NoooooooooOoooooooooOooo!
....and he's 32!?!? Wtf!
Don't know much about him tbf but he played in the PL last season for Leicester. Him and Dean Wilkins go back a while.

What about Stuart McCall. He was a similar age to Hammond when he signed and he had a tremendous impact on our promotion push back in 05-06.

Getting very close now...can feel it in mi bone...

McCall was 38! Hammond is a spring chicken in comparison.

Too right, if we don't go up guess what will happen, our best player will want out and be sold again.

How can we build if we're selling our best players cause we're stuck in League One?

We won't have to sell them, most contracts or if you prefer a large percentage are ending at the end of this season.

Big big re-build next term, really hope its in the second division because building in the third will set us back.

This seems to be slipping under the radar.

Sorry, Surrey Blade, but Stuart McCall apart being a similar age to Hammond when he signed for us had nothing else in common - Hammond never has been anywhere near Stuart McCalls' class, quality and ability at any time of his career !
Get real, if Hammond was any good he would have been snapped up by a Championship club - if he comes he will be little improvement on our existing midfield, he won't be the saviour and I doubt whether he will offer anything better than, Basham, Baxter, Coutts et al !
On the positive side - he will probably be an improvement on Woolford !

If you think that the board won't sell one if our best players if we don't go up, you've not been watching how our board behaves.

Hammond is being targeted to play the role played in the higher leagues by the likes of Cowans, McCall, Speed etc. The deep lying, old head in midfield to conrol the game. He's never hit the heights of the likes of McCall and Speed but we are a league lower so the comparative role is likely to be similar in my opinion. More often that not I can see him playing with Bash but against poorer teams at home where the opposition offers little attacking threat, we might go for Baxter instead.

Noticeable that Adkins is yet to do his prematch interview on Radio Sheffield - whoever interviews him normally asks for suggestions via Twitter and the interview is uploaded fairly swiftly. I wonder if the possible announcement of this deal at 4:44pm is anything to do with it...

Id wager a decent amount on that.

For what it's worth, according to Leicester fan forum, "Clubcall are saying that Hammond will be off on loan to Sheffield United, "before the end of the week". (posted yesterday afternoon).

Also, from same site, some comments on Hammond:

"Good. He's got no future with us and it's not nice to see a decent players wasting away like this."
"Hammond is a good pro and a very good and steady player. He's never been spectacular just a good steady player who does the simple things well."
"No complaints, did what he could, served the club well. Thanks

"He has to go.We have four players ahead of him and Matty James back in light training. He'll do well to get on the bench at some point this season let alone any game time. It's best for all concerned."
"Whereever he goes, he'll give his all as he seems to have that type of personality and won't feel resentful against us."
"Heard he was going Sheffield United about a month ago but must be happening now, decent player and always got stuck in...."
"Still got another 2/3 years left in him; but he lacks pace, and hence Kante and King are more suited to this league."

Should fit in really well with our midfield then !

Every time we sign someone over 30 it's inevitable someone posts 'what about Stuart McCall?'
I'm surprised no one's posted 'yeah, and Gary Speed' yet.

And if Hammond has a beard, you can guarantee someone will post memories of Trevor Hockey.
