Owner on Gus: Wanted a longer contract and bigger wage than we could afford, we offered on our budget, he rejected.

That kinda contradicts what Chris said in the presser, or should we say true but not the whole truth. Chris said he wanted to go, but the owner said he wanted more money and contract length. So in a way yes he wanted to leave only because we couldn't match his demands.

Course, is the owner telling the truth...

I do think they seem quite focused on the academy. He let slip that lack of promotion put back the work at Dore but that is now moving on again this year.

The end of the podcast was more informative than the start. The start just seemed like them explaining how football and clubs work in the UK to a US viewer.

Anyone who can't be bothered to watch an hour, just skip to the middle.
 
It hasn't changed my opinion that they need to go, but I thought he came across quite well. He's a fairly charismatic guy and if he doesn't really know how to run the club he's at least good at bluffing.

The stuff on Bord and the stuff about Wilder basically running the whole club made it worth watching.
 



RE the Prince and 35mil, a lot of waffle, but seems to be saying now parachute payments have gone and the debts they inherited / position the club is in, means they have reevaluated the value of the club. The Prince and the owners could not agree on a deal. I was confused at this point. COH had another guy attached to that company and they wanted to move away from them, so started the new company. I could be wrong, there was a lot of just going in circles.
 
Very interesting 55 minute interview. Yes, he is an investor in the club but his mission and vision matches that of the fans: achieve secure premiership status, and to pass the club onto the next “custodian”/owner in a better state than they received it in. His USP/specialism he thinks is his ability to put in place processes that give us a competitive advantage over others, such as coordinating medical, team management, etc and developing the academy. My overall take is he is an investor for sure but so too are 100% of/all other club owners. There is no reason for us to be more negative about them than ANY other owner. Their self interests dovetail with our desires for the club as fans.

Can't remember his name but, I think that guy was the original investor who is now supposedly suing them.

Sounds like they did make every attempt to negotiate something new regarding terms with PA.
 
Interesting listen I thought. Some of it was a bit concerning and some of it sounds quite positive, (new investors, academy). Would be nice to hear from the other co owner as well though

I was concerned how naive he admits they were when they bought the club and how the tried to change too much too fast. The worry for me is it sounds like they are holding off changing the structure much at all and Wilder sounds like he will have a lot of the control he always had.

You can't talk about the process of Premier League clubs and then think "Well we tried to copy that in a way, we didn't get it right. So lets just keep it as it is with a few tweaks"

That makes some sense and the first explanation for not paying the final £35 million. However, that had to be in the agreement with Prince Abdullah. If it was why would he take them to court?
 



Fucking fraud.

I don't know how anyone else would feel but if some grinning fraudster had just cheated me out of £35 million and was making podcasts laughing about it, I'd be a lot less forgiving than I suspect the Prince will be.

Hopefully the two crooks get what's coming to them in whatever guise the revenge takes.
