Arblaster

It pains me to say it but it's time for a difficult conversation with him. He's miles off a championship player at the minute. Absolutely terrified of getting tackled. How he's starting in front of Donovan is a disgrace. I hope he recovers his form, but he may need to go out on loan for half a season as his confidence looks shot (as do his legs if I'm honest).
What form is he looking to recover ? The guy has been abysmal for 18 months , before his knee injury he was terrible, he had 2 or 3 decent games in the premier League when we were long long buried that can happen flash in the pan , since then he's been awful he has no strength, no height, no pace , no athleticism , but the fan base hold him aloft like some beacon of light that will drag us from the abyss, he is 1000% the most over rated player I have ever seen in a United shirt bar none

I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again, he is Louis Reed mkII. Tidy enough, but not got the athleticism and doesn’t stand out in any one area. He’s a steadyish player, but one you carry when you have better players around him.

He wasn't awful pre knee injury at all. Other than Hackney, he was the most productive CM in the Championship (progressive passes, progressive carries, chances created. Excellent receiving the ball in tight areas, good leader).

He's looked lost since he came back, but don't rewrite history

Phillips plays his role ( better) so he’s now trying to be attacking Mid. Not working.. real shame but he’s not up to a forward midfield role.

Wilder is playing Arblaster in every position bar his proper one.

He’s a centre mid, either a 6 or an 8. Instead he’s played him at 10, left midfield and everywhere else.

If it was up to me, I’d fuck off the 30+ year olds with no future here and play Peck and Arblaster every week.

Peck and Phillips are streets ahead of anything else at the club. Our strikers are wank, our defenders are wank and take your pick from Jairo, Rothwell and Arblaster because guess what, all three of them are wank. Blaster was vastly overrated before the injury, now it's a get out of jail card for everyone who desperately wanted to love him.

Didn't see Arblaster when he had those "Golden Games".. What I have seen over the last couple of years is a bang average player .Far to.slow.Saying he's tidy is been kind.

Wilder won’t drop him/ sell him/ loan him because you can see how much he loves saying ‘Blaster’ in interviews, plus he’s shagged his daughter and is now family.

He shouldn’t be anywhere near the first team.

Second most productive central midfielder in this division for progressive passes, carries and chances created, you say?

Don’t come on here with your fancy facts.

He was a decent player pre injury, but he has come back a shadow of that player. You can see him pull out of tackles, and he has lost a yard of pace, to say he was always wank is over the top. Wilder isn't helping the lad playing him out wide, he should only be use as a sub at the moment he is not over that injury yet. It is only natural to look after family which is what Wilder is doing sometimes to the detriment of the team Donovan must be wondering why he was sat on the bench when the son-in-law is a starter in his position. It smacks of favouritism which is not good for team building. There is a reason a lot of companies don't let people in relationships or family work at the same place it causes resentment when others feel they don't have equal opportunities.

Some genuinely grim comments in here, this forum is becoming a right cesspit.

Imagine if Seriki was written off this quickly after some of his failed loans and performances with us?

We are a crap team at the minute and every player looks worse because of it. He's come back from a terrible injury, is being played out of position and has had some decent performances along with bad ones like yesterday.

He didn't start against Blackburn, Norwich, Bolton, Cardiff or Birmingham this season. I assume he's been in a relationship with Wilder's daughter for longer than a week. Donovan is a right winger, we didn't play one yesterday.

He certainly was playing out wide the last few times he's been on as was BBD what does Donovan have to do to start?? Anything to defend Wilder for some posters it seems. Arblaster has been mostly anonymous when played this season.

In 3 of the 12 games he was non existent in 2 of the others Souza carried him
And playing alongside the ( at that time ) standout midfielder in the division Souza was a massive help as it was for Peck

BBD is a wide forward, so that makes sense. Yesterday Blaster played as one of two number 10s either side of Bamford. Against Fleetwood he played as a left mid in a 4-4-2 and Donovan started.

I'm not defending Wilder's managerial performance, I'm disagreeing with the disgusting, disrespectful shite you've aimed at Wilder, his daughter who should be completely off limits, and one of our academy products, who is also a blade. You should be ashamed of yourself.

I've not said he's played well at all his season.

You should join Brighton's scouting department then, clearly you know more than those idiots...

He played about 15 games in the championship before his injury and was terrible in at least 4 of them , so in his Sheffield united career id say he's had at best 12-15 good games out of 55 , he has played more games post injury than pre injury and so for the majority of his career with us he has been poor, that's not rewriting history that's just an unpopular opinion because he came through the academy, some of our fans have complete blinkers on and get way too over excited about bang average players, I've seen comments on here about him playing for England, comments about burrows playing for England, wilder managing England and these were serious comments

To add balance to the debate, I really hope he can regain the form he had preinjury.

A midfield 3 of him, Peck and Phillips with One, Donovan, Canon infront of them is the only way we get out of this predicament.... There should be enough quality, movement, dynamism in there for us to be competitive - but it's a massive reach at the moment.

As much as I call him/Wilder out on this - it's only because of how frustrating it is and how I see it as the only realistic solution.

Rothwell, Reideweld, Choudhury, Ayew, Bamford - all of them over the hill, leggy, relegation fodder....

We are clearly managing Phillips workloads and probably should do the same with arblaster but to have two players in roughly the same position in that cotton wool mode isn't great
I'd like to think (hope) we've been managing a few players as they build up fitness in a patched up side to get to this international break. Its good that Phillips and Arblaster have come through it and are looking fitter for the game time.

3 weeks to train and only have friendlies will help some of them reset a little, we've come through the first block and now we can reduce the intensity to get them all back firing again for next game back and the next long block to the next break...

Never understood the hype around him to be honest even before the injury
Born in Sheffield. Gets you far with our fanbase, even if you’re just a bang average player. Had a few decent spells in games before the injury and that was enough to make many of our fans decide that he’s the next messiah.

Some will no doubt say something about “linked with prem clubs” yet not a single offer has ever been made for him. Sure, maybe some have scouted him…..but there’s a reason why they never bid for him.

We've just been through a summer where we were begging clubs to come and buy our best players.

The Chuckle Brothers in midfield are both still here.

So the stats are wrong, the PL scouts are wrong, the England U21 manager and staff are wrong, you are right?

I respect your opinion, mate but (imo) Adam Davies did nothing that most lower league goalkeepers wouldn't have done last season. If he'd been in goal this season we'd have been absolutely battered in every game as most decent shots seem to beat him.

He's an atrocious keeper and a dangerous bloke to have at No.2 as, if Cooper get injured, we'd lose every week. It's sheer negligence that he hasn't been replaced and I pray that he's never needed. His biggest strength is that he's rarely required. Watch him warm up most weeks. He just doesn't even look interested. He's stealing a living.

utb
Davies stats last season were way better than Coopers. He actually had a positive goals prevented stat of 0.43, above average - Cooper was -6.8. Even this season Cooper is -1.2. Your eyes often see what you want to believe.

The same Souza who never crossed the halfway line carried him into creating good attacking positions, progressing the ball up the pitch, actually attacking central areas? Cool 🙄

He was an excellent prospect, playing extremely well. The team got worse when he was unavailable

I remember someone saying on here arblaster would captain england
Thankfully it wasn't stated in which sport
