel Adkins outside the Lane today before the U21s game, and he said that we definitely wont be signing him.

Is anyone really expecting us to sign anyone ?
Im not ,all the noises from everyone at the club have been around shrinking the squad not improving it
Wont be a meltdown from me just an apathetic shrug of the shoulders

Well, it is an opportunity to improve what we have, whether it is grasped by those in the carpeted section is another matter

Wigan will come in very sharp focus on Saturday ............................. :)

"It's a really exciting time, isn't it? Lots of action, anticipation. Great for everyone to be involved in.

We made a lot of enquiries, all were quality players that we thought would improve the squad. Unfortunately, sometimes they don't come off. Sometimes you're waiting for one club to get a player in so they can afford to let one go, and that team will be looking at a number of bids. Still, we've got faith in our players, we're right up there chasing the back, and we'll look towards the loan window to get some cover in key positions.

How about a smugly phrased shit motivational cliche?"

- Nigel Adkins, 2nd Jan '16

Is it really beyond the realms of possibility for a Manager to take a job which has certain promises.
Then the promises don't materialise but he has signed a contract so cannot financially walk away.
Therefore he sees the only course of action to fuck it up so he gets sacked and paid off.
Answering any future sleights on his character by saying the club that sacked me were in absolute turmoil from top to bottom, my hands were tied, promises weren't forthcoming etc.
Just a thought.

A 'thought'?

Not even worthy of an infiltrating pig.

Pathetic.

Yes, that is beyond the realms of possibility. Adkins isn't that type of bloke.

Whilst I don't think Adkins will go out to lose or anything, if nothing happens then he has clearly been let down. All the talk of staying in touch with January showed he thought there would be incomings. You wouldn't blame him for walking.

Might be the only way to salvage his career.
He's been let down big time. He wouldn't have took us on if he thought we'd be in this state.

I bet he is stunned. No way would he have taken on the job if he knew he would have to sell his best player and only be able to bring in two permanent transfers all season.

Still naively hoping to be proven wrong but it's looking like we've written off another season.

On this day in 2013 we signed Jonathan Forte on loan to replace Nick Blackman. That went well

I personally don't mind if NA has decided that he thinks we have enough and don't need to sign anyone, but then why do we employ a Head of Player Recruitment and Scouting?

He clearly wants more. He said BEFORE we sold Murphy we weren't good enough
Also, he's talked about 'staying in touch while January'

He's been let down big time by the muppets above him
