"Little Butch"Certain posters will probably never use his proper name and always refer to him as "Ray Wilkins Brother"
Ian BishopWho is the Wet Sham player, I recognise him, wasn't he some jack-the-lad type who used to get into hilariously mental (of his own doing) scrapes or am I getting distracted by the transgender hairstyle?
Think there was a third brother - Graham. Played left back for Chelsea(?)
TC did a little speech at the QPR cup game in Feb, about the cup final etc, I think it was the anniversary. Spoke well. Went down very well with both sets of supporters. In his interview yesterday, he said one of the things he was looking forward to was meeting up with Tony Currie again, they were at QPR at the same time, though Wilkins was only in the reserves. I'd forgotten TC was even there, although I'm sure he remembers it, as he managed to get to the FA Cup Final in his time at the club.....
Yes thanks Silent and Bergen - the gay story, thats what I remember. Btw I wouldn't believe the Shammers' fanzine article as far as I could throw it - totally unreconstructed bunch of Mockerneys finding homosexual players a ridiculous concept.
Bishop hey, the name says it all.......
Oh give over naughty boy"Little Butch"
For those that haven't heard it.In his interview yesterday, he said one of the things he was looking forward to was meeting up with Tony Currie again, they were at QPR at the same time, though Wilkins was only in the reserves. When i first watched the interview, it seemed to me like all he was looking forward to was chatting to Tony Currie. For those that haven't heard it.
United's new first-team coach Dean Wilkins is backing boss Nigel Adkins to bring success to Bramall Lane, but says it won't be easy winning promotion back to the Championship next season.
Wilkins was part of Adkins's backroom staff at Southampton where the Saints won back-to-back promotions starting in League One, under the stewardship of the former Scunthorpe boss, who signed a three-year deal with United on Tuesday.
The 52-year-old remarked: "It has got to be a step-by-step progression, but we work well as a group and we will also put some processes in place to give the players that opportunity to progress from the Academy into the first-team.
"Promoting from within has worked successful for us as a management team previously and that is part of our DNA as a group of staff, so we have to make sure that works here too.
"Nigel will bring the whole Club together as one, you will feel part of it and equally as important as anyone else regardless of what department you work in, that's vitally important.
"He will take care of the overall objective of us trying to win promotion, whilst myself and Andy (Crosby) will work tirelessly with the players at our disposal to make them better on a daily basis, both collectively and individually.
"To be successful the players need an environment where they feel confident and able to flourish. That's what we believe works best and we want the players to express themselves both on and off the field."
Meanwhile, Wilkins, the younger brother of former England international Ray, is looking forward to meeting up with the Blades greatest ever player and Club Ambassador Tony Currie, having played with the United legend at QPR.
He added: "Personally, before we get started with the football, I am looking forward to seeing Tony Currie, who I had the privilege of playing with at QPR, albeit I was in the reserves.
"It will be fantastic to have a good catch up with him and I know how highly he is regarded at the Club."
The part where he says the best way in which to be successful really does strike me as to where his predecessor went wrong in one respect, i'm also pretty sure this was discussed when the interviews took place and this could have ultimately been the reason NC got the boot. This is only an assumption mind but i think it's one that has to be taken into consideration.
It's also interesting that it sounds like Wilko and Crosby will be mainly dealing with all the training regimes and Adkins will be seemingly letting them get on with it which to me is a good thing and makes for exciting times at the lane. Let Adkins pick the team and tactics and let the ones who are there to train the players and tactics into them do their job.
TC might have tried to forget ... although he captained QPR in the replay he gave away the penalty that lost them the game.In his interview yesterday, he said one of the things he was looking forward to was meeting up with Tony Currie again, they were at QPR at the same time, though Wilkins was only in the reserves.
