Outgoing? Tom Cannon

Yes.

There was loads of times yesterday he was leaning on the last man pointing for the pass to go through behind the defenders and we just kept checking back and playing it back out wide.

Then when it's out wide theres no balls being drilled across the 6 yard box.

Cannon must be fuming with the lack of chances being created for him. He makes intelligent runs and the ball never goes to where he wants it.

Sack off the inverted wide players and start getting to the byline to cut balls back.
All the crosses from our "wingers" - not sure you can call them that - just float to the GK

Our creativity (lack of) is astounding.
Dont disagree about the lack of creativity but Cannon doesnt have the pace or strength to get on the end of those balls unless the defender is completely out of position

Spoke to a guy last night who said that the problem is with our midfield players who never play the right balls for him and he subsequently has stopped making the runs. So the fault is with the way we play.

If that is the case, surely he has to be moved on as his “style” does not suit us
The guy you spoke to is wrong!

Cannon has no attributes that warrant giving him anymore game time.

His time at BDTBL is up.

Move him on

FFS , why are you surprised ?
he's so unfit that Wilder didn't even take him to Mansfield.
AND HE GETS A NEW CONTRACT !!!

Who the fuck is running my club ?
(into the ground)
Must admit i didnt see that one coming

If he’s out for a few weeks, then you’d expect Campbell to play as second striker for Bamford until he’s back, I wouldn’t be signing a striker personally
I think the point I’m making is, if we’ve lost One for a period we can’t ditch Cannon without having a replacement lined up. Only having three strikers is a risk so only two leaves us no options to change things up. That’s especially true if Campbell is still only managing 60 minutes. I’m not saying Cannon should stay long term but short term we can’t leave ourselves only with two fit strikers

apart from that particular type of "striker -play" (sitting on the back-line and asking for the ball) , Cannon has nothing else to offer

Haaland often stands around looking lazy and sometimes like he's not even watching the play, then he sniffs the chance and pounces.

Im not comparing cannon to Haaland, but i do feel if the service to him improved, Cannon would improve massively

Matt - come on now , come on my Frechville sex god - you don't feel this at all do you . You're a card you are .

I think you are being very generous to Cannon.

The reality is that our strike force isn't much cop.

Over reliance on Bamford and hoping One becomes the player we all hope very soon.

Add in the loss of Hamer and Brooks who weighed in with goals and assists, and seeing 0 after our name might become a worrying norm unless we strengthen.

Even in his ‘golden’ spell 3 of the goals were pens.
You’ve spent half your reply stating Haalands positives and then said you aren’t comparing him to cannon… the only service he can score with is on 3 yards or closer. He can’t recieve the ball and win free kicks, he can’t receive the ball and lay it off, he can’t beat defenders, he can’t out pace them. Even if he played for Man City he would still be coming off at half time with no goals.

If we can't sell him loan him to league one to get some goals under his belt. I'm sure he's bereft of confidence but he's not even working hard and that's unforgivable. It's like he's trying to avoid being involved in the game. We can't go on effectively playing with 10 men

Problem now is that if One is out for a couple of weeks, Wilder has the perfect excuse to keep hold of Cannon and we’ll have him now until at least January. What he should do is recognise it just isn’t working for Cannon for whatever reason and spend his time over these next few days before the window closes to get (loan) a more than capable striker (who I dont know of the top of my head),
Danger is, Wilder is so focused on the Souttar affair that he’s probably incapable of multi tasking by looking at the forward players that we desperately need with a left winger and now a striker.

We have Marsh, some folks say he is light weight, not good enough, league 1 standard, blah, blah but he's surely worth a try as he scored loads for u21, got to be better than Cannon

Sorry but if marsh is the answer to any question regarding our first team this season we’re in serious trouble.

He had another inconsistent loan spell at a poor side playing at a level largely below our own where he struggled to effect full games. Showed a few smart touches and moves here and there but drifted in and out of games. He didn’t hold down a regular start. Was often subbed off. Suffered another injury and generally speaking looked like a little boy playing for a men’s team.

If cannon struggled physically yesterday Marsh would’ve been snapped in two.

Unfortunately for marsh now I’d be astounded if he made it with our first team. Ever. Not at his age

He somehow managed to score 24 goals in one season for the u21's which is a positive, he knows where the net is and yes we are in serious trouble

Haaland uses it to lull defenders into a false sense of security, then springs into action at exactly the right moment.

Cannon just remains marked all of the time. He scored 5 goals for us last season and 3 of them were against teams that were in varied degrees of disarray, on their way to relegation.

Posters on here kept wondering why Lundstram and Brewster were picked for every game regardless..it was supposed they had some incriminating stuff on Wilder..i think we can add Cannon to that list

If Marsh replaced Cannon and did nothing at all we’d be no worse off .
So why not give him a try?.

Loaning him wouldn’t work, if he went to league 1 we would still have to pay most of his wages which isn’t really going to release funds to sign a replacement. If we don’t sell him he won’t go anywhere.

I have conceded that you have a point , in that I saw him yesterday pointing where he wanted the through ball but his teammates ignoring him.
However ,
Whilst he might improve with better service of that type ,
His all-round lack of anything else makes him a very poor player.

I think we need at the very least one new striker, probably 2 if we are hoping to make the playoffs.
