Strange if that's true bearing in mind we don't appear to have made a definite decision on who our manager will be next season. Unless of course McCabe/Phipps have decided he has to go irrespective of who's in charge.

We miss him when he is not there and he won't be there next season.

Thanks captain, nobody has tried harder than you, good luck wherever you go. I hope we find a player to lead the side and to hold the midfield together, filling in wherever needed, all that unheralded hardly noticeable stuff. Whoever that might be is not already at the club IMO. Positional play, good engine and 90 minute concentration all part of the package as is that bite and fight.

In my opinion its a step in the right direction for this club, as much as i love Doyles commitment, we really need better than him to get out of this league, and before people say hes consistent, its because he rarely attempts any thing other than a 5 yard pass back to the centre backs, so never looks like hes doing anything wrong, but like i say for his commitment and effort i wish him all the best for the rest of his career.

Rob Staton from Radio Sheffield reporting that Michael Doyle won't be retained...very interesting. If it's the case, will be sad to see him go - been a very decent servant for the club

Doyle's place amongst United's heroes and villains is interesting. I think it was the sending off against Fulham that brought about a reappraisal of his value to the team. To be blunt, he has been detested by sections of the support, unfairly I think. Trouble is, I think the same one-eyed critics held Doyle responsible for doing the job of a much better player, which clearly he has never been. In short he is someone who should break up play and then give the ball to a better placed colleague, no more or less. He's quietly effective at this, but the supporter expectations I've described have lumbered him with a set of talents he's never possessed.

Most probably he's been a great force for good in the dressing room, and since the Fulham game he's performed adequately, and at times very effectively. I hope he finds another club, probably at this level, that will benefit from his experience.

He was never going to be here much longer plus he is the last of the relegation team along with Collins.

Good luck to him though.

Interesting with players like Doyle. hes averaged about 7/10 on Deadbat reports, but regularly got slated from the fans. Coutts has averaged about 4/10 but gets defended to the hilt.

Yes you want players to be good enough and have natural ability but hard work, desire, pride, loyalty and commitment are the main thing true football fans are after. Michael Doyle has these qualities in abundance.

Someone had to pay the price, after the play-offs heart break.

epitomises our plight since 2011, not good enough.,
An average L1 player since joining our club.

This includes the 16 games he played for us in the Championship when we managed to amass a hugh haul of 8 points.

He won't be missed and surely we can find someone better equipped to play central midfield in this division.

Has my original post disappeared?

Rumour on BM yesterday is that Doyle has left the club along with Collins

Also, from someone who get's snippets on BM, Bash and Baxter are unlikely to be here next season!

We'll miss Basham if he moves on. I guess back to a championship club

Now then, take the name Doyle out and what Ex-Blade's name could you put in there instead and your comment still be totally true?

;)

Instructions carried out to the letter

Nick Montgomery ...

Erm I meant to delete all the Fulham references

Yes, the similarities are glaring. In some ways, over the years we've gone from signing really decent players to the jobsworth who collects the canteen plates and wipes the tables. I want better BoSS, too much to ask?

With the accuracy of rumours on BM then it's more likely all of them will be getting new contracts than leaving us.

Interesting that he says that Danny Wilson was one of the best managers he has ever worked under

Also interesting that when asked (about 5 mins in) if Clough is the right man for the job, rather than say "yes" he said something like "it's not really for me to say, that's the club's decision. As far as I'm aware, no matter what my opinion is, Nigel's going to be the manager next season."

Could just be bitterness at not getting a new deal, but I did feel that was interesting.
