Martin Kuhl, ex Blades midfielder has been appointed caretaker manager at Reading. Was a decent midfielder for us, if I remember right he didn't fit in with Dave Bassett's plans and he was quickly moved on.

That's right. It was Agana and Hetherstone and 40 grand for Kuhl.

Yes. They were relegated in 1984, went up in 1985, and came down again in 1986.

Kuhl was great when we first got him in 1986-7 but lost his way a bit the following year (in a bad team, admittedly) and that was a great deal for us.

Slightly tangentally, last time I saw Kuhl play was in a Hong Kong League game in 1999. John Moore was also playing, and Glyn Hodges and Ian Baird were playing for the oppositon.

Kuhl's team lost 6-2. There were 5 sendings off in the first half hour, leaving it 8 against 9 for the last hour. Kuhl was sent off, but what was more remarkable was neither Baird or Hodges were sent off...
