The stewarding at the Lane is something that has me puzzled.

They insist on no standing, and considering the stadium is all-seater, they have a point, albeit a small one. However does anybody notice the away section can stand up all match long and the stewards do fuck all about it? Newcastle, Man Utd, Wendy, and many others.

Smoking. Now football grounds country wide are non-smoking, and I heard of a lad stood outside the toilet on the Kop being given an £80 on-the-spot fine for lighting up, do the stewards do nothing about the bloke two rows in front of me who managed to smoke more embassies than the SAS last Saturday? If the new lady steward sat at the bottom of gangway F did her job instead of watching the game then she might have seen him, after all he sits in an aisle seat and is marked by big plume of smoke every ten minutes. I smoke but don't inside the ground, so why can't people abide by the ban without getting arsey or just ignoring it?

Beer. Why is it that the law says you can't watch a match and drink, but the stewards on the Kop don't care? More concerned with chatting and standing in the bloody way.

they let you get pissed off your tits at music venues and listen to the music but cant have beer and football. can also watch rugby, cricket while drinking.

At rugby it's compulsory to drink.

And wear your pants on your head, and de-bag your mates. Then be sick.

Think the smoking rule is ridcolous myself its an open area.If you cant smoke in the stands make designated areas where you can.

its not open though in the stands, people are sat bang next to each other. they dont want the smoke in there face and i dont. smoking area maybe, but has be next to the toilets out of the way.

i can see you and your hat. like the batman sign in the sky

I don't want people smoking near me - it's disgusting and I don't want to breath it in!

Although yes - stewards are normally useless. Them at MK last night were watching match majority of time

have the smoking near the toilets so when someone has dihorea it stinks the smokeres area :D

If somebody cant go 2 hours without a cig there is something wrong with todays society.

i agree robbie

i cant believe people can be that desperate they cant go that long it seems pathetic to me!

Same could be said about buying food in the ground, can't people wait to or have something to eat before the match?? (I know theres alway an exception, but it's 2 hours without food FFS)

There is a difference though.....buying food puts money into the club, smoking doesn't.

I'm sure people could go with out food, but by them eating does not affect other peoples health like smoking does.

It may also be pointed that diabetics may require food during a game, and majority of grounds will not allow you to bring anything in to stadium.

I was talking about the 'being able to wait 2 hours for a fag' comment and relating it to the food as well.
People seem incapable of not eating even when they don't need to, even I do it - 2 Mars bars every match. I never eat them anywhere else so why do i do it at football?
People also buy the food, slag it off every week and still buy some at the next match - It's as if there's a magical force that makes them forget how bad the food really is.
On the Smoking ban part, it's nice not to have cigar smoke blown in my face every game.

That's only when watching. You have to do it twice when playing. Not to mention the initiation ceremonies (other wise known as complete and utter ritual humiliation).

The only one you know is coming is to have your clothes covered in mud, and soaked in the showers, and/or pissed on before you come off the training pitch for the first time.

Jolly good days.

Yeah I think some people are forgetting the point here.

Its YOUR choice and decision if you want to get something to eat, you however get no choice when you have to breathe in other peoples smoke.

Damm smokers, they cost the NHS billions of pounds a year and then have the cheak to complain about being banned from smoking in public places.

Think the amount they pay in taxes for cigarettes more than covers this.....

Doesnt change the fact that they are taking up hundreds if not thousands of needed beds because of smoking related illness.

They should charge 20 quid for a packet of fags.

But the taxes they on these cigs is what makes these beds reaily available in the first place.

Don't get me wrong, I totally agree with you and hate smoking, its a disgusting habit. But there is a flip side to every coin.,
