Player Suggestion Hamza Choudhury

I liked Choudhury and would have thought it a good signing at the start of the window. But now we have resigned Phillips and Reideweld in CM and we need a right back who will get us forward and give us width, if Seriki is out long term. I just don't see how it adds anything.

We couldn’t assemble a more boring squad if we tried

Wilder… hold my beer
I get your point but I don't think this season is the season for expansive attacking football because we just can't afford to not be solid at the back and we've lost Hamer and Brooks of course. Wilder wanted the likes of Lewis Dobbin but he chose elsewhere. Our wage bill is too high, as is the number of players. So this season is about keeping it tight defensively, BBD and Cannon likely to provide the outlet on the counter which will suit both.

They'll be games, especially at home, where we attack more but you have to recognise that attacking threat is not where the strengths of this team is at right now. It's very disappointing I know. But I don't believe the blame should be at Wilder's door.

Unlike BBD, this signing is not sensible at all. He’s not a specialist RB, he’s not a seriki replacement. It’s just another lazy recruitment option for our non existent scouting department and wilder.

Nail on the head.

Covers 3 positions RB, CM and CB (at a push), always available, can play 90 minutes twice a week.

Instead we signed Doherty & Reidewald who can do 60 mins every other game.

Have to pass on him now and accept what we’ve got

If he was our first or second choice DM I'd be happy. We have about 4 DMs already.

If you're bringing in a 34yo that you have no confidence in starting, then you shouldn't be bringing him in in the first place
Agreed, possibly he didn’t play today due playing on Tuesday & maybe with an eye on next week….but it seems odd he didn’t get any minutes

Really hope this happens, always liked him in his previous spell
He played well for us last season, he can cover multiple positions, we can have confidence he won't be constantly injured.

Hopefully this is 1 of 3 signings with the other two being the creative ones.

I don’t think he trusts Doherty to be our main RB option….or Shackleton (both his signings too)
But Doherty must be on a fair old wedge? Hamza would be too. These kind of signings must be frustrating to our contracted players who may have development and resale potential when they come up for contract discussions and we do the old pulling out of the empty pockets routine when they ask for a bump.

Hamza was brilliant at right back, not arsed on him in midfield.
Also begs the question of what the point of signing Doherty is when he's a bona fide right back, is in the squad but hasn't been used when our first choice is injured.
