Outgoing? Tom Cannon

Incredible. Move the ball forward with pace and urgency and he actually has space to run into and score. It’s almost like he’s been used wrong in previous games- but surely wilder would never do that?

Yeah and when a team isn't playing their second string defence and actually tries to defend suddenly he struggles.

Cannon banging goals in against a soon to be relegated Wednesday or a weakened Blackburn in the Carabao means nothing.

I think people forget just how poor he was against Birmingham.

His chances came mostly from counter attacks, which is as a result of turning over possession and getting forward quickly.

When we attacked the wings or through the middle in their half after a spell of possession, Cannon wasn’t the pivotal player, last night.

There is a lot to work on but the game suited Cannon a lot last night and that’s a big thing for where he’s currently at.

Thought he worked well playing off Campbell and they linked up well together at times.

Based on this cameo, Cannon will be useful in a lot of games when we can get in behind.

As others have said, when teams invariably sit deep against us, he’ll have less space. But it’s very encouraging to see us playing to his strengths, albeit against a Blackburn cup side

This video shows the goals he scored whilst out on loan at Preston, in every single one of them, there were barely any defenders around him/he had chance to steady himself for his shot or it was a whipped in cross and he made a free run onto it. He can play but not beyond reasonable doubt that he can't play here because we don't offer that quick ball or whipped cross, we aren't matched and that happens. Everyone is jumping on Cannon and potentially yes out of the strikers we have he is probably the best to offload, to a club more suited and willing to pay a small fee back however our goal scoring tally in the league is still a big fat 0 so other problems too within the making the chances department.

The 2nd goal in particular is something he hasn't shown here. In Fact looking at that I saw a player with high confidence and a bit of luck, 2 things he's been in short supply of since he came here.

He reminded me of prime Ched Evans last night, out of possession he was pressing and causing problems for them, in possession he was making the runs he needed and we were finding him

I’ve said he needs confidence, but he needs that Billy Sharp / Ched arrogance and nastiness. He needs to get the confidence of his team mates around him to give him the ball and run in behind, off the shoulder.

It’s a long project but as a cameo it was good to see that there are elements of his game there already

Anyone saying “it’s only Blackburn”, can you give me a reason then why Campbell was absolute shite?

Cannon is a work in progress sure, but Campbell is supposed to be relatively efficient at this level but can’t remember a shot on target last night.

You can’t beat Cannon with one stick, and somehow give Campbell a free pass with the same one.

Campbell hit the post, leading to our second goal.

His pass for the first was just lucky as the defender fell over the ball
Campbell is a lazy, ineffective guy that it is embarrassing to call a footballer
Hes a bag of lard mate! Whoever offered him a contract extension wants there arse kicking!
I still think we offered him a low end contract reduced wages etc. in the hope that we can shift for a fee - but he looks so unfit

We should capitalise on the incredible unbelievable last week he's had and sell him for a good fee
Absolute prime time to sell. Won't get a better one
It’s a difficult one, yes in one way but who are we replacing him with/where is the money going. On the flip side yes it was only a penalty but still 2 in 2 you never know what could happen.

my grandma could replace him and work harder and she's dead.

Get her signed in that case as we are looking in the free market or loan market. Ultimately this late in the window there apparently is no business on match days so gives us tomorrow and Monday for signings in the summer window. If we offload him, who are we are replacing him with, even as a squad player, league cup rotation etc or off the bench he can offer something. If we play that quick ball over the top like Monday he does have the ability to get on the end of it. He puts penalties away really well
