We're totally buggered aren't we

I bet Leicester City fans wished they were only buggered as much as some on here think we are.

It’s not looking great is it, with our owners facing two legal battles and recruitment seemingly caught up in the middle of it all.

A few potential scenarios:
  • COH have the money to pay PA, but are simply trying to fight the claim and will ultimately stump up what’s owed.
  • COH are short of cash but somehow find the money to settle the outstanding amount.
  • We sell some of our on-field assets, such as Peck and Seriki, to help fund what’s owed.
  • COH can’t afford to settle the debt, even with player sales, and we end up facing a points deduction.
None of those scenarios fill me with confidence about the season ahead. Even in the best-case scenario, we could be using money that should be going towards strengthening the squad simply to resolve ownership-related issues.

And even if we somehow find £10m to spend on players, who are we realistically going to attract? If you’re a quality player with genuine ambitions of playing for a top-six/eight Championship side, would Sheffield United currently be your first choice given all the uncertainty surrounding the club?

I really hope I’m wrong, but it feels like our season could be in danger of being over before it’s even properly begun.

If COH do have the money to resolve this, then I'd want them to demonstrate it very quickly and very publicly, because at this point we need certainty more than another statement about long-term ambition. It would also make a statement any potential signings that we are still in a good position and fighting for play-offs, not in a relegation battle

Our new club motto should be “ahh well, never mind”

Should we want it added to the club crest, that translates into Latin as:

“Age vero, nihil refert”

Not exactly Arte et Labore is it. Nihil Refert sounds sounds like a new signing with Dutch Sri Lankan heritage. Bet he’d be crap n’all.

If we are splitting hairs, we also have the Maddy Cusack inquest as well. I expect we will get more bad press when that inquest resumes.

Although that pre-dates the current ownership. It's bad press until these court cases get resolved, I just hope our owners have legitimate reasons in both court cases.

It isn't sufc ltd debt,

I've just resigned myself to doom. But in on holiday in Bulgaria and there's an Elvis inpercenator so that's alright!

"I'm not the king, Jesus Christ is the king". Amen to that Elvis!

Thank you very much!
I won a competition once on the radio. Prize was a night out in London for a Elvis tribute show or £ 500. I had to choose.
Press 1 for the money or 2 for the show 🤔

Can't see us signing anybody today. I expect the owners have bigger fish to fry at this moment in time.

They would have if they bought Man Fridays. That place makes a killing on a match day because as Steve and Helmy well know Sheffielders like their tea.

Pleased to help by the way Steve and Helmy and if there's any consultancy jobs going then I'm your bear!

Too right the club should get some bad press for that. Despicable what happened to Maddy.

There’s one consistent.

Time for him to get fuck out of our club, the fucking snake.

Our owners may well be playing silly buggers with the Prince and their erstwhile 3rd partner and think they will "win".
However I've no doubt that the EFL and every club in the Champioship will consider it a 35 Million advantage to us at the expense of the rest of the league.
You don't need more than one brain cell to see where this be headed.
And that is precisely why we will sign no-one.
So, the scenario is that the EFL will doc us 12 points - but what the ++++ were they doing letting these shysters buy us. They have serious questions to answer.
Interesting times.

I actually don’t think they could do that as technically there taking from the clubs coffers to fund personal issues

EFL are at fault and the Prince

This is the thing. Why would the club get penalised 12 points? The club can’t help pay off the Prince even if it wanted to, could it?

The Prince isn’t a football creditor of the club. He’s a creditor of the owners and whatever construct they are running.

Well, we're not in the Don Givens taking a penalty moment are we?

This is crap, no doubt, but all we can do is watch it play out. Too much assumption with minimal understandable information available on here and other forums, yet.

I don't see us going under, unlike some. That's ridiculous but borne from genuine concern and worry.

I do see another sub optimal season on the field, maybe a few even, while this gets sorted out, and it will.

There will be a club to support. Right now there's not a lot we can do but support the club and wait for more clarity.

Money and ego has poisoned the game.

PA was notorious for not releasing statements or making himself available for interviews
And walking away - and getting us into a transfer embargo and a two points deduction. He got lucky with Heckingbottom because if Hecky hadn’t worked his magic, god knows where we would have been under Princey.

I did similar but got a bunch of 45s, including one called "Have you got 10p?" - seems quite appropriate now.

I think if we start buying players in now,it's going to trigger other Championship clubs to get in the ear of the EFL to clarify their position on us and come to a decision on if any rules have been broken here. The one that sticks out to me is the unfair advantage over other clubs scenario.
If the EFL decide they don't like what's happening here, they could interpret that rule as being brought into play.

This

Unfair advantage

Think we may come a cropper either way

Spend and be questioned , don’t spend and undercook the squad - also who would accept a bid u less payment upfront ?

Mess

I genuinely can’t see how or why we get a deduction, for starters I don’t think this can reach a stage where it has without the EFL being aware and already looking into it

I still think we will be ok this year, maybe I am too positive but I do think we have enough on the pitch

I don’t think we will see a fire sale either, I think if we genuinely could end up at Wendy levels with the squad then we wouldn’t have given Campbell a new deal, the fact we have makes me think it will just be loans and get through the season

Obviously it’s not ideal and those who believe we should have used the last few years to be in position to challenge etc have a point, not going to disagree on that

But right now it’s what it is, what’s gone on before isn’t going to change things now

Right now my biggest concern is the manager and his tactics, I think this could be what breaks the camels back and if we do go down I fear this is why

Would love to see Wilder go out and play more positively but I have no conviction he will

It is SUFC struggling to stump up wages for loans/new players while maintaining radio silence apart from some coded missives through Danny Hall though eh?

For the quality we need etc the reality might be that those loans don’t happen until end of window etc

That might be reason we haven’t stumped up wages, we can’t get the players until near end of window
