With 1 week to go, its seems like Wilder's been getting his excuses in early for not getting his targets. He's mentioned in successive press conferences about game days being days that business wont get done. We have 3 of those before the deadline, tonight, saturday and the Bolton (h) on the deadline itself.

There's a real concern from me that we won't get anybody in, and with the news that Wrexham are likely to get Mehmeti, im really not sure as to where we're going to get this left winger.. and whoever we do get, will be extremely underwhelming...

What's everybody else's thoughts?

Don't think Wilder has been getting his excuses in it's more of him being the hand puppet for the owners. I think we will get the ex beighton defender and whatever dregs are left of cheap young prem loans.

I have a feeling both peck and burrows will be off to west ham, rnd will leave but not cannon or mm, just my thoughts

I feel like a lot of his press conferences have been full of excuses. Complaining that the window is still open after the start of the season, constant reminder of frees and loans etc.
As much as i think he's the right man for the job, im seriously concerned about the lack of tangible links for the attack

Everybody stocking up while we are not attracting any good kind of players,we are toothless which comes from starvation of supply and hinging (again) on a previous serious injury ridden player(s). There may be trouble ahead… but no moonlight and music.

What we needed was Harry Bassett and Warnock levels of wheeler dealing, that should have been in place and acted upon months ago,the horse that bolted out of our stable has been well looked after by quite a few other Championship clubs

I'm not sure complaining or excuses are quite accurate.

I think he and other managers are frustrated in the way the market is this summer and how it runs beyond the start of the season .

Explaining the reality of it isnt really offering excuses , thats just communicating the situation.
I dont think he is communicating the situation. Many clubs get deals done the same day as a matchday. Its classic backwards blades with a lack of proper structure.

Why does Wilder need make excuses for the board not landing his targets?

He's definitely communicating , and explaining the situation, I'm not sure how that isnt communicating the situation 🤔

Every club is unique in terms of its transfer activity , ours is well known on financial shortfall . Wilder has said its frees and loans from day 1 , not sure whats changed .

Getting players better than we have on frees and loans is more difficult perhaps than at other clubs , especially if clubs only want to release on permanent deals .

Personally I'm not wilders biggest fan but criticising him for something outside his control , or the control of the club essentially is harsh .

You think Wilder is getting excuses in? Interesting read of the situation we are currently in.

It's been a concerning summer in terms of recruitments but as the summer has panned out it would appear the current ownership are not able to put any more money in to boost our transfer budget. And our budget has lowered now we are out of parachutes.

I think we will get someone in for the Left Mid. Whether they will be underwhelming I shall wait to see.
There have been murmurs of Dan James this summer to fill that role. But equally I could see us signing a Ryan Kent type player too.

Thing is I remember being underwhelmed at McGoldrick as we had been trying for Waghorn. Boy was I wrong there.

Because he's becoming the owner's lickspittle, as he's been given the opportunity to manage the club again for the 3rd time
I think what he says officially and what he thinks of this situation are likely quite different. We don't know what they've explained to him but he didn't say he was happy or satisfied. Just that they explained what was happening... " a bit".

If he spoke out about the ownership conflict, he could well find himself just dismissed of duties.

Not sure what else he’s supposed to say really. I think he’s spoken well given the situation he’s been put in by our owners. He can’t really tell the media he thinks they are useless wankers can he…

Literally every fooker bar us is signing players.

Wrexham just bought a right back from City for 2m, and a left back for 8m from France (didnt they just sign an expensive right back and spent a lot on the Kiwi left back?). Also speaking to Mehmeti.

Charlton are just splashing 5m on JRS.

Derby talking to Choudhury.

Bristol City sign Adebayo.

Swansea signing a midfielder from Porto for 3.4m.

Even the Pigs have signed Al Hamadi on loan; piss takers that they are.

Barnsley paying 500k for Blackburn’s centre half.

Brentford also now bidding for West Ham’s left back. Will that trigger a move for HB?

Lets all relax and take a deep breath, target this season has to be 62 points that's just about enough to keep us in this league with a 12 point deduction, that's doable with what we have got and a loan/free or 2 at JTW, as long as the strikers find their shooting boots and fingers crossed with injuries.

We'll be board, we'll be frustrated, we'll have some hammerings but well get there.

UTB

We will sign players, 3 on loan would be my guess. Think there will be a good few that leave as well, just hope it is none of the main ones.

Who cares anymore.
We fucked it on 24th May 2025.

Going to be a few years of pain until we get a new mega wealthy owner….. cough cough well a supposed one.

My thoughts are, that this is another badly disguised Wilder out thread.

Im not wilder out whatsoever, its more that he knows he's the only spokesperson the club currently has, so he's getting his excuses in for the inevitable disappointment we will have come this time next week.

I've just spent 5 minutes of my life that I won't get back, reading your recent posts.

You seem pretty much Wilder out to me, so excuse me if I don't give you the benefit of doubt.

Thats fine, you're entitled to yours as im entitled to mine.

Don't bother commenting on a thread if its going to waste so much of your precious time.

Last season he did have the 4th largest wage bill, so he is not going to be trusted too much.
