I rarely stick up for him but as said above he has many constituents who are Blades, myself included.

And he got a lot of stick on here for how much time he spent campaigning for the grunters, so at least he is showing some impartiality and speaking out on this issue too.

Some years ago I worked with Clive Betts on some very difficult community safety work. I was a bit guarded at first, didn't know much about him and was wary of politicians, but he was absolutely first class over a long time. Heart in the right place and always did what he said he would or gave a full explanation as to why not. Helpful, knowledgeable and he was worth listening to.

After being guarded, I found him spot on and still have respect for him for what he did for us and Sheffield people.
