Good Adkins Interview

What can he actually do on Saturday? He has the same squad to chose from again and has opted/been told he can't addressed our issues.

I just don't buy it. Clough guided us to a 5th place finish last season with a very similar squad, he managed to motivate pretty much the same group of players and got them playing enough to win some games. Our squad isn't great by any means but they should be doing better than what they are now. The players look disinterested? Surely man-management has to partly explain this? Adkins performance so far just hasn't been good enough.

Why drop Done? He is one of our best players and one of the only players who puts in 100% every game. He will score if you play him. Why did he drop K.Wallace for Harris? Harris is a very poor player and Wallace was in good form and looked a promising prospect. Why did he drop JCR? He has been one of our main threats all season and is one of the only ones who tries to make things happen. For me, substituting Collins for McEveley was a sign of a bloke who has lost the plot.

He can shove his positivity up his arse for all I'm concerned. We need fight, we need passion and venom, not flying swans.

Hits the nail on the head towards the end - "we've got players who should be good enough to get us out of this league".

That's bang on, it really is. But why aren't they performing? Has he lost the players? They seem low on confidence and nobody seems to be picking them up.

4 goals to Shrewsbury. That's it for me. We're fucked.

i wish he'd just come on and have a Clough style rant. it would cut him some slack with the fans.
i'm not advocating sacking Adkins but he has to finally do something.. NOW

It's alright saying there will be consequences but actions speak leader than words. He should start today by sending the 3 loans back (Edgar, Hammond, Sammon) and admitting he got it wrong with them.

We can't send Sammon or Edgar back without paying for them for the rest of the season. Having no recall clause works both ways.

Shit management was a big part of tonight ,he doesn't mention that. Second half was a case of chucking the 11 least shit players on and play where they want. Tactics ,selection ,motivation were terrible from Adkins.

Didn't go so wouldn't argue, but would argue the lack of anything from the players shows they have as little time for us as we do for them. That situation calls for people to put aside any petty differences and show show pride in themselves and some committment to the people who turn up to pay their wages. Sack NA now, they win again, and will swan around as and when they feel like it for the new guy until they decide they don't like him either.

It's time for someone upstairs to do a Dave Whelan/Paul Jewell and tell them "he's staying, you're going", but - and here is where the big problem lies for me - who on the board has the force of personality and power to do so without being laughed out of the dressing room. If I worked for an organisation where the man in chargre spent seemingly all his time on twitter asking about goal music and the like, I'd take the piss too.

I wouldn't write off this season just yet. Look what Clough did with Weir's squad (and a few January additions) in his first season. Clough was appointed on Oct 23 when we had just 9 points from 13 games. We finished 7th, and almost made the Play Offs, (not to mention coming within touching distance of the FA Cup Final and the Europa League)

Currently we have 26 points from 19 games, just 5 points off the play offs and 11 off automatic. The season starts at Barnsley on Saturday, hopefully with the Beard in the dugout at least.
After Weir, we all thought Clough produced a miracle in getting us to 7th.

The really worrying fact is if Adkins gets the same ratio of points as Clough did, we'd get 73 points. Possibly enough for 6th but not guaranteed.

The frightening thought is Adkins is facing that task now thanks to our relegation form of 14 points from 14 games.

Would anyone bet on this shower achieving such a run ?

I thought it was a decent interview TBH. he knows were in the shit and knows that the players are just not good enough. However he has to take some of the blame.

Saturday is now a huge game. Does he stick with the same team (even though he said there would be consequences) or change the team. win & he will get a well done. Lose and the shit will really fly.

Shit interview listening for reasons why we lost again.

A good interview would be listening to him praising players for their hard work and winning a game

Sorry Blade56 you'll be waiting a long time for a good interview then.

Time for him to follow these words up with actions.

There needs to be wholesale changes and I'd start with dropping the seemingly untouchable Sharp and Hammond. He needs a positive performance on Saturday. Barnsley are fucking dreadful and losing to them on Saturday would feel nearly as bad as losing to Shrewsbury last night.

You're bang on the money there. Sadly it won't happen. NA talks about 'consequences' what does this actually mean? The players know we won't do anything and the same or similar will play Saturday. So it doesn't really matter what he says.

Sounded shell shocked to me as if he was still trying to digest the performance of the team he put on the pitch while being interviewed.
