Three Centre halfs, One box to box mid, A striker and a winger, maybe a goalkeeper
I hope to see Cuvelier and Adams given a good run though so..

McGahey.Only one centre half? Who would you play as the other centre half?
McGahey.
Come on fella, live dangerously.Whoa.
Come on fella, live dangerously.
I tell you, you'll enjoy life more doing it my way.No. I'd prefer competence if we're going for promotion.
No guarantees whatsoever that Adkins will get more out of the players than Clough.
I tell you, you'll enjoy life more doing it my way.
Plus I honestly think with an experience centre half next to him, McGhaey will be a very good Championship level centre half.
He was a young inexperienced pro, who was thrown into a disorganized defence seriously lacking in leadership. I thought he looked OK, just inexperienced and left to organise a back four on his own. There was nothing in his performance last season to support this.
If somebody with your outlook were in charge we'd be in this league forever.
We've got half a dozen championship class players at the club and a few more maybes more than enough to build around.
Adkins will bring in where necessary and I'm sure we will start the season up and running.
To say we need a complete new eleven is ludicrous
So you want Adkins to bin a full squad and start from scratch what a load of bollocks.Well forgive me, but haven't we already been in the league for 5 years straight? I'd love to hear who the half a dozen championship class players are you speak of, that's absolute tosh. Not a single player was in team of the year, none of our players are in demand, we were low scorers and serial conceders last season, so unless these lads were hiding I fail to see where all this sudden quality has emerged in our ranks.
well judging by the stuff they are doing with Hallam Uni, and the application of sports science that is part of his method, they should at least be fit enough, unlike under Clough who specialised in signing crocked players and who, I think I read, shuns a lot of the new technology.
All professional footballersshould be fit enough. I don't see what a day at uni will do.
no harm in measuring it properly, this is what he's done at his other clubs and it worked there. I think we did have fitness issues last season.Agreed. I always thought fitness was a mandatory basic requirement for a footballing career.
Inb4 the pedants!
My own view is that we have a lot of talent in the squad, in particular in the various wide positions. We also have decent forwards although we're still lacking physicality up front.
Where we are weak is the spine - Centre backs we all know about and I'd argue we need another central midfielder with height and power. I'd also have a bigger centre forward than we currently have. Being really ruthless, I'm not sure Howard is good enough either. His form last season was horrible.
The following seems to be the most desired line-up for the 8th of August;
Howard
Freeman, New Signing, New Signing, Harris
Adams (Flynn?), Basham, New Signing, Murphy
Done, New Signing
Bench: Long, Kennedy, Collins, Wallace, Coutts, McNulty, Baxter (dependant on hearing)
- Possibly Flynn in if Adams doesn't seem up to it, but I can see Adams really impressing next year.
- Jury out on Wallace and Coutts but they could provide extra strength in the middle if they prove to be quality which in my opinion they will.
- Brayford in for Freeman and Freeman in for Harris would be best IMO when the beard's back from injury.
If you'd make any changes please do so, would be interesting to see how you see it.![]()
So you want Adkins to bin a full squad and start from scratch what a load of bollocks.
So Done, Murphy, Brayford,Basham,Adams,Reed,Freeman possibly Harris, Flynn and Coutts and a good few juniors arent a good basis to start.
Adkins will strengthen where necessary then watch.
You are serial doom and gloom merchant you would probably say a realist but you are way out here
Respect from me mate because to me everything said here is bang on the money. So you've already changed from good championship players to solid basis.
Look, there's a reason we finished fifth last year, and it's due to the names you mentioned. What you did, as many people have made the same mistake, is confuse our better players with being good players.
I can't argue the list you mentioned are our better players but seen as Brayford will be injured, the only player in that list to even play at a higher level is Basham, who was released by Blackpool who turned out to be the worst Chanpionship side in history last season.
I was called a doom merchant last season, and every single prediction I made was correct. Sometimes you need to accept you're deluding yourself. As I say, we don't have a single player who is the best in their position in the division. So how on earth do you expect us to win the league? There is argument for us to strengthen in every single position across the pitch, and I fail to see how, after watching a full season of us last year, you can come to any other conclusion.
Not one of our players would get into the side of any of the recent winners of league one, surely that's the bar we should be holding them to, would you agree? We have better players, but good championship players? Way off pal.

Last seasons gone a new era awaits.
If being negative does it for you keep with it,we've got a proper leader now and I'm positive pal.
Have you seen Billy Sharp's recent record ................... piss poor.
I wasn't the biggest fan of Clough but even when he was in charge and employing the correct formations and tactics we gave Bristol , MK,Preston,Swindon big problems. Then you either don't want to debate or accept you're on to a loser with that post.
I am not negative for the sake of it (as I was proven 100% correct last season). What I would like is a justifiable reason to be optimistic. I cannot stand people straw clutching and trying to argue our current squad is anywhere near decent after watching us all last season. We conceded too many and didn't score anywhere near enough, now why would anyone think this forthcoming season would e any different? I trust Adkins will bring in the quality required, which is what I am optimistic about. I don't think it takes a pessimist, realist or optimist to realise that our squad last season was nothing short of truly average.
Not even Done a goal every other game playing solo up front, Murphy takes two players to try and keep him quiet,Total sweep of the board. I neither rate nor value anyone other than Adams to be frank.
