  • Surprised to be sent out on loan last season - but that's in the past
  • (According to Buchan, Adkins praised JCR's crossing ;) - Adkins out anyone?)
  • Players encouraged to express themselves he's got another dimension to his game
  • Buchan diplomatically says there was not much attractive football last season, Jam gets on to how all staff - presumably including the tea lady - are focused on promotion

So why was he sent out on loan ? Another Clough fall out ? Very strange but no doubt some Clough apologist will be here to tell us the reasons fairly soon.
Shields or someone tweeted it was for personal reasons then deleted his tweet so make of that what you will.
I also heard Clough didn't realise he was black until after he'd signed him. Same with Che, thought he was Spanish.

With a name like Jamal, that's surely bollocks

I heard a theory that JCR's exit was in part because Notts C had games against lots of our promotion rivals coming up. We wanted to give them a lift. That's probably bollocks too,

So this directly contradicts what Shield said, ie the club had told him that the loan was for personal reasons.

JCR says he did not know why he was loaned out.

Looks like another episode of the Nigel Clough Man Management Masterclass.

We were desperately short of creative and threatening players in the run-in, indeed any sort of forward player. Clough didn't play Ryce much if at all even when he returned and he also had a blind spot for Che until the 88th minute at Swindon. He had fallen out with Diego of course. Done was on the bench many times but hardly used and didn't play a full game until the Swindon match, though it seems he did have a condition which hadn't cleared by this season, which makes his inclusion even on the bench simply ridiculous.

Added to that we were even more bereft of central defenders but Collins was ostracised and McGahey another out of favour.

You couldn't write the script, if you did the main man would be the self destructive character going down with the sinking ship and refusing to use the life-boats because of his obstinacy, steering an unchangeable route to the iceberg, bollocking all around him and blaming everybody but himself.

JCR just another player left confused by Cloughs time in charge. Seems like he never wanted to go out on loan and I remember it being a surprise to us all when it happened. True county were playing our rivals but we could have done with him in our squad.

Hadn't he started the game before he went out on loan, too?

Although I seem to remember he was taken off at Half Time.

That's my recollection. Clough had a furious go at JCR in the first half (need to check the game). He didn't appear second half, I assume they had a row and JCR had the temerity to stick up for himself. Next minute he's on loan and unable to help out when the going got tough in the last few games. Brilliant man management again, so glad he's gone and we have positive Nigel now.

Seems very happy with life here now, & relishing the new-found freedom & encouragement for players to express themselves. Interesting too about this approach which allows him, not just to cut inside, but to drift more centrally & attack the heart of the opponents' defence.

And Nige loves him too, going by a recent interview I recall hearing - praising his character & his influence on younger players.

All good, in my view - always liked him. He's a genuinely exciting footballer, who both scores goals & creates (despite his often preposterous crossing).

P.S. Saturday promises some serious excitement if he's gonna be playing wide right & Che on the left from the start. Score could end up being about 8-5 or summat!

To suggest Clough was wrong with everything is madness and verges on a continued vindictive nature, especially as most are once again speculating and guessing.

Some have never managed anything - it's a fucking very difficult job dealing with people and all the foibles/problems that they have.

Lots of people in life have problems and skeletons in cupboards - footballers probably more than most.

Clough also had his issues, but as the boss he had to make decisions - decisions that may (although no one really knows) have cost him his job.

Just let it go with Clough FFS - he's gone.

Clough
Why should he blame himself when you can use numerous threads to re-hash your continuous attempts at blaming him?

I'll bet, in a previous life, he had a bakers shop on Pudding Lane back in 1666.

Fair comment but may I say that the main reason for my continued comments ( relevant to the thread as they always are intended to be, I don't start the threads) is the concern I have about that poll which showed 60% thought Clough should have been given more time. That view resurfaced after the Colchester game in fact and it wasn't me!!

Interviews like Ryce's add to the others from within the club that confirm the Clough regime was appalling by the middle to end of last season. One very wise man on here said months ago that only after he had gone would we realise how bad the Clough regime was.

On another thread someone says Adkins' style could look sugary if we have a bad run. That's when I worry about those 60% who will soon click into "Clough should have stayed" if they think he was unfairly treated. Let's dispell that, maybe have another poll now and then I'll shut up.

We are not guessing or speculating. James Shield gave a reason why JCR went on loan. JCR denies it in this interview.

I find that interesting and worth discussing

Surely if he's good enough to make a difference against our rivals in a Notts C shirt he's good enough to be playing for us.When challenged on it Clough said someting in an interview at the time on the lines of "and yet lot of our fans saying they didn't think he was good enough not that long ago" - like he would do summat like that based on fans opinions! Smells of an inter-personal issue to me.

Careful Fullers, thanks to Cloughy, we've only just seen the end of the Warnock threads.

that's fine - discuss all you want, but you have heard one side of an issue - without all the information from both sides, it is just speculation.

As for James Shield - has he suddenly become the font of all knowledge? From reading this forum, the phrase "Stir" is normally attributed to that source.

The board sanctioned Clough to make decisions. which is what he did - that's what management is about - some can't grasp that reasoning.......oh yes, it's a boss making a decision.

He was a man of integrity and a true Blade,
I assume that you are being very sarcastic?

I can just imagine the guy in your avatar saying that
