I think it's hilarious how certain posters like GeorgeDonis1889 don't understand the term 'technical' footballer

Just another goal for Marsh yesterday in a loan spell that's doing his confidence the world of good, while we're paying an OAP 20 odd k a week to come off the bench, not be a goal threat and tire after 3 minutes.

Marsh is, by a distance, the most technically gifted attacker we've brought through the youth setup bar the obvious superstar at Man City. Bags of energy, bags of talent and despite being slight he finds pockets of space allover the pitch.

Ayew is 35, coming off the back of 2 relegations, has never scored double figures in his career, and put into an unfit, slow and lethargic team with no energy is the complete antithesis of what we need in the team right now.

Wilder's talk of 'needing experience' as a reason for signing Ayew just makes absolutely no sense to me and is a huge reason why I think he's done for. All he's signed is experienced past it has beens or never beens, the young players we have ARE experienced. The only one that isn't is on loan from Brentford and happens to be our best player

He doesn't like bringing youth through, he doesn't trust them. But if Marsh leaves the club without having a proper run in the team or chance to prove himself it would be the biggest damning indictment on both the manager and coaching staff yet. He has everything you'd want from a deep lying forward/number 10 at this level. He's basically a young Bamford, and it's crazy that we haven't just had him as his understudy for the season...

I think sending marsh out was akin to the sliding doors moment we had with Brooks' cancelled loan to Chrsterfield.

We are crying out for someone to link midfield to attack. Unfortunately we chose to loan. We were still in the cup too and opportunity to integrate him was there.

From what I've seen of Marsh, he's going to be a L1/L2 player

Ayew being injured just demonstrates what a waste of a signing he was, if One is fit after the break, it'll be a choice between him and Campbell for who makes the bench (an easy choice for anyone who doesn't love unfit old guys). An extra stiker was completely superfluous and just takes up wages and a squad place.

I like Marsh but with such a bloated squad he wouldn't have been making the bench most weeks so letting him go out makes sense, although if we'd developed him better in the past few seasons he should have been a backup to O'Hare who was ready to step up by now.

Admittedly I've only ever seen Marsh play in the daft cup games... but... at 22yo, id say there's probably a reason he's never played at a higher level than League 2.

For comparison, Tom Cannon was a full international at 21.

Marsh has played for England U20 at youth level (and scored) and it’s a lot harder to break into the senior England team than that of the Republic.

I’m not saying he is as developed as Cannon but I’m not sure mentioning their international prowess is a fair barometer.

I’m also not clear that Marsh playing one game out on the left is a fair means to assess him. But pointless in fact.

I’m not saying he is as developed as Cannon but I’m not sure mentioning their international prowess is a fair barometer.

I'd say the real barometer is that he's only played at L2 level, then a few games in SPL

Hopefully Marsh kicks on at Chesterfield for a full season, better than bringing him back to this shitshow in January. Once One is fit then Ayew should be on tea making duty.

Is it really a concern when the injured player can only do 10 minutes when “fit”?

We don’t have money for players who score and create but we seem to have pots of money for stiffs like Ayew, Doherty Campbell and Riedewald.

It's just a terrible take and you're now trying to look like you understand football more by saying "technical footballer". I understand it's just still a terrible take. Osula is better technically than Marsh. Now and when he was at Marsh's age. Osula will have a far better career because of this.

I think this exchange highlights your level of knowledge on football.

Somethings not right behind the scenes and we've had injey issues and fitness issues for years now.

Id like to know the outcome of the internal audit undertaken when Hecky was here regarding to the injuries and fitness of players.

Not only have we sold our 3 best & creative players but they were also our most available players and replaced them with injury prone and unfit players.

Excellent reply. If we had a 21 year old capable of playing in the england senior side 1) he wouldnt be witb us & 2) he wouldnt be picked anyway, if he was even still playing for us beacuse we are unfashionable.

Look at the state of england lcb when Joc was probably the best englishman playing in the Premier League and still couldnt even get a sniff at a chance of a call up (if he was playing for a different club, hed have had a cap).

Where as, if he was Welsh or Irish I suspect he would be featuring more for their national sides at his respected age group.

That all said not every player develops at the same rate as others, cannon his physically more developed than Marsh and was at his age. Hence the call up. At 21 he was more like a 25 year old body where as marsh seems to have that if a 17/18 year old.

Is this hilarious though? I understand the point I just completely disagree. It's just a bizarre take and not worth arguing over.

It's worrying that no one in a position of power is saying no to these signings.

Looking at around £4m a year for those and non are making the starting 11 if we had a fully fit squad. How Wilder can moan about backing and being short in certain areas is ridiculous when he's wasted so much of the wage budget on players that aren't fit and even if they were aren't good enough.

Signing Ayew was one of the situations where doing nothing would have been better than doing something. Unless we’re paying him £100 a week it was only ever going to be a waste of money with little chance of upside.

Fun Fact - another Sheffield United Academy player played for England at Youth Level - this time U18 (and scored).

Goalkeeper Marcus Dewhurst. A goal from open play as well, not some Penalty Shootout shite.
