The plan for this season

The plan … not to get relegated .. a mid table finish at best .. and hopefully lose no one else in January despite Bettis forecast … and pray the Yanks Russian Roulette game with the previous owner doesn’t land us a 12 point deduction…. Other than that there isn’t one 👍⚔️

We can say goodbye to Rothwell, RND, Choudhury, BBD, Dohery, Shackleton, Ayew and Riedewald.

But we probably lose Seriki though. Bamford also. McCallum out of contract too?

Some of the worst players are still under contract long term sadly.

Cannon, McGuinness, Chong till 2029.
Campbell and Matos till 2028.

Incredible decisions to hand such long term deals to above.

Our best two outfield players are currently loan players in Phillips and Donovan.

Course Peck, Tanganga, Cooper and Arblaster are until 2028.

TBH I'd not be bothered if we had to build a brand new squad completely. Its a largely poor, unlikeable bunch with little re-sale value.

Not sure there has been any clear plan at all looking at it from the outside?
The decision to give the last 5 mentioned long contracts is gonna bite us badly as no one’s coming along to take them off our hands , awful recruitment & even worse contract negotiation.

As you say Rothwell , Choudhury , BBD , Ayew , Docherty & Shackleton really wouldn’t be missed at all . I think some were signed squad fillers . With our overload of defensive central midfielders, I can only think the management/ hierarchy thought Peck going last summer was a shoe in that never happened .

Shackleton has been absolutely terrible signing 3 years of wages just be the physios sidekick .

Sadly we’ll lose the likes of Cooper , Peck & Seriki …Donovan will have a bright future be it at Brentford or elsewhere ..Kitching will be back at Coventry when they’re relegated & Philips will move onto pastures new if fit as he could be playing for a lot better side than us .

The club needs a lot better development plan going forward instead what we’ve had .. and I take that statement referring going back years not just the recent past . But the nature of football now & owners wanting ‘just add water instant coffee success ‘ flies in the face of the above sadly .

I really am falling out with the modern game not just the events at our club , if truth be known if I wasn’t meeting mates for drink & social side I don’t think I’d be going anymore …and that’s something I never thought I’d say ⚔️👍

A Director of Football is primarily in charge of signings, yes? Having Wilder in this role would be terrible for us both present and future.

Historically, his main attribute was that he’d been managing at a lower level, so he knew that level well enough to identify the best players from L1 and L2 for us to poach. This was how he put together our promotion teams. He’s not managed at that level for years, so now that knowledge has gone and the only players he seems to be aware of are the older, more well-known ones whose better days are behind them. His constant moaning in interviews also won’t be winning him any friends throughout the game. If we are to get a Director of Football in, it needs to be someone who is willing to listen to scouts (something else we also need to improve on) and with good contacts and positive relationships throughout football. This isn’t Wilder.

Stay in the Championship then next season rebuild with Championship & Div1 players
This season gas been wasted on balancing the books and that player ratio cost thing which we've jumped into

Stay in the championship is a must, dont know if the majority of the fan base can stand the boredom though🤔

Spot on 100% correct.

If I had to pick a side I would say I'm a Wilder man, but I have no Wilder in/out agender, just a best man for the job agender.
But Wilder as DOF, just thinking about it makes the back of my eyes hurt, a lot.

if/when he goes, he goes all the way out, and no coming back this time.

i was a massive wilder fan but not now and whether its this season or next summer we have to go for a younger more progressive manager wilders tactics are driving blades fans away from the lane and our away followings are becoming embarrasing change is needed at bramall lane

He could become a new player liaison officer…Driving new signings around town showing the fleshpots of Sheffield.
