Follow, Follow, Follow...etc - what a rubbish song.

One of my favourites (and one of the nastiest) that I've only ever heard on cramped away day coaches:

"Woah, oh, oh, you're massive? We know. Davey Jones is a paedo!" To the tune of Oh Oh It's Magic. Might be a good thing we don't get that one out at matches...

One song other clubs do that I wish we did is that one to Que Sera Sera. I heard the Bradford fans singing it about Leeds once before they played us the other year. That one about your father's gun. We could have it for us:

"When I was just a little boy,
I asked my mother what should I be?
Should I be Wednesday? Should I be Blades?
Here's what she said to me:

Wash your mouth out, son.
And go get your father's gun,
And shoot the Wednesday scum,
And support the Blades."

A few optional "We hate Wednesday"'s as a coda would top it off nicely.

Sometimes I wish I was old and boring like a lot on here. Saying it's not like the old days. Of course it's not, it's only the younger generation of fans trying to generate an atmosphere. They don't get much help from miserable fuckers

Shit songs are still shit songs now or fifty years ago.

It just isn't the same any more. Song quality has definitely gone down the pan.

The days of chuckling away to the roar of a few old favourites are sadly no more. Shame.

Celtic, Rangers
Celtic, Rangers
Celtic, Rangers...
and on and on....

wasn't this another from the archives?

I'm sure Rangers fans say follow follow or is it Celtic?!

That's it, I've heard Alan Brazil saying Hail hail on talksport, but I confused it for Rangers. Either way I'm not as big fan of our follow follow song but it does rhyme at least!

I like the variety of songs and see nothing wrong with the "follow", song, and the others mentioned - as long as they aren't repeated endlessly. I thought the variety at ManUre, for example, was really good.

The problem at BDTBL is getting people to sing, not what they sing.

I have a vision of those who moan about the atmosphere, and it includes church mice. :)

UTB
We did a wide repertoire of Blades songs at Man U which was refreshing.

It included Wings of a Sparrow as it happened.

I think it's just too tense at the Lane currently. We need to get into the top 6 and thrash a couple of sides.

Here's hoping.

That's a different song.

Rangers' sing "The Billy Boys".

Starts off with ...

Hullo, hullo
We are The Billy Boys...

They also sing "Follow Follow"
another hymn "Follow On"

Easily mixed up, unless you're at The Louden Tavern (Rangers) or down The Tollbooth (Celtic).

They didn't like us mentioning Celtic on Bladesmad did they ;)

No you don't and trust me, one day you will be.
Personally I've got nothing against new songs, I just don't like follow follow. It's not even original.
It's occurred to me that maybe we don't have as many 'catchy tunes' in the charts these days. In the seventies and eighties there were a lot of pop songs that were very singable and easy to turn into football songs like 'Son of My Father', 'Sailing' etc.

But don't stop singing it because some people don't like it. As others have said, better that than silence or booing.

Interesting stuff. Always preferred Rangers myself out of the two, but wither way I've never seen an old firm match. I'm one of the few I reckon in England who would love to see them join the English football league.

One of the best new (to SUFC at least) songs I recall was the Ched Evans song;

We bought a lad from Man City called Ched, called Ched
I'll take you to the Premier League he said, he said
He scored a goal and that was it,
The shoreham boys they had a fit
Chedwyn Evans United's number 9

I did suggest that it now be adapted for Che Adams;

We bought a lad from Ilkeston called Che, called Che
I'll take you to the Premier League he said, he said
He scored a goal and that was it,
The shoreham boys they had a fit
That Che Adams Uniteds 29.

Does anyone know the origin of that song? Was it for a Manchester United player by their fans?

Originally a 60s / 70s song sung by many a club.[/QUOTE]

We got on a free a lad called Martyn
He thought every game, I`ll be startin
His influence was nil
So Adkins swallowed that bitter pill
And said in the summer, we`ll be partin

Think you'e gonna have to scrap the Che Adams song in a few days or two anyway! I like the Woolford song! He has improved to be fair, but that's one position we're crying out for someone who can scare full backs and beat a man to be put in a decent cross, as opposed to just crossing from the half way line like Woolford does!

Or what about the classic to the same tune, 'you're going to get your f**kin heads kicked in'.

It seemed good fun to sing at the time (late 70's) but I had no intention of doing it but was more than happy to join in from the other end of the pitch!

ha, just posted the same before I saw this. A lot did have the intention of doing it in them days as well.

It's easy to make one up, just getting people to sing em is the hard bit..

"And you keep us going up and down but that's alright with me"
"Division two, division three, don givens penalty"
"But that's alright with me, yeah that's alright with me, Annnd that's all right with me, cause we're all blades aren't we, yeah We're SUFCcccccc...

Using a brilliant song living on the ceiling, blancmange for the inspiration here..

I'm sure others could do better

now just get thisen at the back of the kop on Saturday and give it a whirl, I'll be listening out for it when they all join in ;)

I don't know the origin but a variation was sung about Colin Addison so it's probably about 50 years old !

"Scored a goal and that was it, the Shoreham Street was in a fit and we all went mad when Addison scored a goal".

Doesn't get mentioned that often but what a terrific player he was. Could do with someone like him now.

There was one snappy little number I recall sung in the late 60s or maybe it was early 70's, to the tune of Dead End Street by the Kinks - " what are we living for, to see W********y in Division 4" . As they say be careful what you wish for eh?

Anyone know the ending of, or indeed the correct words of

My old man said be a Wednesday fan
I said f@@@ off, Boll0cks, you're a c@@@
We'll take the Hillsborough and all that's in it
We'll take their kop in half a minute
With hatchets and spanners, carving knives and hammers
............

I am sure it was "Tudor scored a goal" in that song UnitedBlade....................."Feeling Sad...Feeling Blue...United 2...Wednesday 2...when....onto the pitch came John Tudor huurah...hurrah....when onto the pitch came John Tudor hurrah... hurrah....he scored a goal and that was it...the Shoreham Street we had a fit...we all went mad when Tudor scored a goal.........." I think it is sung to celebrate the 3-2 win over the piggies in the Promotion Season 70-71 (?).......bit before my time but I do like that song........more of a pre-match pub sing-song in my opinion .

I remember it being about Tudor. I remember the Addison one being " he's here, he's there he's every f*****g where, Addison,Addison"

It was maybe sung about both Tudor and Addison ?
