Diego declines contract

Jose Baxter has told Diego to listen to Clough.

Interesting in Murphy's interview post Spurs he says Che is learning a lot about pro football and Clough is the best man to teach him.

Lots of other professionals speak highly of Clough and some drop divisions to play for him.

Despite your illogical rhetoric, I would suggest if there is an issue with Diego and Clough, the issue is not with Nigel.

Well, there are two centre backs he won't play who've both had long careers and captained clubs. Not to mention the bullying of McNulty via the press. I would also assume he must have fallen out with Porter, since he re-signed him then relegated him to tea duties. McGinn has also disappeared without trace. I'm not saying any of those should play, but it's clear that Clough has a certain style of management.

I'm not saying that Diego isn't the problem, who knows, but Clough has hardly had great relations with all the squad this season. I'm merely saying he hasn't been given a chance to show whether he's good enough or not in purely footballing terms. Others have had more than a fair chance and continue to get game time regardless of their current ability. It;s hardly surprising that Diego isn't rushing to sign a new contract. He's probably made more appearances for the Italian u19s than us. Watched as Porter then Higdon push him out of the squad. As a non-league player jumps over him in the pecking order.

I was mainly re-acting to those slagging Diego off.

I think it is up to Diego to knuckle down here, sign his contract and prove his worth here first, before he starts getting any big ideas about moving elsewhere.

Football is football, the same the world over, if he shows a bad attitude and doesn't knuckle down here, the chances are that he won't elsewhere, and his career will disappear without trace.

There is something i like about him as a player, but he needs to be showing why he should be getting regular games by proving himself on the pitch and in training, and not be getting games because he has played for Italy at U-20 level.

A match is only 90 minutes of the working week, they turn up at Shirecliffe every morning to do their days work and I'm sure that this time has as much influence on the management's thinking as a game does and most of us see fuck all of training.

.

Don't be silly.

All because a manager doesn't pick a player it doesn't mean he has fallen out with them. It means he doesn't think they are good enough to play in the team. That is what happens in football.

As for McNulty being bullied ? Being critisised doen't mean you are being bullied. Especially if the critisism is correct. By your definition, the crowd are bullyin Higdon and have previously bullied Quinn,Tonge,Hill,Doyle and so on.

Clough doesn't think DG is good enough for the 1st team squad at the moment. He sees him in training and will have watched him at York and will be a better judge of what is best for the team than me or you.

He'd only be the new bullying target for Clough anyway.

Who has Clough "bullied"?

The McNulty 'bullying' nonsense is simply good man management by Clough. The last time this was leveled at Clough, he perpetuated the bullying by starting the poor striker at White Hart Lane in the next game. How very awful of the bully. If Clough seriously had a problem with McNulty he'd have zero hesitation in freezing him out of the squad. Instead he's trying to develop players in the right way. He has a good track record of this elsewhere, and I trust he knows what he's doing based on his daily interaction with these players, rather than our heavily-removed sense of a situation. He did exactly the same with Adams on Wednesday criticising his celebration for the first goal, rather than getting the ball back to restart the game.

Don't think it was a criticism of the celebrating just that Nigel has a very dry sense of humour.

We'll wait and see then pal ,it must be true if clough said it mutant it

The tone of this post wouldn't seem advisable for someone in your position. You may be right, and you may not have intended it to read that way, but a sarcastic remark about your son's employer on a public forum? It doesn't look good.

I respect your belief in your lad (I share some of it), and I really don't care if you support United or not, so I hope you don't see this as an attack. But my advice would be to take a lot of care on social media.

Good advice JD, but he won't take it. The fellow has no feel for this sort of thing at all. He is a complete numpty.

Perhaps the team should be selected by players, their families and agents in future?

Diego, his silly dad and daft agent (aided by the Boy Band fan club on here), must think this is some sort of Sunday League set up. Pick me when I say or I'm off to the Dog and Duck. "DiMaio Senior" seems to agree with that approach. I say they're a bunch of jumped-up know nothing's; out of their depth and not a football brain between them.

I love how some of the posters on here slate the club
It makes no sense really. He's better trying to start a career at another club as Clough clearly doesn't like him. Whether that's justified or not, I don't know but he's not the first player to fall out with our manager this season. He'd only be the new bullying target for Clough anyway.

LOLZ.
So Clough is a playground bully now?

Jesus wept.

DG has 2 options.

Id like him to stay & knuckle down & make it difficult for clough to leave him out.

Option 2 is to leave & probably sign for a lower champ team or serie A/ B team & get loaned out to Serie C

Well, there are two centre backs he won't play who've both had long careers.

One isn't here anymore and was awful in pre season and the games he played. The other has not been good enough for three years and has come out himself to say there has been no fall out.

Not to mention the bullying of McNulty via the press.

What a load of crap. Saying someone has had a bad game or a bit of tough love man management for someone he trusts to play in cup semi finals is NOT bullying.

I would also assume he must have fallen out with Porter, since he re-signed him then relegated him to tea duties. McGinn has also disappeared without trace.

Porter and McGinn have clearly not been good enough. I think it needs pointing out that falling out with a player is not the only reason you don't pick someone.

I'm not saying any of those should play, but it's clear that Clough has a certain style of management.

Yeah he tends to play players who have the right ability and the right attitude to contribute to the prolonged success of a team. Good isn't it?

I'm merely saying he hasn't been given a chance to show whether he's good enough or not in purely footballing terms. Others have had more than a fair chance and continue to get game time regardless of their current ability.

He has had chances on loan and in the games he has played - as well as every day in training that we don't see.

And I really don't get your regardless of ability quote?? If Louis Reed was useless do you really think he woukd be getting these starts just because he appears to be a team player with a mature head on his shoulders?

Sorry fella but that post is one of the biggest loads of crap I have read on this forum (even including some of the crap I post!) - full of untruths, baseless rumours and illogical opinion.

Hold on a minute, who is this a19 fella?
We have a player who is not getting a fair crack of the whip according to this person who is also ITK about other young players in the team. Don't you just love it. I met one of Scougalls mates last week. He will be talking to him this week. then I will ITK.

Dimao senior, who is doing his lad no favours either spouting his mouth off on social media

He isn't to my knowledge, and the only thing I've seen personally was a throw away comment last year? Unless I've missed something.

Connor is a talent and will do well if he continues to progress.

I cba to dig it out, but he confirmed he was quite recently, probably while you was pissed up in Lisbon ;)

Strange one with Diego, reminds me very much of the Nicky Law situation under Blackwell. Talented player with top clubs sniffing around and supposed "good" contract offers made by us but ultimately not given a chance barring the odd game. Key for me in both cases is the strong parental figure apparently pushing the player to seek opportunities elsewhere. Both fathers have their heads screwed on both from a football perspective and a business perspective.

Law has ended up a decent player in a similar standard to ours albeit on a fair whack given the size of the club he plays for, I think he same may happen with Diego maybe overseas.

Good luck to the lad and although you'd like to see us develop and cash in on all players we bring through inevitably some slip through the net either based on late development or clashes with the management team.

It's a good problem to have that we have other youngsters that are playing instead and it may well be that his face doesn't fit and he doesn't say and do all the right things like Reed and Kennedy obviously do so let's focus on enjoying them before the inevitable sale to a top club in 1-5 years time. We will never hold onto players in the Jags/Tonge/Quinn way while we are in league 1 or the bottom half of the championship but need to make sure the next batch are waiting when the sale happens.

I can't see any harm in correcting someone if there wrong. It wasn't a sarcastic remark to or about clough it was just a remark to the post at me just because someone you look upto i,e clough says something it's not forced to be right everyone makes mistakes.
I think people have made a wrong judgment on myself probably thinking I don't like clough or the club and they couldn't be futher from the truth I think sheffield utd are a wonderful club with a great manager just because my sons not being picked week in week out doesn't mean i don't like the manger or his ways he's the man that has given Connor the chances he's had and we thank him for that but he chooses what he thinks is his strongest team I may not always agree on his choices but that's life. Just like yesterday when the team sheet was posted the amount of fans slating his team selections was unreal but then they won and all is forgotten and that's football in a shell it's all about opinions and everyone's opinions are different. (Which we'll probably see in the replies to this post some May like it and other won't lol)
