Player Suggestion Hamza Choudhury

One question is why Baptiste was playing there at all, given it’s not his position and we have Tanganga who has played there a lot. Not to mention Doherty and (shudder) Shackleton.
Because Tanganga is our best centre half, Doherty (should have played) was not deemed fit enough and Shackleton is absolutely wank.

I get your point but I don't think this season is the season for expansive attacking football because we just can't afford to not be solid at the back and we've lost Hamer and Brooks of course. Wilder wanted the likes of Lewis Dobbin but he chose elsewhere. Our wage bill is too high, as is the number of players. So this season is about keeping it tight defensively, BBD and Cannon likely to provide the outlet on the counter which will suit both.

They'll be games, especially at home, where we attack more but you have to recognise that attacking threat is not where the strengths of this team is at right now. It's very disappointing I know. But I don't believe the blame should be at Wilder's door.
It’s a bit difficult to judge right now.

Three games in. No defeats but not victories.

1st game at home, similarly skilled opposition, due to lack of investment and player sales an unbalanced squad. neither team wanting to lose. An ok point.

2nd game away, against a team who won their prior game and were expecting to beat us. Still an unbalanced squad so had to adopt a new (old) system. A good point.

3rd game away, which was the third consecutive game on the road, still an unbalanced squad as BBD only arrived late the day before. Offensive scored twice but terrible in general play in terms of ball retention and composure. Stood up defensively second half. An ugly point, but a point nonetheless.

Outside of this we’ve won twice in the cup away; quite rare to have played 5 matches and 4 of them being away. It’s not unusual to be less entertaining away from home. Unless Sellés, including the league cup, we lost our first 7 matches. Under Wilder we’ve played 5 and lost none, winning two away cup games already.

I think we will settle down to have BBD-COH-RD behind Bamford or Cannon.

As a trio I think they will see us create more and we will be more on the front foot. It was a case of square pegs a bit today. I think this will be the last day we see that.

Although it’s one game, I expect a lot more vs Bolton and a win.

The Championship is going to be tough this year! Toughest its been in recent times in my opinion.
Just about all clubs are looking stronger whether we will be ! We will have to see.Doasnt seem to be any who arnt investing well this season.Whether that's due to the new level playing field is too early to say.The new limits of 33 million in loses over 3 years seems to have pushed the level up a bit! I mean in terms of giving it ago this season and tightening the belt in the future 2 years which the new regulations spell out.
Bristol is just one of a number who are looking stronger and maybe these two extra play off places is driving this ? Interesting..
We have made a steady start! Just where all these negatives come from I dont know ! A number of fancied clubs have had a poor start.
Charlton made a great start ! They have a manager who takes no prisoners ! I think the Championship is going to be a slog as usual either an upturn in quality and standards.

End of the day it’s how you do over 46 matches. Charlton’s start is impressive but I knew before looking they’ve been a team that has had 2 home games and against middling teams. Their win at West Ham was impressive but it’s a local derby and West Ham clearly still getting their ducks in line. The fixtures have certainly favoured them. I wouldn’t say ours, 4 times on the road has been very helpful.

We’ll be more organised at right back after the window, and it’s a blow having Seriki injured, though I’d take this moment of vulnerability to get his contract extended. Doherty not fit fully though I’d have played Tanganga there.

We’ll also be more balanced going forward once BBD is starting.

I’m not worried, but once we cashed in on Brooks I’d already we may be in for some attritional matches.

Would be absolutely fuming if we get Choudhury in.

He's a crap CM and an even worse RB, we're screaming for creativity and we want the most stale footballer I've seen for a while but some fans like him cause he puts a tackle in, genuinely cba 😂. Derby fans were buzzing they didn't end up signing him and look at the state of their team.

Curtis can't be worse than him at RB, would be a waste of a loan. Yet again questions asked of Wilder and the "recruitment team"

I thought he did ok with us personally.
Not amazing but ok. Shored defence up a bit and when deployed in midfield as a back up to Souza broke up play.

This one sounds like a transfer to me not a loan.

I do want to see us bring in another attacking player. Whether that happens I don't know. We have got one to return at some point which will give us another dimension.

Like Hamza, was solid enough at RB, if only steady in midfield. Does feel like we're a bit bloated in the middle/at the back now though.

A couple of games ago, in an interview, CW said that the management/coaching staff operate on the assumption that at any one time, we'll only have 80% availability or one in five will be out. If that's their bottom line then I suppose we need bodies in the defensive half to ensure we're solid, no matter what injuries we sustain.

Tanganga, McGuiness, Baptist, Seriki, Doherty, McCallum, Burrows, RND.

Peck, Blaster, Jairo, Philips, Rothwell.

Adding Hamza (a player capable of covering Defence and Midfield) makes sense if this 80% figure is something the coaching group are committed to.

Also, listing the players we have out like that, CB cover is thin. Need one more specialist there and an attacking spark, likely a PL loan IMO.

ive no problem with this signing choudray will be coming in for the right back spot with doherty as his understudy plus if we get injuries in midfield he can go in there personally i would like us to bring a left winger and another striker as well as either webster or worrall at centre back might even be both if mcguinness is sold

The "We OnLy SiGn ThE sAmE pLaYeRs!1!1!1" lines are getting about as boring and repetitive as the fax machine messages.

That said, this stands out for what it is. The need for modernisation of the club. We don't have enough scouts, spread far and wide enough, nor enough recruitment personnel to work on multiple options at once... so, late in the window and desperate, we go with what we know and hope.

Can't see 4 more coming in, including Hamza. Maybe 3 and I think that will be a push. CW said he wants 2 in for Tuesday, assume one is Hamza and the other is a CB. Then a 'luxury' player in the final third, maybe, could happen before Tuesday's deadline.

Curious signing if we already have Doherty? Why didn't Doherty play yesterday if he can't play twice in a row then why the fk did Wilder bring him in?

I have no problem with a back 5 of:

Cooper
Choudhury Tanganga MM/JB/JR McCallum

It would be very physically strong especially from set pieces at both ends. Yesterday was a blip because we didn’t accommodate Seriki’s absence very well. Prior to that we e been very good defensively. Seriki would have been a key player for us. In the absence of a Drameh, who may be similar style, I get that we want to be harder to beat.

It would give freedom, especially at home for BBD and Donovan to attack more.

What we need is Oné and Chong back to add some variety to those wide options.

no probably not now bbd has arrived probably just a centre back and choudray but i would love us to bring cleary in from barnsley

Fair play we’ve managed to assemble the most boring squad in the league. Maybe as well as boring the fans we also plan to bore the opposition into 40 more draws this season.
Agree on a draw in advance and opposition gets a rest week. 46pts might keep us up.

That’s my take too.

Happens every window, leave it till the end then panic.

Leicester fans want us to take Choudhury badly think that says a lot plus he's on something like 40-50k there so can't see him coming here for less than 20-30k a week which is ridiculous for such a limited footballer

Obviously Doherty isn't up to speed ,the staff were thinking he was only going to be cover to seriki ,with him starting at Blackburn and doing 65 minutes he wouldn't have been down to play yesterday but with the unfortunate injury to seriki it messed the teams prep up for Cardiff . Strange one putting bap there though

I like Choudhury as a player but it really does amplify how narrow our approach is. Nothing really against him signing but why do we pay for a scouting and recruitment department? Surely we can do better? A player that offers something going forward would be more welcome given the current limitations of the squad.

My theory is that CW has been told there's going to be points deductions coming our way and wants players he knows to navigate the season.

About as narrow as a South Stand turnstile......

Take a look at the main Leicester forum , they can't wait to get rid of him . We had exactly the same situation with the 2 fullbacks we brought in on loan from Wolves and Sunderland last season . No where near good enough .

Don't they play him in midfield though? We found him more useful at right back.

What we are getting more than one ,nobody knows what the outcome is for the dispute between former and new owners

Yet another hugely uninspiring signing.

A player who gets a nosebleed crossing the half way line.
Where's the pace/creativity?
We're replacing an injured player that will bomb on down the right and create things with someone who will 99 times out of a hundred turn back and play a safe pass.
He's unwanted by a league 1 team that's struggling.

But I suppose he probably comes with a large carry on suitcase full to brim of culture.

I can't remember us having a side this devoid of imagination/creativity since the L1 days.

Thought he had played in both positions for them , but I may be wrong . Besides , I can't see him coming purely as a right back if we still have Seriki and Doherty on the books .
