Thoroughly Depressing

It's the result of chopping and changing managers so often. Adams brings his men in, then Danny Wilson adds his own, wier clough and now Adkins. Managers leave but meanwhile players are on 3-4 year deals and the fact we're probably the highest payers means it's hard to move these players on.

Spot on, you've hit the nail on the head, there has been no room for managers to clear off 8-12 players which are dead wood, take this season for instance, I reckon given the chance Adkins would have got rid of at least 8 and loaned out 3-5 more. But he's hancuffed to Higdon, Alcock, Coutts etc what's he suppose to do. IF we got promoted we'd probably begin to shift some of these on when their contracts start expiring but even still they can sit there and wait another year or 2 till their times up.

Getting ready for game tomorrow. Looking forward to it.

Murphy looks like he is about to go.

Just when I think we have strikers with plenty of goals in them, the major supply line is sold !

Depressing news indeed.

Just had a look up there at players contracts and when they are due to expire. Jesus fucking christ, how on Earth did we manage to accumulate so much shit! From defenders who can't defend to midfielders who barely trouble the scoring chart and a pedestrian attack! A Leeds fan at work today said he couldn't believe Collins was still earning money playing football, neither can I to be quite frank!

For the last few years (few months under Wilson apart) I can count on one hand the number of games in the 3rd Division I've gone to and come out thinking yes that was quality, last seasons home games were virtually all carbon copies of each other.

I personally think there is no money available for signings because looking at what Adkins did at Saints and even Scunny he signed far better players. Have we had an update on the Prince's intentions and not just soundbites from Phipps.

Looking at that list above its like we've purposefully built a middle of the road 3rd division side!

What's thoroughly depressing is that its taken until September 16th for Adkins to announce that the defence is crap.

And its only a warning not a fact.

Get thi finger pulled out Adkins.

Even more depressing is that trudging out of the ground on Tuesday most Blades fans seemed resigned to another season of failure !
I am quickly becoming disillusioned with the new management regime - shows little improvement on last years efforts (or lack of effort should I say !)
When he took over Mr Adkins stated that we needed to score more goals and stop conceding silly goals at the other end - unfortunately he doesn't appear to have instilled his thoughts into the team yet !
The players lack heart, desire and passion and whilst I am not his biggest fan, Billy Sharp looks like the only one that gives a toss !
Sort it out Mr Adkins - sooner rather than later because the last two home games were no better than the fare served up last year and Mr Clough paid the price with his job!

Without reading any of the previous posts, what I found depressing was looking at the team and saying there are at least 6 players who should not be playing league 1 standard.

Still, we had a good transfer window apparently.

Your right LS26Blade, but Collins isn't that bad, but still not good enough for what we want.

Well that's down to scouting isn't it? I just don't understand criticism levelled at the board; look at the numbers.

The board still open to criticism in my humble opinion, but I agree the scouting system more so, occasional gem like Che, but quite a few dross/injury prone or both.

Some of those players are from 'proven' or 'playing at a similar level' are they. McGahey, proven? A grand total of 4, yes 4, games for Blackpool. K.Wallace, ilkeston, really? That's where we got Che from but you can see from the amount of scouts watching Che that he was an obvious exception. Point remains, Ilkeston, I know we're playing at a shit level but you do realise they play lower than the conference, don't you. I wouldn't quite say that's at a similar level. JCR, just a bang average league one player isn't he? Notts County.. it's ok going for the best in the league but a 30 odd year old journeyman is a definite no if you want promotion. Moving on to another I mentioned, Scougall, Livingston? You must be joking on that one, right? And as for Higdon, fuck knows which league that joker came from so can't speak on the level he played at but he certainly needs to go back.

That's 4, possibly 5 out of the ones i've mentioned so coming back to your statement, 'All had proved themselves at this or a similar level.'

Based on all evidence, I would classify that statement as resoundingly false.

I get your point but if a player is good enough, shouldn't matter which league he is from, though one or two have been bought for development, they have been thrust into first team action maybe sooner than we thought.
