Diabolical defending. You've done the hard part and pulled it back level from 2 down with 10 men, but can't just one of you out of the three stood ball watching fucking mark the pompey man who is on his own?!

Absolutely shocking. Basic stuff. Sorry not Wilder can't do much about that.

It was really frustrating to see 4 of our players stood in the box ball watching, with their player left completely unmarked. But any team down to 10, that is trying to defend a score is going to tire, both mentally and physically at some point. Sadly, in our case it's compounded by the fact that a lot of our players are fucked after 70 minutes, even in the best of circumstances.

This is where mental strength and resilience is lacking in our squad. We don't have any real leaders aside from maybe Peck, who is too young and immature to lead this team currently.

Spot on, and I think where a good captain is needed most.

I don't think it's down to tiredness, we ALWAYS leave opposition players in acres of space in and around the box and then take an age to react and close them down. Like the long balls down the channels and the sideways passing, it must be instructions from the management because it's so consistent.

Even my my son's team (u10) have been coached to not leave players on their own near the goal, and half of them still toe punt at every opportunity. Why are our experienced defenders/midfielders not scanning for players near them? It's amateur stuff.

Have your U10s been coached to defend with 10 men for 55 mins ?

Nope but they also aren't highly paid, extremely fit professional footballers.

Plus we had 11 men when the right back was given all the time in the world o drop the ball in the far corner for their first. What's your excuse for that one?

Drop the ball ? Hahaha yeah ok stick to u10s footy

I other words you've got no excuses? It was a great strike but a highly paid pro should be able to do that sort of thing when given as much time and space as he had.

Wilder boy #1 Peck with an awful clearance followed by Wilder boy #2 Choudhury being absolutely nowhere near anyone despite the ball moving around his RB zone. But they'll still be the first names on the teamsheet followed by the abomination BBD.

So it was a great strike and he dint just "drop the ball" into the back of the net? BBD abomination? Didnt cover himself in glory but get a grip.

Whats concerning on that is it' not the first time a team has scored a cracker from outside the area this season. Its not just a one off, its becoming a pattern. If we are going to rely on people not being able to finish from outside the area, its going to keep happening all season!

Our players have been guilty of not marking or challenging opponents in or around our penalty area for a couple of seasons now. Its common practice and has everything to do with our manager and coaching. Its a massive problem for us, its happened umpteen times this season already. I don't think we are being coached properly, theirs something wrong for this sort of unprofessional behaviour to keep happening. Its Sunday league and has to be sorted ASAP or we will go down this season because we definitely do not score enough goals. We are unfit, unorganised and unprofessional.

Its a car crash between Tanganga and Peck - both of which seem to be marking thin air. Donovan caught a bit in no mans land but would expect him to be on the 25 on the back post anyway. Our captain is not a captain, said it time and time again. He's no improvement on Jack Robinson imo.

Thankfully I didn’t see their 3rd goal but the defending for their 2nd was atrocious aswell imo

A great strike where he dropped the ball in the top corner because our inept defence/midfield let him.

BBD hasn't had a good game for us since we had him on loan in the last premier league season. He's slow, not skilful, no passing or crossing ability, doesn't shoot. He's awful but he's a Wilder Boy so will continue to waste a spot in the first 11.

Anyway, back to the original point - What's your excuse for the first goal when we had 11 players that weren't defending and "tired"? A competent defender/midfielder deals with it, our right hand side has neither.

Their goals:

First one. Poor clearance but - a poor response to Pompey taking repossession and continuing the pressure. As soon as Swanson gets the ball he has all the time in the world to steady himself, get his stance set and his foot round the ball before any of our defenders get out to him. Don't get me wrong it was a worldy and we don't score goals like that now Gus has gone.

Second one. Chong has McQueen. He is Chong's man. Chong has seen him thread Choudrey up his own arse until sent off so sit, position yourself, offer him the inside channel on his poorer foot if you have to but don't let him get past you and get the cross in FFS. And hey guys, let's just let turn to stone statues and Segecic drift in like a ghost and nick the goal.

Third one. Whose man?

Sky efl have their first goal as contender for potential goal of the season. Some dropped the ball in the top corner eh?

It's literally basic stuff. You don't leave players unmarked in the box. Unless this is their idea of zonal marking 🤣

I get your point but being a man down does not excuse ignoring your basic duties. It's not like he was in a foot race. He was static in the box

Being a man down always means they are going to be a man over. Yes we wern't tight , but whos pulling the defence into position?

We also made it way too easy for them to get the cross in that led to the third goal by standing off so much 😮‍💨.

Just came upon your stills of the 3rd pommpey goal, l count 6 united players, 7 if you include Cooper, against 3 from pommpey , that's simply appalling defending
